thenodrog Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Whatever people say the fact remains that bowyer has worked under less than perfect conditions of having to massively cut the wage bill and has still been the best manager of the last 4. Having said that there does come a time when managers need changing. It's usually when it becomes obvious that he has lost the players. Last night's 2nd half (and from what I hear ditto at Huddersfield) suggests that is not the case as yet. Maybe if he continues with strange team selections that will change. Lots of grumbling around me but I was the only one who was vocal about it.?Doesn't grumbling require the use of vocal chords?

Coatbridge rover Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 I posted in the ardiff match thread that the anti bowyers should get a plane ✈ for the Bolton match. It will never happen because everyone off you know he is not at fault, that lies with venkys.
G Somerset Rover Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 'Right good go' - check. Strangely lacking on the 'ever so well' front though: http://m.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/13611748.Gary_Bowyer_pleased_by_Blackburn_Rovers__resilience_in_Cardiff_City_draw/?ref=mac
Mattyblue Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 "And, under the rules of the embargo, we’re only allowed to do loans and frees, and I think the ones that we’ve brought in have had a right good go." Thought we wouldn't be 'hiding behind the embargo"?
chris_h Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 "And, under the rules of the embargo, we’re only allowed to do loans and frees, and I think the ones that we’ve brought in have had a right good go." Thought we wouldn't be 'hiding behind the embargo"? If Bowyer said that then it was a daft remark in my opinion. I don't see how you can disregard a factor that, by most people's estimation, will have a huge influence on how our season maps out.
AllRoverAsia Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Bowyer said last night: “I think we had £20m worth of talent missing up front tonight with Jordan Rhodes being out, the sale of Rudy Gestede, who’s started magnificently at Aston Villa, and Josh King, who I thought performed well last night for Bournemouth (at Liverpool).'' Dear Gary, If you or one of your staff are reading this please note the following: Gestede and King were not 'missing' which infers that they may be found and returned. They have been fecking SOLD you dimwit which I maybe should expain means that they are no longer available for selection by you. How they did for their new Clubs is also of no fecking interest to me. Regards. ARA''
Coatbridge rover Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 I found that a very strange comment as well, but if it was reported in the telewag,id take it with a pinch of salt.

He will be hiding behind it at every opportunity and I suppose you can't blame him. However, it will also ensure that he takes no responsibilites for his own failings- it will grate on the fans more and more.
JHRover Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 I found Bowyer's comments strange. In his programme notes before the game he referred to the similarities between ourselves and Cardiff in terms of us both recently coming down from the Premier League and having to make significant cut backs to wages and having a huge turnover in personnel. Then after the game on Radio Rovers he said that Cardiff would be in the top 6 for sure this season. Well then surely if they can manage a top six position given their difficulties then we should be looking at doing the same? Two points dropped last night. More pressure to get that first win at Brighton this weekend. But I expect us to go there and play for a draw and we'll be lucky to come out of it with a point.

tomphil Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 It seems Josh King who Bowyer hardly ever used even when fit has now turned into a fantastic talent now he's no longer here. The guy is becoming insufferable now and if I was Myers I'd gag him before we get penalty box entries etc.
Coatbridge rover Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 The josh king comments are very strange, king claimed he was fit and raring to play, the manager thought otherwise. He has played the 1st hour of both bournmouths games to little effect in my eyes.
tomphil Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Not really about Kings ability but more the fact it's now another stick for Gaz to cling to when talking to the media. Most Rovers fans will scratch their head at it seeing as he hardly seemed to rate him in the previous couple of seasons.
Coatbridge rover Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Exactly I wonder sometimes if players were not played because of contracts add ons, remember king was a shebby deal.
Backroom DE. Posted August 19, 2015 Backroom Posted August 19, 2015 Bowyer seems to be losing the plot, he's already come out with some absolute garbage and we're only three games in. Yes, we're working under restrictions but let's remember we have plenty of players who were paid for before the embargo hit. Steele, Olsson, Duffy, Conway, Evans, Marshall and Rhodes all commanded fees. We also have Hanley who's an established international player, albeit for Scotland. We may not have been able to strengthen significantly but the squad isn't made up entirely of free transfers and loans. 2 points out of 9 is a bad start to the season regardless of the excuses Bowyer puts out, and if we lose at Brighton 2 points out of 12 will be even worse.
J*B Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Bowyer is the sort of manager who would rather base a team around Hanley and Lowe rather than Rhodes. That tells its own story.
Blue blood Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Latest excuse on bbc is a point isn:t bad for a team thrown together in the last week. What the heck. - only barrow and apkan have joined recently. The man is constantly changing reality to offer excuses and I'm sick of it.
tomphil Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 The man is constantly changing reality to offer excuses and I'm sick of it. That's a bit like how he runs the team.
Rover_Shaun Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 A mate emailed me a "leaked memo". It tickled me anyway http://www.pictr.com/?v=nzubqzte72.jpg
Stuart Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 A mate emailed me a "leaked memo". It tickled me anyway http://www.pictr.com/?v=nzubqzte72.jpg And so the lampooning begins.Bowyer needs results and fast.
Amo Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 If we had the right structure in place, I'd like to see Gareth Ainsworth in charge. Think he's done a decent job at Wycombe, he's a local lad, and if you squint he kind of looks like Ned Stark.

Well if he did come here it probably wouldn't be long before some would want his head on a spike
allanncd Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Whilst Bowyer has made some good and some decent signings (as well as dross that disappeared without trace) he is a serial underachiever when it comes to points on the board. This is due to crass team selection, baffling and inappropriate tactics and ineffective substitutions. A squad containing two of the division's top scorers should not have finished 30 points behind Watford and I fear that whilst the current squad is capable of a mid to lower table finish, in Bowyer's hands relegation is a very distinct possibility.
