And yet Kean was able to talk up top-half finishes and CL football, and ultimately had to resign before we could be shot of him.

They were 'under the influence' during the Kean reign though....does depend on who they are listening too now.

Still think Judge has something to offer.

Me too. Unfortunately opinion on here appears to be worsening re: Judge......... despite him not being selected!!! How tf does that work?

Unfortunately reading opinion on here he could easily become the new Ped for the more ovine intellects amongst our number?

Kean was feathering his own nest for yonks. He just waited, took advice and manipulated a situation where it could be maximised. Fortunately for him and unfortunately for us, there were a number of numbskulls that were too happy to unwittingly oblige.

Seeing that GB has brought in mainly young players, mostly free transfers, you would think that he has explained to the Rao's that he was building

a team for the future, now if they were happy with that, they will not necessarily be expecting promotion this season.

If this is the case, and If so I find it rather strange, they must be happy to carry on funding the club for at least another season or however long it takes

within reason of course.

I would have thought they would be in much more of a hurry personally, but who knows, I've given up trying to second guess our owners.

Ah yes true, but maybe others were still involved behind the scenes then, who knows ?

BTW I wonder the reaction would be if Gary B came out at tomorrow's presser and said, we've got the best squad

in this league and we will definitely be promoted.

Maybe he would keep his job longer that way, crazy club !

Never underestimate what people will do for their 'baby'. Like most neglectful parents, the obvious way to ease the guilt is to lavish money upon the child.

Absolutely and no one can fault the Raos for that.

Bizarrely nobody can fathom the timing of their decisions. None make any sense whatsoever.

From the sackings or not, to the financial support, what is the savvi?

From where we are currently sat, I personally don't think it would take too much more to make us a force to be reckoned with in this league.

Do you think many of us would be bothered if it happened?

I would and I think most rational thinking Rovers fans would too. There are clearly one or two exceptions.

I like stability, the club needs and craves stability. We've got it for now, might not be the be all and end all but Bowyer has created what we needed.

I detest the detractors of any description that fail to come up with a viable alternative to what is now.

GB may not be the answer to our prayers but IMO he's our best current shot, give him a proper chance.

But hey, if I and most others have missed a trick, who should we appoint as manager, how do we go about attracting him or her (PC there) assuming they are available and what should our budget be in doing so?

...............?

13 players that likely have the combined transfer fee and salary of just 1 or 2 of Keans signings last summer.

I doubt thats true.

However, personally I feel we didn't need 13 new players, we would have been far better buying 3 or 4 quality players in. At this stage now we could have then used the loan window to pick up if we needed more.

(Been saying this all summer before someone uses the "we are where we are" line.)

Of the 13 brought in how many have actually improved our 1st team? Cairney & possibly Evans for me. The verdict is out on the others as far as Im concerned. CKR went to another Turkish club for £300k, that would have been better than Judge & Taylor IMO, and I doubt he's on double their wages either.

I agree Baz but I also think we probably needed more than 13 signings if you assumed we were going to move on Kean and Shebby's dross from last summer. Fact is we haven't and even some that we have are still a massive financial burden on the club. It's hard to believe that we're still Commited to pay that Scouser apology for a right back half a million a year whilst he's warming Donkey Lasher's bench!

We lack 2 quality signings IMO and that would make all of a difference, whether our owners will fund it or not, who knows?!

You do realise how silly that sounds, don't you? It's a bit like saying I shouldn't say my manager is crap (which he is) just because I don't know every other manager within the companies 25,000 employess, so therefore cannot name an alternative

So nobody can ever make critical comments about anything in life if they can't produce an alternative example?

Nobody is saying to get rid of Bowyer. If being mid table is the clubs goal, which from it's actions this summer it is, then he's the man. I'm sure Dunny would say 'get real' in regards to any promotion chances ;)

"However" if we were all privvy to the inside track in football and knew exactly who is available, who could be available and who would be interested then I'm sure we could all come up with an alternative (And each one of us could rip each selection apart). its the very 'process' normal clubs (not Rovers) go through to find new managers and the process the club chose to ignore 4 times. We aren't privvy but it should not stop discussion, opinion and critique. Otherwise what's the point of places like this?

I'm afraid you lost me at the bold part of your post. Since the thread is titled "Bowyer. Is it time?" I would suggest that at least "somebody" is saying get rid of him.

My point of view isnt worth wasting on a thread like this.

If you are narrowminded, short sighted, ignorant and with a lousy memory - Then I understand you reasons for wanting to change manager again.

What are you on about??

The topic is titled "Bowyer"

The OP put a "is it time" tag. He is a lone voice in that respect and that part of the discussion has been dismissed. There is no anti-camp just those that think Bowyer is good enough and those that have their doubts. All opinion is fluid.

So come down off that high horse, join the commoners and give your opinion on an opinion led "discussion" board ;)

Hmm not sure about us needing and craving stability. We were bottom half of the Championship last season without stability, we're bottom half of it this season with stability. What we need is to get promoted, so we can stop losing lots of money and keep our few remaining decent players.

My viable alternative that I mentioned on here a couple of months ago is Gary Megson. Jobless for 17 months, used to a Championship wage, done well at 6 of the 9 clubs he's managed, promoted West Brom twice from this division, and a 45% win ratio at his last club Sheff Wednesday when they inexplicably sacked him.

I'd give Bowyer more time, but not much more. I no longer subscribe to the view that we have to stick with him to prevent a candidate picked by the 2 plonkers, simply because I'm losing faith that Bowyer will ever get us promoted and if he can't do that then I don't see what we've got to lose. Finishing mid-table in the Championship doesn't give us anything better than finishing in the bottom half, apart from maybe a few weeks of Rhodes' wages in prize money.

Gary Megson for Christ's sake give over, he is without doubt probably the worst apart from Kean selection you could have made, he makes Big Sam look like, well Pep Guardiola.

Based on what? One job at Bolton? I've just listed his statistics and achievements, which make him look like a complete master in comparison to Bowyer. Presumably you think thats less important than him being an unfashionable, fairly ugly little bloke with ginger hair who the media have never taken to.

"Has this candidate promoted someone from the Championship before" should have been the first and by far the most important question in our managerial hunt right from day 1. Its the reason I wanted Billy Davies after Kean whilst on here we were getting the usual bonkers pie in the sky suggestions like Rafa Benitez and Mark Hughes.

Whats happened at this club since Hughes left should have us crying out for someone like Megson. Berg, Appleton, Kean, Bowyer, Ince - irresponsible gambles on novices at the relevant level. Megson and Allardyce -,seasoned veterans who've been there and done it at the relevant level. I don't know how many years of the point being hammered home again and again it'll take before it gets through to people which is the best strategy for picking a manager.

Despite the rumours of the past i don't think they have ever come close to or seriously considered appointing a genuine and experienced manager. I don't care who they are supposed to have interviewed or had lunch with or who's agents they have contacted, it's all hot air and smokescreens. That in mind there is no reason whatsoever to think they'd do any different than another cheap option if GB was removed therefore for me he must stay for now for the sake of stability if nowt else. If we go on a really bad run then fair enough. He needs to rethink his tactics away from home though, starting tomorrow - big test.
