RevidgeBlue Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 This is not like any previous other 'low' though. There has always been a feeling that the owners and board have had the best interests of the club at heart and that winning football matches is the priority. If managers haven't performed or have lost the players or the majority of the fans then they have been replaced. Currently our managers are seemingly unsackable, and we appear to be a lowly item on a monthly agenda as far as the owners are concerned, despite being held to ransom by the unmanageable debt and likely liquidation if they leave. I struggle to see how we can simply put this one down to the normal ebb and flow of a football club. The thing that keeps me going is the thought that we're only the appointment of a decent manager away from winning promotion after which it could potentially be milk and honey from thereon in, particularly with the new TV deals about to kick in. That and the hope that the debts are relatively inconsequential to Venkys and that they don't suddenly get bored with us. Whilst that continues to be the case I certainly don't think things are as bad as some of the dark days of the 70's and 80's yet, but not knowing the owners' real take on the current situation makes you wake up wondering if each day could potentially be our last and that's not ideal to say the least.

RevidgeBlue Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Obviously not. Not at the cost of a long haul flight ++. I'm depressed (and yes it is an illness) - not stupid. Gumboots - you are getting very close to saying that if your arse is not on a seat at Ewood then I'm not aRovers fan. I suffer this period of our history too. BTW - despite living O/S now for 30years I had a ST from 1974 until the end of Kean's first Season. Also through me at least a dozen family memebers are Rovers fans and 4 ST's. Me too. Direct, physical and some good results and some bloody good players who bought into Big Sam's concepts. I didn't enjoy the games under Sam at all. Robinson launching a howitzer onto Samba's head on the opposition penalty spot him flicking it off and someone trying to get on the end of it. That said not being entertained and staying up is obviously way better than being relegated and still not being entertained as was the case last season and for most of the one before that.

I could agree with this concept too: to quote ''Another Club like Newcastle who presumably think that if you're going to finish mid table and sack off the Cup competitions etc you might as well watch entertaining football in the process'' - if in the PL
unsall Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 But it does make a difference. Were you at ewood every home game this season? Did you sit through the torture longing to go home and watch the paint you put on earlier dry because it was more interesting than anything rovers were doing on the pitch? You didn't see it or experience it - the week in, week out mind numbing boredom and the feeling, even when we won, that it was more by good luck than anything else. There's feeling miserable and then there's what rovers have done to us this year. I can't call it depression. That's an actual illness, but it was pretty awfulBloody hell man, that's serious depression,I know we weren't quite Barcelona, but there were some very decent games, some indifferent and some crap games, but you can't say the whole season was that bad, your certainly not on your own, plenty of fans around me are like you, always glass half empty, even before we kick off,We are a small town club who's had an unbelievable ride in the last 20 years, ups downs, indifferent seasons, life goes around in circles, like I always say, support the club, not the owners/manager/ players, they all come and go,but it will still be BRFC....

My own son lives in s Korea and my daughter in Germany. My other kids live in Manchester (but can't get to matches because working in sport makes it hard to get Saturdays free) and in Gateshead. All are rovers fans. All I mean is the extreme boredom has to be experienced to be believed. You really can't appreciate that if you haven't been there. As preston blue says, name 3 exciting games. I can't
Parsonblue Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Is Chaddy related to you Parson? Sorry den, I hadn't realised that misery was compulsory on here
Stuart Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 You say "currently our managers are unsackable " Kean,Black,Berg,Appleton all sacked, think what you mean is Bowyer, difficult call when we are under a transfer embargo,we all wanted stability and what he's done with having to get rid of all Shebbys/Kean signings is not a bad job,I know he has some faults, but what decent manager will come here under FFP,I say give him till Xmas and see where we are and hopefully out of the embargo,he has signed a few very good players for peanuts, odd bad ones but so has everyone else...Kean resigned. Berg and Appleton were part of a pantomime. Black? Really, you're going to include Black? Are you new? The thing that keeps me going is the thought that we're only the appointment of a decent manager away from winning promotion after which it could potentially be milk and honey from thereon in, particularly with the new TV deals about to kick in.The thing that keeps you going is exactly the thing that depresses me most.
unsall Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Unsall, please name 3 decent performances last season. If you didn't think there were 3 decent performances, all season, there's something wrong, like I said there were some very good, some average and some dire,,,,,At home we had 3 cracking cup ties,Stoke,Swansea and Liverpool, league games at home,Bournemouth,Derby played very well even thought we got beat, another good performance against Norwich,Forest,,,,,Away Norwich again, good win at Forrest,3 0 at Leeds, first half at Bolton, best all season should have won 5 0,and not too bad at Huddersfield,Millwall and Bournmouth, but your saying not even 3 games, your wrong...
roverandout Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Is Chaddy related to you Parson? I think parson has a leash around chaddy's neck
LDRover Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Best games I witnessed last season were Brentford, Derby and Norwich at home. And that was because of the quality of football from the opposition. I can't believe some are excusing the quality of the fare down at Ewood last season. Off the top of my head there were the Brighton, Rotherham, Blackpool and Wolves games that were all truly appalling.

Cup and some away games we appeared to be a completely different team.

Of those good performances in the league, we won 3 out of 11. In the 8 we didn't win, we led in 7 and threw it away. That about sums it all up. Gumboots is right. After Bolton away and Forest at home, I wasn't glowing with enjoyment from the game I witnessed. I was mad and thoroughly fed up. That's probably the problem under GB. We are not permanently mediocre. We have spells in games where we can play well, outplay the opposition.and get in front. Then we seem to either go into retreat mode, or get outmanoeuvred tactically and the game swings. Unfortunately there are no signs he is learning how to address this at all.
unsall Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Ok boys, leave you to it,nothing changed on the forums, every time I come on here, same old story,if anyone (Chaddy,Parson,me etc)tries supporting the club, try to be a little optimistic, you are straight down our throats,no wonder Birdie,Pittard and the rest of the diehards don't come on here, just try supporting the club through thick and thin, whatever we think of the Venkys,at least they have kept season tickets as cheap as chips, have you seen Dingles prices, just heard Hull tickets cheapest £531,and just remember when you were all creaming in 1994/95 saying Rovers forever,Rovers ttill I die,did you really mean it,that same season Bournemouth just saved themselves from relegation from div 2 on last day, wonder what their supporters were saying then, and what they are saying now, life and football goes in circles, roll on the new season, onwards and upwards,COYB.....
ABBEY Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Must be great having special fan status . Snobbiily looking down your nose at the fans who see the club dying.

More worried about number 1 fan status more like, someone stealing a bit of their lime light. I could go on but I'll leave it at that, it's not fcuking worth getting wound up about.

Very very well said Gav. Those particular 'diehards' you allude to should be ashamed of themselves as they've as much blood on their hands as the perpetrators.
