Anyway early start for me on Saturday..... Brother's wedding up in North Yorkshire on Friday ... bang goes my original plan of having a few bevies at the hotel during the evening do :(

Has your brother been married before?

It seems strange to me to cut short a wedding do so you can be shunted around East Lancs all day for a football match, especially when the game is on TV.

The timings you mention are some kind of myth which seemed to have gathered momentum on here Chaddy. The coaches are scheduled to leave at 10 am ie two hours before kick off. After the game the coaches are to leave as soon as everybody is on them so if that goes well we will be back for around 4 pm. Now if you were travelling independently what time would you leave and expect to get home at? The price could be prohibitive for some and I can understand that but to use the time away as an excuse is poor in my opinion.

I would leave around 11.15am and get to the ground for 11.45-12pm ish and I would be home around 3pm at the latest.

when I go Ewood Park on a normal match day 3pm Kick off time I set up from home around 2pm and arrive at there around 2.20 pm then its about 10 mins walk to the ground. I roughly get home around 5.30pm ish after the game. I work Saturday mornings normally so a early Kick off time would cause problems in most cases

So people are teleported straight from their front doors to climb aboard the coach at one min to 10 are they ? Hmmm....

Are you being deliberately obtuse? I was talking about the time on the coach which is what a lot are objecting to. What time would you leave travelling independently then?

My beef is with how long it takes to get from Ewood to Turf Moor. That journey is about 20-25 minutes in a car, granted coaches are slower but that should be compensated by the police escort. Why then does it always take at least an hour? Because some absurdly complicated and infuriatingly pointless route is decided on as soon as the coaches start to approach Burnley, taking us through winding countryside with inbred bumpkins peering at us no doubt thinking (as we are) what the hell are they doing out here? I assume the point of this is to avoid some dastardly ambush set up by Danny Dyer in a film once but with no relevance or chance of happening in real life.

Assuming I'd have to get to Ewood for 9am, I'd get up at 7am to stir, have proper breks etc. If travelling independently I'd likely set off to Burnley at half10 with a half8 wake-up.

Coming back there's always a 45min delay after the match to account for all travellers. Independently, I'd be home before the coaches even set off to Ewood (which would waste a further hour or so of my time).

Under normal circumstances it does take 20-25 minutes but given that the traffic around Burnley will massively increase I reckon you would be lucky to get to Burnley and parked up inside 45 minutes. Then you have to walk to the ground so maybe it will take the best part of an hour to be actually inside the ground.

The coaches didn't leave when everyone was on them last season. We sat on a coach outside the Turf for the best part of one hour before we took an hour to drive back to Blackburn. I was away for eight hours and for a game that's just twenty minutes down the road it is a complete and utter joke.

I'm going off what it says on the advice pamphlet given out with the tickets. In reality that may not happen but I think the intention is to make it happen. Last year as we sat on our coach there were loads of Rovers fans wandering around aimlessly which didn't help.

Last time I flew to Holland I had to be at Manchester Airport two hours before the scheduled flight time for an hours flight. I didn't complain because I know that ultimately is for my safety. That is the way I view this game.

3. Given up going away cos of the dollopers that one is likely to be seated behind or next to.

A somewhat unpopular view

But one I agree with absolutely unreservedly

I'd love to go to this derby as I've never been to one, but the above is the reason I won't at present. I am not going with the intent of causing harm to anyone and don't see why I should be forced to do as advised given that violence in football has declined massively. I have no criminal record have never been caught doing any wrong. You can say it's for my protection but I am an adult and can make my own choices over what I do. For me it's too much like saying you will cause trouble, which is guilty till proven innocent and I am guilty of @#/? all at this present time.

Next thing you'll know they'll be dishing out points for doing 50 on a desserted motorway at 2am with the reasoning being congestion despite me being the only car in the photo.

Ive been to the last few at t'Turf but won't be at this one. Haven't voted cos I'd probably tick all the options. Pb has probably summed up the way I think.

I live over an hour from Blackburn. Last time I think it was 9am when we had to be at Ewood. To avoid getting up at ungodly o'clock and minimise the chance of delays, I've stayed over with relatives the night before. After sitting on the car park after the game I think it was 17:30 when I got home last time. Seems most of the day is spent sitting on a coach either going nowhere or meandering slowly. So my biggest objection is the amount of time I have to sacrifice for a 90 min game.

