Both clubs in decent form - both sets of fans probably with a degree of belief but for both teams the question is can they take the form they showed in the last few games into this one, especially after a 2 week break.

The hatred comes from the late 70's and early 80's, is 2 sided and from your end probably comes from all the times you lot were literally knocked down time and again in the heyday of the hooligans - running scared so often must have hurt your lot ^_^ . Thank the lord most people have grown up since then.

Chelsea yes, Bolton yes, Middlesborough yes. But never at the hands of Burnley

We are going to lose sometime , the law of averages !

It cannot go indefinately , win , lose or draw , from what I have seen so far this season , we will finish quite a lot higher than last ...

Personally , I wish the game was being played in a month or two by then Burnley will be on the wane !

Our goalkeeper and 2 central defenders worry me if they play it long , we could really be struggling !

I'm just making a quick visit to the Board to compliment Proudtobeblue&white on the funniest Preview I've ever read on here [just what this game needed, imo], and to furnish what may be some even more relevant statistics than the "34 years" one.

In 114 full League seasons, we've finished higher than them on the Leagues' "ladder" twice as often as they've finished above us: [76 times to 38]. Last season was the first time since 1980/81 that they'd finished higher in the table than us.

This is actually only the 44th season we've played them in the League; and of the 71 seasons when we didn't meet, that was because we were in a higher division than them in 50 of those 71, while they were in a higher division than us in only 21.

New job and all the blokes in the yard are burnley fans. Everyday I'm reminded of the 14th,especially one of the 'senior' employees who insists his son was 'in the wrong place at the wrong time' when he was arrested in the Station pub in Cherry Tree a while back.

'How did he get on when he went to court?'

Two and a half years

In the wrong place at the wrong time ?! Good grief. That's the mentality of our six fingered neighbours.

We've had a rare upturn in form recently, please make it happen on Saturday, and I'll walk into the yard with a Rovers shirt on monday morning :)

I'm confident that we will finish above them but not confident about this game as a one off

Very tough to predict though as both team are flawed but have showed they can play some good stuff

That's sad to read. But, having paid for season tickets this month i can't afford away games. Others may be in the same boat

I got offered a ticket to the game on Saturday and I politely declined.

The 8 hour round trip to go 20 miles up the M65 to watch a football match is in no way appealing to me. What a shame that the police have to intervene so much for this just because a few numpties want to beat each other up.

I went to school with a lot of Burnley fans and still know a lot now. We have good banter and a laugh about it. That's how it should be. Not frogmarched on and off police escorted coaches for 6 hours of my Saturday.

I do wonder if the current restrictions create a more tempestuous atmosphere than, for instance, a simple police escort between the train station and ground? Even a heightened police presence on the day itself might be enough to dissuade the usual suspects who might otherwise be tempted to have a pop at one another. Such a shame.

Just 1700 tickets sold so far for this, zero chance of shifting all 3k.

It's obvious why when you add in the fact it's on the box. It's an even more ridiculous farce when you see now that tickets are available to anyone on the database. So much for the big restrictions. Without a relaxation in travel arrangements next season then this fixture will be a dead duck to away fans. Lancs Police must get laughed at by GMP and other forces.

I'm sure it does. The majority of people who want to go now - for the away fixture in particular - are those who enjoy all the crap that goes with this game. Banging on coach windows, bouncing up and down behind the police lines, throwing beer around concourses for 2 hours.

All it's done is increase the concentration of knobheads. There's still some who'll go to both games, just because they'd never miss it and put up with the tedious circus it's become. Fair do's to them.

But that's it for me at Ewood. If it's on Sky then that's a bonus but I'm not playing a part in it anymore. The home games are still alright, if a total overkill, but it's a real shame so many Rovers fans I know don't bother with the Turf anymore.

I remember the 2005 Cup games, the chief copper at the time congratulating both sets of fans on their behaviour, the last time you could make your own way there. Yeah, thanks a lot.

No way am I going to be transported on a cattle wagon and then kept in a pen at an inferior football stadium for hours on end. I am a human being with rights and this offends my human rights.

Its going to happen one day, unfortunately, but I think we will continue the run of not being defeated with a cracking 2-2.

Luckily you don't get many B*rnley fans down south so if we do lose I won't have to put up with any gloating.

Same up here. Not too many claret n' blue fans around Fife! (Strangely enough it's about the same number as blue n'white halves). So the only little aggro I get is when I am in Edinburgh having to avoid getting on one of the new claret n' blue buses (Aaaarrrgh!!).

Sickening isn't it. I just tell myself it's maroon and not claret. The number 49 with it's blue roof is particularly insulting.

I stand by my post. It is a human right not to be herded like cattle. Most of the buses look like they came out of a scrap yard and Turd Moor is an inferior stadium. What is wrong with that Jal?

If you want to be humiliated that is up to you. I will watch on TV and not be treated like I have broken some law by the police and pay through the nose for the privelige..

No news on numbers sold this end but they are on general sale, well anybody on the database, so I'd suggest this will be a long way from a sell out in the home stands as well.

Being on T.V is a huge factor, especially for those due to be herded around for half a day. The early kick off doesn't help either.

Looks increasingly like the Police are slowly achieving what they set out to by making it such an pleasant experience decent people give up bothering

That's a but much isn't it? Humilated by going to watch your team in a big game and putting up with a bit of inconvenience along the way. Kepp it in proportion, sounds like you are going to be launching an Dr MLK style campaign against unconfortable buses and cattle like treatment. "We shall overcome" eh?
