Stuart Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Maybe the main difference in our stances is that I don't think GB could be fairly viewed as inadequate when the system above him is an "impotent board and inept, ignorant ownership" I agree though about the scenario if they leave with debt.. That point makes little sense though if many keep trotting out the "FFP is an excuse" stick. Please don't rack anymore debt up... I've no idea what the main difference is but I see us debt paid and Venky-free under two scenarios:1) Premier League football. Our best chances went with the parachute monies and we wasted time and opportunities (post-Kean) by entrusting a coach when we needed a manager. That remains one option though. Our final chance to do this involves keeping the existing squad and a new manager. "A McCarthy" would make some decent freebie signings and would have the contacts (and probably favours) for shrewd loans. "A Warburton" would have some idea about how to get the best out of the embarrassment of attacking options we currently have. 2) League Two. This will be a road of heartache, misery and double relegation, taking in administration and the RoversTrust negotiating with liquidators, Venkys (or their appointees), the council and the League along the way. Believe it or not, I'm not looking forward to standing out in the rain with a bucket trying to keep our club alive. Standing still is not a long term option. Stability is a fallacy. Hereford United, Portsmouth, Coventry, Blackpool, should serve as cautionary tales.

SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I absolutely will not accept second best for my football club. We have been excepting second best since the moment these gobbins took over the club I'm afraid to say.
Waggy76 Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I for one wont be bothering this season , Burnley at home if its not on SKY and maybe Preston, will be my only games ... Never in 46 years of going on , have I been so disinterested ... The Venkys have destroyed Blackburn Rovers and taken away all the hope and aspirations of the fans... Until they leave , we will continue to decline ... Venkys Out !

roverzee Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Venkys Out ! Venkys Out Out Out Venky's out Shaw out Bowyer out What riveting reading. All the bright sparks with such intelligent contributions.
Leonard Venkhater Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 What riveting reading. All the bright sparks with such intelligent contributions. Clear, though. Not all that unreasonable either, after all that has been done to the club they obviously love. If you don't like it, just move on to the next contribution..or go and read the Iliad!
JAL Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 What riveting reading. All the bright sparks with such intelligent contributions. It's like listening to Gary roverzee you can imagine how the players must switch off at half time.
Al Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 I'm not falling out with gumboots or anyone but simply saying that those of us of a certain generation who, for the past 50 odd years - and some much longer - have supported the club through good times and bad struggle to understand some of the reasoning that is being given for not following the club. As I said, I'm old school, no doubt old fashioned, out of date and the rest of it. The Rovers are my local club - and I've followed them from childhood and simply followed a long family tradition. If people think the price of a season ticket is too high then fair enough. However, I struggle to accept not following the club because of the manager, the players, the owners and the rest. Clubs like the Rovers go through lean periods and there is no doubt that this is a lean patch and likely to be so for some time to come. What I do object to is the fact that anyone who seems to post anything that is supportive of the club seems to incur the displeasure of a certain clique on here who seem to take great pleasure in knocking everything to do with Blackburn Rovers. If making snide remarks about the manager, certain players, officials and certain supporters is deemed acceptable then don't be surprised when some of us put the opposite viewpoint. Please feel free to put me on ignore if you find my views unacceptable.Much like you I have been a supporter all my life and will continue to buy a season ticket as long as I can physically get to matches. That is not to say however that they are above criticism as you and a couple of others seem to think. For instance I believe that that the manager is out of his depth and needs replacing. Having views is not disloyalty.
RevidgeBlue Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 I noticed in the latest LT it said neither GB nor Derek Shaw could be contacted for comment on Cairney's departure. That simply isn't good enough. Despite my recent comments about Cairney's faults and him being poor last season I feel we need a clear explanation from the manager of why TC didn't fit into his plans or a concession that he wanted to keep him but that he was sold to try and bring us more into line with ffp etc.

My view is that he has been instructed from Pune to liquidate as many of our valuable playing assets as he can as quickly as he can. I think operation 'bail out' is under way.
DanielMB Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Do you have any evidence at all for that thinking?
JBiz Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Do you have any evidence at all for that thinking? No, it's based on "if" we sell a load more players and "if" our owners/management stay silent forever.
Mercer Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Do you have any evidence at all for that thinking? Circumstances (both events and 'non' events) and decades of financial experience including insolvency - you get a feeling for these things. Would say nothing further on a MB.

Would say nothing further on a MB. You could be right, but why now? They turned down £10m+ for Rhodes not so long ago and dug their heels in over Gestede in January.
yoda Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 You could be right, but why now? They turned down £10m+ for Rhodes not so long ago and dug their heels in over Gestede in January. Why now, no more parachute payments and the promised promotion nowhere in sight
Dunnfc Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Why now, no more parachute payments and the promised promotion nowhere in sight This year is the last year of parachute payments. It's 8 million however with Norwich gaining promotion the rest of there payments are due to be split across the football league.
yoda Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 This year is the last year of parachute payments. It's 8 million however with Norwich gaining promotion the rest of there payments are due to be split across the football league. I though they had already mortgaged this years parachute payment

Rover_Shaun Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Bowyer does as he's told. Puppets are in box till they are needed.
Al Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 No, it's based on "if" we sell a load more players and "if" our owners/management stay silent forever. In view of recent sales and rumours of sales it's not a conclusion I would argue with.
Mercer Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 You could be right, but why now? They turned down £10m+ for Rhodes not so long ago and dug their heels in over Gestede in January. The Rhodes / Hull escapade is almost a full year and season ago when promotion was a more realistic ambition. Similarly, re Gestede, I would think Bowyer was still making positive noises to Pune in January about play-off / promotion hopes. Yoda is right, we are now further away than ever. It's inevitable, IMV, that at some point in time, the Raos will say enough is enough and seek to minimise their losses on the estimated £125million+ they've plundered on Rovers. As mentioned earlier, my view is that Bowyer told them last June that he'd get them up in 2014/15 and as it hasn't happened they've decided to call time on Rovers. I may be wrong but in the absence of any sort of communication, since last season ended, from either owners or Exec Management in terms of future strategy, objectives and plans, you do fear the worse !
