roverandout Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Back in the old days before the forces of mordor turned up rovers hired and fired managers for the right reasons, Ray harford was tried and failed and let go because he wasn't up to it, hodgson was even let go even after a successful first season, Brian Kidd we all thought would be a genious appointment, after all he was the brains behind man utd success many thought but again he was let go because jack knew we were going nowhere. Tony parkes took over, results were mixed and he Repeatedly turned the job down because in his own heart he knew he wasn't what was best for Blackburn rovers. Souness came in and he kicked some arse, a proper manager who wasnt interested in being popular, he demanded results. After a while it went stale and walked before he was pushed. Hughes was appointed , he was a risk but it proved to be inspired , he took the club on and brought some good times back. His success didn't go unnoticed and then it was up to Williams to repeat the success, sadly it failed with ince as he was an unmitigated disaster . so Williams went down the experienced route and brought in allardyce who steadied the ship. Venkys came in and in one fell swoop undid all that hard work. Appointing novice after novice. The only one who I thought had some balls was Appleton sadly his results on the pitch didn't match his talk. Yet again they went down the same path with bowyer without the balls. I suppose the moral is previous regime hired and fired for the right reasons. These lot have done it with a hidden agenda. I had to write this down as its been swimming around my head all day.
BlooBoy Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Yeovil match stunk as much as Spurs away under @#/? As much as Rovers not wanting to go up in the 80s...?
Pedro Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Without fans he's no effing job Or, (possibly) without a wife who's friendly with madam...he's no effing job.
old darwen blue Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 As much as Rovers not wanting to go up in the 80s...? The directors didn't want promotion as it would cost them too much. Didn't you know that?
ABBEY Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Bowyer said: "We have this embargo and he feels that Middlesbrough might be stronger contenders than ourselves, but thats at this stage of the season.
BlooBoy Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 The directors didn't want promotion as it would cost them too much. Didn't you know that? yeah yeah yeah ..i heard it at the time ..
martonrover Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 I wouldn't go so far as saying Bowyer is trying to avoid promotion. I would say that it isn't his priority, hence the constant talk of player values, and that his ethos of setting out not to lose rather than to win ensures promotion is unattainable.

One of the reasons we won't get promotion under honourable Gaz.. Wonder how we'll cope if God forbidden we get relegated and the loons are still here
AllRoverAsia Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 One of the reasons we won't get promotion under honourable Gaz.. Wonder how we'll cope if God forbidden we get relegated and the loons are still here Why have the owners kept GB when he has failed in their stated aim of promotion back to the PL. OK he's cheap but with riches beyond avarice in the PL keeping GB makes no sense to me. Surely even the owners know that this season relegation is a real possibility. I agree with others who think he's happy to build his own career and a record of selling players on at a profit, which will be attractive to future Employers.

I don't think the owners do know that relegation this season is a real possibility. If we were bottom of the league after 15 games I don't think they would suddenly decide to sack Bowyer and then go out and appoint a proven manager. I don't want to compare him to Kean because he is nothing like Kean, but I do believe his position with the owners is similar i.e. they like him and he is 'their man', willing/able to operate under their system, and as such he can stay for as long as he wants to.
OJRovers Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Let's see how long this lasts from Gaz: Thats due to the restrictions but we wont use that as an excuse when the season gets underway because we cant use it as an excuse." I give it until the Shrewsbury cup tie.

roverandout Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I will go as far as to say opening day defeat to wolves
LewisF Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I will go as far as to say opening day defeat to wolves Sounds about right
Roverthechimp Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Interested to hear why we would be relegation certs under Bowyer when (baldy aside) he is the only manager we have had in the Championship who hasn't delivered relegation form??
Athlete Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Interested to hear why we would be relegation certs under Bowyer when (baldy aside) he is the only manager we have had in the Championship who hasn't delivered relegation form?? er one win in how many around December last year ??? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/blackburn-rovers/results

Yes simply because he had two strikers who scored 40 goals between them. We will see this season if they both leave
Roverthechimp Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 er one win in how many around December last year ??? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/blackburn-rovers/results Using that logic we could also handpick a few games to show promotion will be a formality... JHRover Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Pointless at this stage to try and predict where we will end up. We have no idea what our squad will look like come September 2nd. If we're down near the bottom 3 then embargo or not Bowyer will be under intense pressure and the consensus will be to sack him. If we're not near the bottom 3 then most people will think that he has done a good job of keeping us going despite the cost cutting and embargo. If people have decided we will be relegation fodder and we're not through July yet then the chances are that we will turn out to be just that, as the negativity and downbeat attitude from the supporters will quickly flow down onto the pitch. To achieve anything we need to go into the season confident and upbeat that we can achieve success in a fiercely competitive division in which Watford, Bournemouth and Brentford finished in the top six last season.
tomphil Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 In order to do that we need some bullish attitude from the manager on and off the pitch to inspire the team. Hopefully the crowd will buy into it and get behind them. Leadership !!!!

Pointless ? Why ? Bowyer already said top 6 or top 2. Or is he lying ?

Apart from the 500 or so on the Darwen End that's hilarious. At least they turn up though. It's better than sitting in an armchair moaning.

All this 'ever so well' and 'have a right good go' soppy crap is the way my 80 odd yr old mam talks about stuff.
