Don't forget the El Hadji Diouf school of not getting a cross in early and our general 'anti-momentum' tactic.

We seem allergic to getting crosses in and the full backs just seem to get stage fright when they get to the halfway line and won't run forward. Hyper frustrating.

Welcome to the other side, you've changed your tune!

No change mate...absolute consistency. GB's done a brilliant job on the whole in desperately hard circs....but cannot set a team up. tactically naive IMO

Agree entirely mustard.

In his first season and up to Christmas last term, though I felt he was tactically poor, I did see a real fighting spirit from the players.

Since then a general malaise seems that have engulfed the squad, they look unfit, de-motivated and certainly not playing for the manager.

Watching the Shrewsbury warm up gave you an insight into the likely professional set up at their (presumably modest) training ground, a place that probably can't hold a candle to Brockhall, however whatever facilities you possess if the culture is not one that is geared to getting every ounce out of your players and moulding a real team ethic, you are going nowhere.

Into his third season and I've not got the foggiest to what his style of play is, the defence is worse than ever and the whole operation is crying out for a change.

The thing is with Shrewsbury I wouldn't be surprised if their staff at certain levels are more experienced and better qualified than ours. You can have all the facilities money can buy but if the people using them aren't of a similar standard they might as well train at the local sports centre. But it's ok at our place as long as you say you have the club at heart.

Brilliant job is bunkum

...and in football terms away from sourcing players he reached his ceiling last Christmas. I really fear we are going to rocket backwards now despite him still bringing in a decent face or two. No idea whatsoever to do with them.

Please can you describe specifically the "desperately hard circs" that Bowyer has been operating under in his 2 full seasons as manager?

I'd be interested in that too. He must be buzzing, promoted above his abilities and permitted to sign thirty - odd players (who he can point the finger at to cover up his failings) Expectations now at zero, failure rewarded and hardly a murmur about his suitability for the role from the powers that be, or as yet, the stands.

I'd do his job at the drop of the hat but I'd be sacked in no time because I can't abide bullshit, failure, laziness and complacency.

When you listen to a person's voice you can generally get the gist of that person's mood.Dissatisfaction and happiness are audibly expressive through tone of voice.

Why did Bowyer sound almost jovial after that performance and result last night? :glare:

There is something very, very wrong here.

Hello from sunny (so far) Cornwall.

When you don't appoint the best man you can for the job, this is where you've every chance of finishing up.

And are mates with Gary or Uncle Derek. Qualifications? Experience? Forget that. As long as you give it a right good go, you're in.

Been saying it since the start of last season, Bowyer doesn't have a clue tactically.

Regardless of his succeses in the transfer market, that counts for nothing when you're sending out players without a clue how to set them up or motivate them.

Posted

When people go on about a 'style' of play, it's fairly defined I'd say.

1. Long goal kick to nowhere that ends up gifting play to the opposition.

2. A few 5 yard passes at the back from our ball fearing central midfielders, then a long hoof that ends up going nowhere.

Someone's description of 'Allardyce style football without the results' was bang on the money.

Defensive midfielders that don't really defend as well.....

Disagree Sam's teams got it in the box, created chances, and were feared from set pieces. Our lumping it into the box is gratefully received by the opposition defenders. Huge differences imo

Gary bowyer in the lancs telerag when asked if he felt let down

'No I don't feel let down' pretty much sums up his spineless management, which clearly shows he's too afraid to get into the players and will probably be repeated on saturday

That's the thing though, despite Bowyer's insistence, I don't think we ever actually do have a right good go!!

There's a lack of fighting spirit under team GB another thing sadly missing

Wish we still had him. Head and shoulders above anything we have in midfield.

If Venky's had any kind of sense they would hire Davies, McCarthy, Mackay, Adkins, Pearson!

if he doesnt feel let down by these performances, then we have to be afraid, very very afraid for this season and what will happen if he remains in charge. He is another puppet, that has landed up in this circus. He should take ownership of these performances, but instead he tries and blames the players.

I don't usually care about interviews but he did look so pathetic at the end of the Shrewsbury game. Its really hard to see him tearing a strip off the players or as, others have said, inspiring them.

In all honesty performances are secondary to results in this business. Had we won both matches with similar performances I for one would not be complaining.

And that it one of my gripes about Bowyer in that he doesn't appear to have a winning mentality or know how to win games.

I liked him, we miss players like him - I just did not like how he had to try to beat the fullback three times before crossing. Currently, I really like Conway though. Very direct, takes a lot of hits and dusts himself down and goes again. Maybe it would get the players and crowd going if they grabbed a couple of throats after being fouled, rather than being gents.

So true pedro , there's no bite , no nastiness and no fighting team spirit .

Never will be whilst bowyer installs his personilty on the team.

Bowyer would make them go back over and apologise two mins later.
