You remember that game v Boro on a Friday night? Was it Kean's last as manager? We had to beat them to go top.

We were abysmal. The wheels started to fall off at that point and boos of derision descended on Ewood as per usual with Coco.

So, he fluked a few results eg Bristol City away, but reality returned that night. No way would that team ever have been promoted.

Kean, of course, has been living off that ever since but Like THAT result against Arsenal or THAT result against Manu or THAT tackle there was no substance to it.

Remember the Barnsley match not long before and they were all over us but we pinched a late winner, similar to the Boro match. We had Forest & Charlton away after that Boro game, certain defeats under coco.

ill take 1-0 boring football every day of the week. But hey, Bowyer cant even manage that, because he still cant sort out the defence. I still have no idea what the need is for a defensive coach, when the defence is @#/? anyway. Imo we should do all we can to bring in Henry or another quality CB from somewhere. If i was Bowyer, i would contact United, and see if they willing to loan us Blackett or McNair. i know both havent been great when given a chance, but think at this level they will do okay, and both will hardly get much playing time under LVG this season

We'll never do anything in this league whilst we continue with our central midfield and defence. I'm 100% Hanley and Duffy can't bear to be near each other, thats the only reason why there should ever be 30 yards between the two centre backs.

“But the bid came in, it was accepted by the owners, and, from a business point of view, I think the mark-up was something like 3,000 per cent.

“We’ll probably have Dragons’ Den interested in us soon because I think it was something like a 600 per cent mark-up on Tom Cairney too!

“So, from a business perspective, the club has obviously invested the money better, but from a footballing perspective, we’ve lost an unbelievable striker.

Very Kean-esque.

Obviously these comments are aimed at Pune and you can't blame Bowyer for knowing his audience.

However, talk about false economy. Instead of making 'profit' on players, if the owners had maintained a proper infrastructure and management team at the club, we'd be raking in the cash.

What happens when all our decent players have gone? We buy Johnny Journeyman from Melchester Rovers for a bag of balls and some cones and sell him for £10k, is that seen as 'success' and 'profit', though we hapen to be losing £10million a year?!

All clubs try to make money on players and there's nothing wrong with that. The aim though has to be to improve THE TEAM, not improve a group of individuals. Some times, many times, clubs take players on who they know they won't make a profit on - they take players on who they know they'll probably lose money on - quality players coming to the end of their careers. Bowyer and the club seem to be putting all their eggs into the player development basket. We've been working that way for a few years now and it isn't working. It won't work.

If Gary B can get Adam Le Fondre to Ewood, whatever happens in the next month it will have been a good Summer, under the circumstances. The real issues lie in Pune. Gary's only real fault lies in the Defence and the link with midfield -and I ask where is the evidence of Craig Short's astute coaching. No-one complained about Howard '1-0' Kendall and that period was very boring!

No, it really doesn't.

Too fixated on not losing rather than winning, tactically questionable, too much tinkering with the team, poor use of substitutes, pet players guaranteed to start if fit, style of play too slow.

Those are faults that instantly spring to mind.

I live in hope that it might change this season.

To be honest its really hard to know of we have bought quality and Bowyer jas improved until the season starts. If Koita, Peschi and (if we sign them as sounds likely) ALF, Delfy and Guthrie make a big impression then great. That - alongside getting more out of Marshall, Conway, Hanley etc - is what out season hinges on.

To be honest gut feel - Delfy perhaps aside - is they are a good set of signings/targets, better than I thought we would be able to attract. ALF and Guthrie (again if we sign them) add a lot of the experience we have been missing. Cruel hope springs once again.

So for me I am back in the "give Bowyer 8 league games and see where we are" camp. Probably 3rd time in it. I would have let him go last October if we had someone better lines up - which I have always thought is beyond Shaw/Venkys.

It gets scary when you realise that when we get out of FUP there will be lots of gaps in GB's talks that need filling with something.

As soon as the embargo is lifted, Bowyer will be in trouble as he wont have his convenient excuse lined up and he will actually have to talk about results and performances. He's already said that promotion/play-offs are the aim since the end of last season. I just hope that he is held to that. I can't wait to see the defence of Bowyer by his staunch supporters when he fails again. How low will we have to drop this year before some are able to admit he needs potting. I worry that some on here want what's best for Gary Bowyer, not what's best for Blackburn Rovers.

He's never spoken about results. Everything else, but not results.

Give me Bowyer getting us promoted any day of the week and I'll post a vid on here of me eating a cork hat whilst shoving a didgeridoo where the sun don't shine. I'll do it all with a smile on my face as well.

I'll just do the cork hat if we get play-offs.

I'm not looking forward to us failing, I am just void of any optimism with the current incumbents in charge and think that Bowyer is the cherry on the cake, a man who's assisting in damaging the club but gets off scot-free because he's a nice guy.

I am however, looking forward to hearing the excuses peddled to justify why Bowyer's job security is more important than the financial security and viability of Blackburn Rovers Football Club.

If we magically get promoted I'm holding you to this :)

Well, well, well.

Who knew off the top of their heads that Gestede's purchase fee of (8 million) was 3000 percent more than 200k?

Nobody?

Good because it isnt. If my maths are correct 3000 percent mark up on 200k is 6 million.

But, but, but, Mercerman is a con-artist keep telling us all it was 6 million reported everywhere, not the 8 million Kamy has suggested.

So has Gary unwittingly just admitted that Rudy was sold for 6 million?

Whatever, I don't really care. What I do care about is our football manager buying a calculator to work out the 3000 percent and 600 percent transfer profit on the players sold, prior to immediately doing his LET interview. Percentage mark up profits? In all my footballing life, and that includes working for a pro-team, I have never, ever heard a manager calculating percentage mark-ups.

Does he really think this garbage is endearing anyone to him? Squad values, player values, selling profits, player development. Dragons Den? What a plank.

How about results, performances, tactics and league positions? What about hitting playing and performance targets instead of downsizing our ambitions and quality ,whilst crowing to your boss about making a few quid. Which in the wider scheme of things does not prevent us losing money each year anyway.

Disappointing. We are slowly seeing the mark of the man and what money, coupled with pressure, does to many.

You can be a bit of a spikey character and I've no desire to get into a spat with anyone again but, in my opinion, that post was some desperate nonsense.

Lol. I was thinking exactly the same thing, Matty. Just try reading any of Bowyer's quotes in a male Cumbernauld accent.

Percentage mark ups?? Whatever next.

It's got to the point now where Gaz needs to stop talking and making excuses and get points on the board. He seems like the only manager in football who doesn't have this as his main objective! If football clubs didn't have supporters and were simply business enterprises the this would be fine - but they are not!