Of course, things like the cost and things like the ridiculous crush in the tunnel under that stand don't help.

As the club announce that the tickets go on open sale, I'm interested to know the reasons why fans are choosing to stay away from the East Lancashire derby.

PLEASE NOTE THE POINT OF THIS THREAD IS NOT A "I'M BETTER THAN YOU", IT IS TO TRY AND UNDERSTAND AND OFFER FEEDBACK TO THE CLUB/POLICE AS TO WHY FANS ARE STAYING AWAY FROM THIS FIXTURE.

Mods, could you please run a poll on this with option of ticking more than one box (if possible).

A) ticket price

B) transport price

C) Combo of A & B

D) enforced transport

E) over crowding at Turf Moor

F) tv coverage

G) Owners are con-merchants ridding the club of its monies and assets.

If the reason is something other than the options above, please leave your reason below. If as many people could vote who AREN'T going before 7pm this evening, that would be great!

Thanks for all the feedback so far. To the people who have commented but not voted, please do so - the more numbers that can be presented to the club the better. They might not take a blind bit of notice, but at least they then cannot dispute way people are turning their backs on what should be the best 'away day' of the season.

GET VOTING!

"The coaches" won't leave at 10am. The first coach might. By the time the last coach leaves the car park it'll be more likely 10:30. Not to mention they'll start people boarding them at about half 9 I expect.

Some of us work Sundays. For home games on Sundays I do a half day, but due to the ridiculous travel arrangements that are in place for this fixture that option is removed.

Avoided Leeds away last year due to ticket prices. When your paying for your mum and kids as well, the best part of 40 brick per ticket gets very expensive. Especially so for poor quality Championshop fodder.

First rovers burnley game I've missed in my lifetime, albeit first derby was only in 2000. I never thought I'd miss this game once upon a time.

Reasons are d and e.

Quite simply that cricket field stand is not equipped to cope with 3000 fans arriving an hour and a half before kick off. The concourse is too cramped with one small bar. I hated last years experience.

As it happens I usually like the experience of going to old traditional grounds, but not one where I'm forced to be there ages before kick off, crammed in the concourse, unable to get anywhere near the bar.

Unfortunately the masses watching on sky tv will just assume poor away support from us without realising the reasons why.

I usually argue with people who say they prefer the experience of watching a game in a pub than actually being at the ground. On this occasion they are correct!

I live in between Chorley and Blackburn and could be in Burnley parked up not far from the Turd on a match day in 45 mins without breaking any speed limits. It takes me 10/15 min to Ewood normally. on Sat i'll have to set off about 9.15 to get to Ewood, park up and get on the coach in good time, approx 3hrs before kick off for a game 30 mins away from me, that's all im saying. That is before the mentioned 20mph trek back through the hills afterwards. Im going because i can put up with the hassle at the min but can fully understand even the most ardent fans giving it the thumbs down when factoring in other aspects of life and demands on time. This is our big derby granted but it's coming around regularly these days. People will make efforts for one offs but this is Burnley not the FA cup final !

I am unable to attend on Saturday but in any event would not have gone. The main factors being 4 and 5 but I could easily tick every box. I understand the safety concerns but last season's escapade was the last straw for me.

My experience was arrived at Ewood 9 o'clock as instructed, sat on a bus on Ewood car park until 11.15am when we eventually left. Followed by a 20mph procession up M65, tour round Lowerhouse, Rossendale Road, half way to Todmorden before arriving on 'The Falls Road' outside t'Turf. Once past the turnstile and in to a packed and dangerous concourse where nobody could move, couldn't have a slash, get a pie or a pint. Managed to eventually get to the seat. Oh then the match.

A 45 minute wait in the ground after the match followed by another scenic tour round the sights of Widowhill and Nelson before arriving back at Ewood a week later.

The cheeky buggers then have the temerity to charge £40 this season.

That's entertainment?

As far as I'm concerned, the authorities have sadly won, congratulations. They (and I suppose the numpties) have ruined what should be one of the highlights of the season.

Even if I lived in Blackburn I wouldn't go as for one I would watch it live on TV.

2 all this messing fans around turning what should be a 3 hour day into 8 hrs is a joke.

If as advertised paying £40.00 for the privilege is a disgrace.

considering a season ticket at rovers works out at £12 a game to ask 2 & a half times as much for 1 away game is really taking the mick.
