Proudtobeblue&white Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 its aLl gettin a bit cilly in my vue
Proudtobeblue&white Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Very good signing in Cairney, interesting one in Gestede, well done GB. Deadwood out......if the Loons get their cheque books out again and pay off, as no other way to do it, we will have a young, exciting, hungry squad. Makes his trip to Loonland newsworthy?
Steve Moss Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 The Americans seem to get away with it We beat you in a war, captured the language and can now do what we like with it. Nice job by Bowyer. Giving our club a good name with the media again. Very approachable, logical and clear about his focus on Youth. He was proud to have a 16 year old on the bench against Leeds. Nice to have signed Gestede and Carney as well. Gary Bowyer comes across as a very sensible manager. If the owners back him, we'll be fine.
Stevo Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Gary Bowyer has reinstalled a lot of pride in being a Rover that had been so sadly eroded over the past 3 years. I personally am looking forward again, rather than looking back to the 'good old days'. He deserves a hell of a lot of credit for shifting the momentum of this club that had built and built.
Backroom Tom Posted January 3, 2014 Backroom Posted January 3, 2014 Two very astute signings today in my view Also to spot Cairney was fantastic work 90% of us had never heard of him and were disappointed to miss out on Bannan and Spearing
Neal Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 With these signings we have undoubtedly one of the best squads in the league. Problem is, given our current position, we're UNDERACHIEVING. Yes, Bowyer hasn't made big money signings but there's a lot of money invested in this squad and it needs to start producing results against the likes of Charlton and Wednesday. Bowyer claims we need consistency but changing the formation 3 games on the bounce isn't going to help that. Don't get me wrong, I admire his willingness to make changes things but not after 7 points in 3 games. Being honest after the Wednesday & Brum games I'd had enough & would quite happily seen someone like Steve Clarke step in... Then after the Leeds peformance occurs and it just sums us up this season. Results and performances aside,I'm very happy in the way he's managed to restore some sort of normality to Blackburn Rovers and I think that's something that we should all be grateful to him for. I'm content for Bowyer to carry on his work, decent fella & he's done a decent job this season but compared to the expenditure of the rest the clubs in this league... It's time to kick on and deliver results.
USABlue Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 The Americans seem to get away with itAnd us from Accy and surrounding areas?
thenodrog Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 We beat you in a war, captured the language and can now do what we like with it.Indeed so. The spoils of war. So how come you aren't speaking Sioux (or in your caes Apache)then Steve? You've robbed them of everything else too.
Howler Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Its easy to forget how much of a shambles we were each time before Bowyer took over last season and we should be thankful he kept us up. He has done a great job of settling the squad and club down, investing in a number of promising young players and trying to clear out some of the dead wood. The team spirit appears to be excellent and augurs well for the second half of the season. Most importantly its a team where most of us can get behind them and have some pride in. I still have some reservations over his tactics and maybe an over cautious attitude at home. Financially, this could be a make or break season (not Bowyers fault of course), there are no special teams in this division and we should be going for it more.

I honestly think a lot of fans (your welcome to your opinion) need to grasp that this recovery might take a bit longer than 12 months. Changing manager is a risk at the best of times- using precedent gives another level of scope - we surely can't trust the Rao's and Shelfy to make a good decision. I have been reading this particular topic a lot because I think that only a few have the foresight to see we have stumbled onto a gem in GB, and the mental toil of the past 24 months (pre summer) could have carried on. 1. One decent performance which unfortunately led to a freak defeat, and a boxing day damp squib - against a team with a "new manager bounce" and a well organised setup. Please be aware and realise there is no easy game in this league, form can turn on a sixpence - look at Boro. 2. Other than individual errors from Hanley, Lowe, Dann, Kane, Kean, Eastwood, Spurr etc - We have performed a lot better since the end of april/may. We have had some bad games - but we have also played wonderful in some. The club is improving in my eyes, behind the scenes and most importantly on the pitch! The image will take a long time to come back in full, but Cairney showed yesterday that as BRFC we still have a big reputation. All football fans (not just BRFC) know what we achieved a short time ago, and what world football legends played for us.(aforementioned - Tugay) With this pull, and a well staffed and productive youth academy - we could find our way back succesfully with time and thought. Thank god the signing of 35k a week 30+ dikeads has stopped, and the mass employment of Carlos Kickaballs and spunking of money worldwide.
broadsword Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 The state of this guy, he looks like he's just come in from the pub. John Williams he ain't. (I know this is the Bowyer thread, but we have been talking about the Cairney signing.)

Talking of invasions have you lot learned how to invade the correct airport yet?

Talking of invasions have you lot learned how to invade the correct airport yet? The war that the yanks had to use the Frogs to save their collective arses. Too bad this beautiful land would have looked good with Union Jacks flying over it.

Thank god the signing of 35k a week 30+ dikeads has stopped, and the mass employment of Carlos Kickaballs and spunking of money worldwide. I agree with most of what you say & I'm quite aware of the difficulty of this league, my point was that to get out of it... you have to win games. Adding to that I feel our squad is more than capable of doing so, it just needs the managerial encouragement to do so. I agree that Bowyer may well have the capabilities to be a good manager for us, I have been one of his biggest backers actually but those 2 home performances seriously dented my confidence in him. Like I said, I'm more than willing to let him carry on his work, he's a good bloke & as he's done a decent job but there is no time better than now to start taking the fight to this league, Cairney signed, physical centre forward signed, Rhodes scoring goals. All I want to see is Bowyer have a good go at winning every game, EVERYONE is beatable & we have one of the best squads in the league.

Backroom Tom Posted January 4, 2014 Backroom Posted January 4, 2014 Really is a great article His tactics have been questionable at times but his attitude and philosophies seem to be spot on - then again there was a very similar article about Michael Appleton
bigbrandjohn Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Great Telegraph article. Bowyer has done a credible job of getting the media back on our side. It would be an extraordinary turn around if our youngsters could give City a game of Football
Stuart Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 here is Henry Winter article on Gary Bowyer he done for tomorrow Daily Telegraph http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/blackburn-rovers/10550196/Blackburn-Rovers-manager-Gary-Bowyer-restores-clubs-historic-roots-ahead-of-FA-Cup-tie-with-Manchester-City.html great article by Henry Winter who is regarded as the best Sport writer in the written sport press by you. Those who voted for David Conn may disagree.Seriously though, Chaddy, whatever happened to your early exclusives? If anyone beat you to posting a link, it used to be by nanoseconds, now it's hours. Sad times. As posted earlier, it's an excellent article - although some of the Cloughie insights are pretty well documented. I like Bowyer, I just hope he continues to select teams to be positive - especially at home. Although he gets a bye for this afternoon's match.
Mike Graham Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Bowyer say in today's Daily Telegraph: "the owners are very supportive". "Mrs Desai is a lovely lady". Sounds more and more like that twerp Kean every day, he clearly knows what side of the bread is buttered! "Great article" my ar$e.
Ricky Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Thing is Preston Blue, despite all of our completely justified hatred of venky's they do seem to be letting Bowyer get on with things with absolutely no interference. They also seem to have let him bring in his own players. So I suppose I can see why he's ok with the owners.
Beta Ray Bill Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 From the article.... " They always talked about how you conduct yourself on and off the pitch. Manners. Politeness. Time-keeping. Being responsible. Making decisions for yourself. Representing the club and representing your family well at all times. These are important principles. " Wonder if our 'best' player reads the Telegraph?
