chaddyrovers Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Don't understand why we would need to pay 500k/£1m for an unwanted player with 6 months left on his contract. When have we ever got that sort of money for one of our rejects? I believe we got 2.5 Million pounds for Kuqi once and 1mil for Benni. Cairney is very important player for Rovers and he wants to stay here.

roversfan99 Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Would love to see him and Evans in central midfield, with Dunn as a number 10, King on the right and Marshall or Taylor left.
Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Would love to see him and Evans in central midfield, with Dunn as a number 10, King on the right and Marshall or Taylor left. +1 That midfield pairing saw Hull do pretty well last year.
watford-rover Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 I may be wrong on this but as cairney was brought through hull youth system then isn't it the same situation we had when hoillet went to qpr? That their due a compensation fee or whatever it's called to the tune of a few million? Cairney went to hull when he was dropped by Leeds when he was 16 so I'm not sure whether that will make any difference in the details.
roversfan99 Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 +1 That midfield pairing saw Hull do pretty well last year. Bit annoying that Bowyer will never drop Lowe, therefore we will go back to 2 defensive midfielders and Cairney out wide.
Amo Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Cairney's contract expires in Summer 2015, that's why (according to transfermarkt.co.uk)
JAL Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Haven't heard one bad word from any Rovers supporter regarding this lad which has to be good news.
Majiball Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Haven't heard one bad word from any Rovers supporter regarding this lad which has to be good news. just wait till they know he's Scottish.
Al Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Cairney's contract expires in Summer 2015, that's why (according to transfermarkt.co.uk)This one keeps coming up but the ones who matter say he has only 6 months left on his contract.
Al Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 just wait till they know he's Scottish.Born in Nottingham, but since you have so few decent real Scots I suppose you can have him in your team along with Rhodes who is also English.
Majiball Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Born in Nottingham, but since you have so few decent real Scots I suppose you can have him in your team along with Rhodes who is also English. And yet despite being tipped for England he choose the country of his fathers birth after 20 odd years living within your borders. Hanley, Cairney, Rhodes a spine of Scottishness within which our hopes rest.
Amo Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 This one keeps coming up but the ones who matter say he has only 6 months left on his contract. Fingers crossed.
The Rover of Finland Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Does he speak Portuguese? Better not.
47er Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 And yet despite being tipped for England he choose the country of his fathers birth after 20 odd years living within your borders. . Like Rod Stewart with his Cockney accent!
JAL Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 just wait till they know he's Scottish. Looks like the guys are in just to wind you up Majiball. When it comes to anything Scottish believe me there are so many Rovers supporters with scottish heritage its untrue.
West Yorks Rover Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Looks like the guys are in just to wind you up Majiball. When it comes to anything Scottish believe me there are so many Rovers supporters with scottish heritage its untrue. You're not wrong there ! Glasgwegians all over Blackburn and Darwen when I was a lad,and plenty of Italians too, hows ' little Italy' these days. Back to the ' jocks ' we used to have some real craic with that lot when the 'home internationals' came round, often came to blows in certain pubs, very aggressive, that lot from ' the gorbals,' one or two even wore womens' skirts on matchday. Although we do have to give credit, to certain people from north of the the border, for making our club one of the most famous and successful clubs in the country, in the early years at least.
savage90 Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 There's nothing more frustrating than dropping points in winnable matches through a lack of adventure or risk; It happened a lot under Allardyce. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
thenodrog Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 . Born in Nottingham, but since you have so few decent real Scots I suppose you can have him in your team along with Rhodes who is also English. You know what they say Al..... you can take a pig out of a sty and keep it in a stable but it's still a pig.
Majiball Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 . You know what they say Al..... you can take a pig out of a sty and keep it in a stable but it's still a pig. SO you regard the english as pigs? I can understand that.
Bucksrover Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Hull did ok without him today - hopefully with them doing ok they will be more likely to let him go
Mike Graham Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Rovers offered Hull £250,000 for Cairney only last week.
Backroom Tom Posted December 28, 2013 Backroom Posted December 28, 2013 I would imagine £500k should be enough
yoda Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 I would imagine £500k should be enough no self respecting agent can make a do at that price!
G Somerset Rover Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 I like Cairney, he's very technically astute on the pitch. I however can't help but feel that he could be a little more adventurous with his passing - especially in the final third. He seems to be another who is happy to play it safe all too often. We see enough of that in Lowe!
