Proudtobeblue&white Posted September 20, 2013 Author Posted September 20, 2013 We don't much like each other, certain sections of both supporters are knobs, but we still have 34 years of bragging rights.....I like the symmetry of starting the thread, and finishing at post 1000, lets all move on and make sure we get 3 points tomorrow, COYB's! Shoot......someone got in before me lol

Clitherover Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Not often I want Leeds to win but today is an exception.
bazza Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Not often I want Leeds to win but today is an exception. And, no doubt, you have been disappointed.
Gav Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 40,000+ fans on the streets of Manchester about now, local rivals, they hate each other, and not a coach or barricade in site just police doing what they're employed to do, keep order and police any potential flash points. Just as a side issue, I was in town at about 1pm yesterday, police on most corners around postal Order, stage door, police horses, BMW 5 series driving round the block and riot vans, police helicopter overhead. I assume Udders must of brought a 'crew' or is that normal for a home game these days? Or is it the police trying to justify their existence/costs with a show of what appeared to be force, to someone who very rarely goes in town before games these days?
Gav Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Think it was for an EDL march or similar. That would explain things, thanks Ozz.

Bob on, Lancs police, 72 million pound cuts, yet still plenty of quids to @#/? us off!
92er Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Think it was for an EDL march or similar. Yes, it was the EVF, I believe, outside Waves.
Gav Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Great thread on dingles mad, they're going mad that they only took 1000 to Leeds, the biggest and best supported club in the world? surely not.....
longsiders1882 Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Not sure what the Leeds tickets were priced at but probably around £35.00. Simple fact is not many people can afford that sort of money week in week out. The attendance at 'the derby' should have served as a good warning, nowhere near sold out home or away. It is simply to damn expensive. I know me and 5 others had planned to go to Leeds together but cost meant it was either Rovers home or Leeds away, in other words no contest really. Still now you've felt you can poke some fun at our away followings I'm sure Rovers will be taking a few thousand to Leeds etc?

(Not necessarily from you, but supporters of your club) Leeds is always expensive for tickets, especially considering once travel is factored in (train costs circa £15 iirc from uni days). Our fixture is New Year's Day, so sure we can keep you posted!!
longsiders1882 Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Indeed K-Hod - as someone here once said about the games last season, 2 bald men fighting over a comb. 2 small mill town clubs, done OK in the distant past on attendances but can only really hope to fill their ground if they are in the top flight. For all the 'dislike' the 2 clubs and towns are more alike than either set of fans cares to accept - with only the tenures of Bob Lord and then Jack Walker really setting either club apart from the other. Can't speak for you but our attendances are waning again quite badly - though bizarrely the away following does normally hold up which might explain why some are a little surprised at the Leeds numbers.

You're second in the league, best start in years and you only take 1000 to Leeds? which is a few stops down the railway from the hovel you call home? PATHETIC.

Leeds wanted £37.00 quid off us last year I think. Or £36.00. That would have been £70 + quid waxed on two tickets for me and my son to watch the game, before fuel, food, programmes and beer. £100.00 afternoon out for two people, arriving back home for 7ish and still wondering what is for tea and what you are doing that evening. Way too expensive, especially with us being so poor away and offering such little value.

longsiders1882 Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Here you go Gav - strangely we had the lowest attendance at Leeds last year too & we BOTH managed to have the lowest gate at 2 grounds (admittedly this doesn't say how many away fans attended): http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/DivisionalAttendance/0,,10794~20127,00.html
Gav Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Aye Gav, like I say lets see what your travelling support is this season, show us how it's done. Big difference, we've not got form talking up our support, its a favourite pastime in the land that time forgot. Anything above £20 in this division should be boycotted, they might start to have second thoughts about ripping people off, a few e-mails to these clubs might do some good, you've given a good summary here, no doubt many will feel the same. Could understand it, if they had a small stadium with limited availability.

Going well your lot this season to date. Suprised me a little I must say as it all seemed doom and gloom pre-season. Will be interesting to see how it all maps out and who ends up where.

Don't fret, it can't last, Jones a doubt for cup game this week - a few injuries and we'll be recruiting down Townley on a Sunday for players.
