ABBEY Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Its yoda, mainly humour but this "also offering Rhodes a new contract IMO is a clear sign that the current owners WONT be selling up or Putting the club in administration at the end of this month like some fans wanted or thought they might." If we sold Rhodes he would say IT IS THE BEST THING FOR THE CLUB AND NICKO BROKE IT FIRST If we keep Rhodes he would say IT IS THE BEST THING FOR THE CLUB AND NICKO BROKE IT FIRST If we go into Admin he would say IT IS THE BEST THING FOR THE CLUB AND NICKO BROKE IT FIRST If we dont do Admin he would say IT IS THE BEST THING FOR THE CLUB AND NICKO BROKE IT FIRST If venkys sell he would say IT IS THE BEST THING FOR THE CLUB AND NICKO BROKE IT FIRST If venkys dont he would say IT IS THE BEST THING FOR THE CLUB AND NICKO BROKE IT FIRST If we got in playoffs he would say IT IS THE BEST THING FOR THE CLUB AND NICKO BROKE IT FIRST If we dont he would say IT IS THE BEST THING FOR THE CLUB AND NICKO BROKE IT FIRST

den Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Den Has Rhodes run over your dog, scooped it up, baked it in a pie, served it you it you at a picnic and then sent you a bill for his culinary time and effort? You feelin OK Ed? 😃 think you've been watching too many Star Wars films.

Baz Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I would be very happy if/when Rhodes signs this new 5 and half years contract. he is a natural born finisher and his scoring record is 1 goals in 2 games. cant see him being sold this summer at all, I don't see why any fan would want to sell a natural born goalscorer for. I would accept that his hold up play isn't the better but it has improved abit this season for me IMO. also offering Rhodes a new contract IMO is a clear sign that the current owners WONT be selling up or Putting the club in administration at the end of this month like some fans thought they might. also shows that the current owners will continue to finance the club and most likely challenge FFP rules in the UK courts. Offering Rhodes a new deal 1.5 years into his current deal may also mean other things Chaddy, i think we have lost enough players to release clauses in past few years to demonstrate that a new contract guarantees nothing. Also it means nothing whatsoever to the Raos selling up.
McClarky Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Surely a sure sign that the Current owners aren't selling up is a bad thing though....
Bucksrover Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Surely a sure sign that the Current owners aren't selling up is a bad thing though.... Not when nobody wants to buy us.
Rover_Shaun Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Not really sure what's "Abusive" about the post Abbey made??!!!!!!!!
booth Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 People saying he's the best striker since Shearer = madness. People saying sell him and strengthen the squad = deluded considering who our owners are. People saying we're playing 4-4-2 to accommodate Rhodes = need to go to spec savers because the service is just as crap as it's always been since he arrived. I was with jbizzle but then he went and called Jason Roberts a beast! Is this how the zombie outbreak starts? A slight cough while talking utter @#/??
Neal Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 People saying sell him and strengthen the squad = deluded considering who our owners are. Not really. Not that I'm sticking up for our owners, ever... But they have invested quite a bit into this current squad. It's quite plain to see that we can't afford to have a player like Rhodes at his potential value while the rest of the squad needs strengthening badly. Just to add, I don't think people who are of the opinion that we should sell Rhodes are in the minority either and there's a reason for that.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted March 6, 2014 Moderation Lead Posted March 6, 2014 If we had better midfielders that went forward Rhodes' lack of recent goals would be forgiven. The two anti-footballers just pass it to someone better than them and run sideways. Crab sh1thouses.
Rover_Shaun Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Lowe's under rated and the lynchpin of the side, "you know" (said in a Mark Lawrenson accent) Didn't you get that memo from "certain fans" written in conjunction with the RNIB?
yoda's brother Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Not really. Not that I'm sticking up for our owners, ever... But they have invested quite a bit into this current squad. Rover_Shaun Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Not that I'm sticking up for our owners, ever... But they have invested quite a bit into this current squad. 'Invested' makes it sound like they have actually spent money rather than recycle incoming fees on the never never.
Jimmy612 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 time for a poll Poll is too simplistic because it isn't a black and white situation. Could we sell Rhodes for the £8m that we paid for him? Would Bowyer be granted permission to spend the money? Are Huddersfield owed £5.5million, and would they be entitled to it immediately, leaving us with little or no money for squad improvement? Does Bowyer have adequate replacements lined up? Do we even trust him to spend such wealth sensibly?
USABlue Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 You don't leave your highest scorer who has already scored out on Sunday ...Not leavin him out just not starting him a la Man City I would be very happy if/when Rhodes signs this new 5 and half years contract. he is a natural born finisher and his scoring record is 1 goals in 2 games. . It, s also non in the last 10
Neal Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 'Invested' makes it sound like they have actually spent money rather than recycle incoming fees on the never never. Fair point. I'm just surprised they re-Invested some of it into the club after relegation. Let me be clear, they deserve absolutely no credit for that given the mess they've made. Lowe's under rated and the lynchpin of the side, "you know" (said in a Mark Lawrenson accent) Course he is, I heard he can run all day "you know". He's the complete midfielder... Without the ball.
thenodrog Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 If we had better midfielders that went forward Rhodes' lack of recent goals would be forgiven. The two anti-footballers just pass it to someone better than them and run sideways. Crab sh1thouses. But we haven't so thats that. Most of our midfielders don't 'fit' well into a 4-4-2. In fact I can't really think of one that does. Why Bowyer continues to persevere with it I really have no idea..... (.......... unless he's under orders to play a certain centre forward every match Booth) time for a poll Pointless..... dont you know JR 'scores when he wants'?
AggyBlue Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 But we haven't so thats that. Most of our midfielders don't 'fit' well into a 4-4-2. In fact I can't really think of one that does. Neal Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 But we haven't so thats that. Most of our midfielders don't 'fit' well into a 4-4-2. In fact I can't really think of one that does. Why Bowyer continues to persevere with it I really have no idea..... Cairney? One of the best distributors of a ball in this league and retains possession better than anyone we have. Has Gaz finally caused us to forget that he's a centre midfielder by wasting his career week after week? He and Evans should be in the middle now both are fit. Now our season is over, If he continues to play those 2 in the middle that only indicates to me that he plans to stick with it next season... Think of the season ticket sales.
Al Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I disregard it Al because the only people who know whether that's true are the Raos. Even then we would only have been certain of that if they had been tested on it.I think you are fooling yourself Den if you believe that the £8mil would have been available to spend on several players. I am a great respecter of your opinions but you appear to have a blind spot on this point.
somersetrover Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Assuming we only played with ten men or hadn't spent that money on another 4-5 quality players. The Jordanettes© always disregard that point. If we had signed 4-5 quality players instead of Rhodes then that would probably have cost more than £8 million. But just say to support your argument that we had got 4-5 top quality players for £8 Million then their wages combined would be considerably more than Rhodes wages and that would put the club in an even worse state financially than is currently is because the wage bill is too high already.
Clitherover Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Come the summer, I'd sell while his value is still high and re-invest in the squad. I don't think we'll have much choice but to do this, we'll be lucky to get anywhere near what we paid for him though.
