Nowt to do with fashion, in my opinion. Not sure about de rigeur either, although I do get that frustration and anger probably generate more exciting prose than good old loyalty etc.

I happen to think that loyalty and love of the club are shared by people on both extremes. Yes, I love Rovers, but I am sick to the stomach about what is going on.

Right now, I don't think it is good for my mental health to put myself through any more of the Indian charade and denial.

OK so some guy in a suit might stand in the dug out and eleven men may even have the nerve to wear that famous blue and white shirt, but it's just doesn't feel like Blackburn Rovers any more... A lot of that is about leadership, hearts and minds and belief-the very things that have been arrogantly p***d down the drain....

That's exactly how I feel, it's gone beyond just turning up to cheer.

The club needs cleansing from top to bottom.

Cairney has thanked Bowyer for making him a better player on Twitter, nice words from a departing player.

Indeed. And in the interests of balance, that should not be overlooked.

Unfortunately, we'll only see how much better when he's not wearing the blue and white halves.

Took TC a while to get around to that but fair play. All the evidence of his last comment is a bit wide of the mark though. Although now the history books say that Bowyer and Rovers took a 500k player and turned him into a 2.2 million + one in a couple of seasons. Football is so full of bullshit at times it's unreal

He got there a heck of a lot faster that Bowyer or the club. I don't remember hearing a murmur out of him when regularly being played out of position, despite the impact it was clearly having on his game. Maybe someone can put me right on both counts?

The correct comments really should be thanks Gaz and Rovers for allowing me so many mins on the pitch whether I was good bad or indifferent in order to increase may game time and subsequent value because of this. Because that's what happened, first season yes he was decent but last season after the first few games he looked undermotivated, unfit and lacking belief. Deffo was going backwards for some reason.

That's going to wind a few up on here!!

Wonder how they will twist that against GB?

Strange that he didn't complain as he played some of the best and most consistent football of the career "out of position" in his first year winning player of the season - people seem to forget that.

Well done to Tom Cairney! Finally someone speaks out.

I have a lot of respect for Tom Cairney for making the effort to go onto social media to send a message to the good people at Blackburn Rovers following his transfer. Cairney clearly has a lot of respect for the club for the role it has played in his career, and feels that there is a need to send a message out to people.

The club clearly feels that the only broadcast required when selling one of its best players to Fulham is a few pathetic lines on its website confirming the deal and not a word of thanks to the player concerned or any sort of explanation. It is nothing short of a shameful way to treat a player who has served this club well in his time here and is also a shameful way to treat supporters who want and are entitled to an explanation as to what on earth is going on at the club.

Cairney will never be considered a 'club legend' but is a player who joined this club, showed complete commitment and dedication throughout his time here and not once disrespected the club or its supporters. He has conducted himself professionally from the moment he joined the club. However, the actions of the club in the last few days represents the ultimate insult and disrespect to both player and supporters.

At this stage the club hasn't bothered to give an explanation. It hasn't bothered to wish TC well for the future. Then again it hasn't bothered to do anything at all this summer. The level of communication and engagement for supporters has been beyond belief for a Championship Football Club. There would be more communication and engagement at most amateur football clubs than there has been here this summer. It is embarrassing from my point of view. It is particularly ironic that we are the only club in the Championship to have a 'Director of Communications' yet we are so far behind our Championship rivals from a PR and communications perspective it is frightening.

I get the impression Tom Cairney himself is embarrassed at the way his transfer has been handled. That is why after waiting for 4-5 days he has felt the need to go on twitter and give some sort of statement, because he has now realized that the clowns running his former club won't be making any kind of statement or comment as to what has gone on.

So I personally wish Tom Cairney all the best. I don't believe he actively wanted to leave Rovers, and he has become the 'better man' by being sensible and brave enough to take to the media and address supporters properly. He knows the value of treating people with respect, unlike most of the people involved with Blackburn Rovers these days.

Good luck with your future career Tom. Maybe one day the club will get round to acknowledging your contribution or explaining why you were sold off but if not I'm sure you'll be in the Premier League a lot sooner than we are.

I don't know how big a loss he'll be but it's always good to realise there are still young footballers with manners, something that, reading all too many media stories, you forget. Even if it's his agent advising him, it's nice to see a good agent who knows how to handle people

The fact it took so long for him to get around to it suggests he may have had a bit of prompting seeing as he was on twitter seeming very excited when it first went through. Anybody on there will see players almost on a daily basis even from the likes of Chorley Fc just saying thanks for the support, I wish you well type of thing right from the min news of them leaving comes out.

As always these days with Rovers there was something odd and not quite right about it but I think it TC seemed genuine, apart from the last bit of course :rover: I genuinely wish him well and expect him to show what he's really capable of.

Has bowyer made any kind of comment in public since the end of last season, the place has been even quieter than usual the past month, me thinks theres some goings on going on.

It is unprecedented for a professional football club.

I go on twitter a lot. Every other club in the League and Conference and below are constantly updating their supporters every day with regards to the new season. News, transfers, training, ground improvements, future plans, new sponsors, new kits, ticket sales and much much more are uploaded to their websites virtually every day.

A quick glance at the Rovers website and twitter page would lead you to believe that the club had almost ceased functioning since the end of last season. Barring a few minor pieces of information like the new fixtures being released and various charity events there has been nothing.

What are they actually doing at Ewood all summer long? Do they just sit there waiting for instructions from Venkys that never come?

I'm surprised we've even bothered lining up pre-season games. We're just about the only Championship club that hasn't got at least one game lined up abroad or against higher level opposition - once again due to a complete lack of effort and interest on the part of the club.

The club is in some kind of collective stupor.

I think it was yourself JH that compared last summer- i.e. 'The Golden Ticket', the adding of the montages and 3D images around the ground, the FanZone, the Birdy kit launch etc with the desert of marketing that has been 2015.

Now you may decry them as gimmicky window dressing and of course they were, but it at least gave you some reassurance that there was some dynanism at the club.

This summer they don't even seem to be particulary trying to hard sell season tickets. Last summer there was email mailshots, constant reminders on social media etc.

Suspended animation down at Ewood Park.

I went in the other week to buy a baseball cap to take on holiday. I was told they don't stock them and the only hats they sell are winter bobble hats. I asked what use they were in the middle of June when I'm going on holiday to Spain, and in response I got the usual shoulder shrugging.

A 'couldn't care less' attitude exists throughout.

Always found the staff in the shop and ticket section at Rovers quite helpful and pleasant. As always the malaise around the gaff starts from above and probably doesn't take long to filter down. I have to say the worst I've seen in terms of stock (most of it non Rovers related) and attitude was when they turned it over to Mike Ashley's cheapskate outfit.

Reasonable comment Matty.
