No pal its not just you and you raise a good point that obviously the club manager should be aware of the current finances. I have my own business, so find that side of the club interesting anyway. Normally however, a Finance Director or maybe Managing Director would talk in such terms, not the manager of the football team with a million and one other things to concern himself with.

And yes the season is yet to start so there are few games other than pre-season to review or discuss. However, it is not a recent event discussing squad values and has been mentioned during last season, after last season and now before this season starts. So it is clearly a topical defence / message for Bowyer to keep repeating, irrespective of the time of year.

I don't know his role profile of course. If charged with making profit on player sales maybe he feels justified with such puffery. Most managers are based on performances and results which is why it is a tad suprising he focuses so much on things largely irrelevant to events on the pitch.

In my line of work, I was always keen that the sales team, for example, understood profitability of product lines, so I'm not a fan of leaving the numbers to the numbers men. And, as you say, it may well be part of his job description, who knows. Also, to be fair to him, media interviews, while part of his job, are very hard to do well. Having done more than a few myself over the years, there wasn't one I wouldn't have taken back and redone.

Having said all that, he reminds me of a chemist plucked out of the QC lab and put in the front office.

Saturdays match, I was there, was like this, get the ball pass sideways many times as possible, then pass back back to eventually the goalkeeper no matter what the dangers were and big boot up field, repeat infinitum, Bowyer has learned F all.

I'd like to know how many defence splitting passes lowey has made in the last few years..

We've been a selling club for donkeys years I'm afraid. Even Jack Walker wanted us to 'wash our face' eventually. I'm afraid it's a fact of life that we have to focus on profits made from players as, as is constantly pointed out on here, we are bleeding out financially. Bowyer is entitled to blow his trumpet a bit about the profits he's been instrumental in generating, after all he'll get precious little credit on here

Jack Walker wanted to wash our faces..

God the amber nectar is strong today

Jack wanted us to break even. Bowyer already said we have to make sure it is us celebrating making the playoffs or better this coming season (after the ipswich game). Jack did not, and Bowyer will not see those wishes come true.

Correct that ranks with the worst ever interview of any football manager

Im still fuming about it, its treating people with contempt and like they are thick.

I don't remember who claims GB doesn't get a cut of transfer fees, but I've worked with enough salespeople to tell you thats a reaction I have only seen from someone personally making money out of the deal.

I don't think there's anything malicious in Bowyer's comments - they remind me of something John Carver or Joe Kinnear would say. Stupid but not necessarily meant in a devious way. I understand that people will say he's saying it to strengthen his position with those in Pune, but does he need to? He seems untouchable anyway.

The gravy train is most definitely still rolling.

Assuming 'Gaz' is correct about the % mark-up on RG then this confirms a deal worth £6million and not £8million ! If it was £8million, I think you can rest assured 'Gaz' would be peddling 4000% for all he was worth !

As for Dunny, I think a number of us have heard the rumours that he was fit for selection for about 80% of the games but simply not chosen.

IMV, Bowyer is quite some way from being the popular, respected 'gaffer' that local journalists and the Bowyerettes would have us believe.

I was wondering how long it took for someone else to pick this up...!!

But merc, even if he's not the well respected gaffer we all think he is he's hardly the main problem down at Ewood.

You big enough, old enough and ugly enough to know that the real issues sit with the owners and the man that almost destroyed PNE.

Another day, another load of paranoid over reaction. I wonder what tomorrow will bring?

The same i'd imagine, but with added paranoia, more outlandish accusations of a manger on the take, redundant comparisons with Kean and made up percentages on Dunn's selection availabilty.

Then they'll all go to bed happy in the knowledge they gave it a 'right good go'.

No hatey, no likey.

In your Ewood office bright and early today !

Think Rovers have history in this department, Salgado, Robinson to name but two.

As for made-up, trying getting out of your office and putting yourself about a bit - surprising what you hear. Based upon the 'rumours' I have heard, I would suggest there is more than likely to be some strong foundation there.

We'll never do anything in this league whilst we continue with our central midfield and defence. I'm 100% Hanley and Duffy can't bear to be near each other, thats the only reason why there should ever be 30 yards between the two centre backs.

Totally agree. I've never seen positioning like that in my life! Definitely don't get on.

Yep Gary trotting out the old profit cliche again, we have made a 3000 percent profit on him, shame we can't spend that 3000

Those players must have been playing for free then if that's the profit made.

i didn't expect the paranoia to start this early. well played sir!

Based on the 'rumours' you hear Rovers no longer exist, Wee Dougie is managing Brazil and Rhodes is about to leave for Accy on a free. :)

It's definitely you who needs to get out more...or less.

Duffy jumped on Hanleys back when he scored in the Wigan match. Was this an ironic display of disdain or a pre-meditated attack?
