Well we saw definitive proof last night, not that we needed any, that Campbell is absolutely useless, can't hold the ball up and never looks remotely like scoring no matter who the opposition is

Good song last night from the fans re: Rhodes, apologies if it's been posted before:

(To the tune of achey breaky heart)

Don't sell my Rhodes

My super Jordan Rhodes

I don't quite think you understand

That if you sell my Rhodes

My super Jordan Rhodes

You're gonna have a riot on your hands!.

What you saw last night Rev with regard to Campbell was exactly how Rhodes has played in many away games this season. Neither Rhodes nor Campbell are suited to the role but, fortunately, Gary has addressed the issue with the signing of Gestede. Rhodes and Gestede to start with Campbell on the bench is a pretty decent strike force.

The 1st game at ewood and the 1st half last night also highlighted some of the issues bowyer is having to find soloutions for. Despite having a better team and superior players it was really tough for a city team playing 442 to pass their way through a well disciplined rovers 451. Same things apply to us when pairing rudy with JR. It can work, but in some games our midfield is going to struggle. IMO its why he plays 2 'defensive midfielders' and also why he plays cairney right asking him to drift in alot to help us numbers wise centrally.

Not having that, he was playing as a lone striker which is never his game in a million years.

DJ Campbell could be a good impact player from the bench, he looked sharp last night and full of running for me, think he'll be a good asset in the run in.

Completely agree. His performance at Leeds showed just how useful he can be to us in the Championship.

Corrected for you.

That "corrected for you" approach is without doubt the most annoying thing on the board though.

Corrected for you

But yes it's an annoying cheap way to make a point

If someone says that's their last word on the subject and then everyone replies to him, guess what he's going to do? That's right reply. So you sit there berating Den for doing so and yet your own actions are the cause of another post.

Perhaps you should consider your own actions in things as every word you have used against Den is in fact against yourself as you cause the very thing you do not desire.

Whats the term for someone like that?

Ah, don't worry Maj. Cheap retorts are the norm nowadays. I think the only time the argument will become meaningful, will be if/when we go into administration, or worse. Maybe then the brain cells might understand that promotion was our only saver and the way to get promotion was to improve performances. We only had one player with enough value to make that step up possible. Looking beyond a 25 goal a season striker is too far for some of our fans. I don't give two hoots about Jordan Rhodes or any modern player, but what fans "like me" do worry about is the season after this.

Rhodes haters? Don't be daft Abbey there has been nothing of the sort

Hyper criticism at times and fair criticism at others possibly but certainly no ' haters'

There was one instance from a corner on Weds that was headed back across goal and fell to DJ and he miscontrolled. Then there were the two headers in the second half. Without wishing to sound like a bitter Huddersfield fan, I'd wager than JR would have scored from a couple of those. The thing with Rhodes is that, whilst he may not have changed the general flow of the game and done very little other than what DJ did in general play, we would probably have scored at least once with the chances we did carve out had he been playing.

Who do Cardiff fans sing it about? The first I heard was Celtic fans about Paddy McCourt, then Leicester with Anthony Knockeart and then Newcastle with Yohan Cabaye.

Cardiff did a "Don't sack Mackay" version of it. Let's hope our Rhodes version doesn't end up like Cardiffs!

Would've should've could've. Why do you say that when he had a few chances v Doncaster last time out and spewed them all?

Rhodes is an excellent finisher without a doubt and I'm getting sick of keep saying so, but he is not as good a PLAYER / CENTRE FORWARD / FRONT MAN (delete as appropriate) as some on here think. There are too many ignoring his glaring deficiencies through some sort of gooey eyed, star struck disposition . In my day he'd have been described as a tart liner and if I'd been in the team I'd be constantly rollocking him for lack of team effort.

Strangest thing about this debate is that after watching proper 'top line' strikers at close quarters courtesy of the increasingly maligned Walker years, players like Shearer, Speedie, Cole, Sutton, RSC, Bellamy, Benny Mac lots of our members in their judgement on JR are exhibiting the memory retention of an average goldfish. I realise that he JR is only a Championship level player and so it's very harsh to compare with the above but tbh the lad is not fit to even lace their boots. To roughly quote Cassius Clay many years ago 'If JR even dreams that he is as good as those guys he should wake up and apologise'. ^_^

I don't mind having a different view, although wanting a guy in jail who is guilty of nothing seems warped to me, but surely he is capable of putting that in a post of his own.

Sorry if you couldn't see that I was joking. Maybe the irony was lost on you.
