Leonard Venkhater Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 It isn't just those two games - over the whole season we have been improving. Barring some ridiculous defending - the Birmingham game we were excellent. The Sheffield match was a disappointment - but we had enough chances to win the match. We need a bit of luck with injuries, run of the ball - and referees - and we could easily make the play-offs. If the performances continue to improve and we can add some consistency - who knows. That is a key issue, all right .No manager can legislate for ridiculous, individual howlers e.g Forest, Ipswich, Brum The resulting cheap goals given away have cost us in far too many games. If we could have avoided just 30% of them, we would be well established in the play off places already. Cue.. aunty, balls, uncle comments! These individual mistakes have obscured the progress Bowyer has already made in very difficult circumstances.

Guest Norbert Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I'd rather have Bowyer than Moyes. Both have been given a bad hand when they took over, but Bowyer has quietly got the team on it's feet whilst David never addressed the problems in his squad and keeps making errors.

I wish someone would give me a bad hand called Manchester United
Guest Norbert Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Aging and faltering squad (by their standards), the legendary manager sitting there in the stands all the time, teams helping themselves to wins at Old Trafford. Man Utd are in decline under Moyes and the Glazers. The latter of whom are funneling money out of the club to prop up their other businesses and pay the debts.

José Mourinho would have had them top of the league
Guest Norbert Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 He would have signed better players, and not relied on putting Jones in midfield. Ferguson retired at the right time as the squad is average without Rooney and Van Persie, and needed quite a few new players. Moyes did eff all, and then bought Fellaini out of panic. And his tactics are crap too.
Guest Norbert Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 To sum up, Moyes did not rebuild/add to the [title winning] team when it needed it, bought badly, and has applied bad tactics. Bowyer has managed to get a team that was nosediving towards relegation challenging for the play offs in a very difficult league, rebuilt the team and has done reasonably well.

Guest Norbert Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I meant difficult as in it is a nightmare to get out of, anyone can beat anyone but thanks for the edit. I guess I am a bit verbose since my mum was an English teacher.
thenodrog Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 ps who care about manuIt appears that we all care that they suffer a major fall from grace.

Guest Norbert Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 does she read this board No, but believe me when she gets going it is like that Monty Python sketch when Eric Idle is booking a holiday. Anyway, I was watching BT sport at my sister's house and Colin the ex-Leeds manager was in the studio. I would not swap him for Bowyer at the beginning of the season either.
SoldierMo Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Moyes deserves it...he should bring in Keane of brunei to assist him after all he did feel disgusted at the way we treated the scumbag
Steve Kean's Hypnotoad Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Moyes deserves it...he should bring in Keane of brunei to assist him after all he did feel disgusted at the way we treated the scumbag Couldn't agree more. He's a prat and I've been massively enjoying his bumbling at ManUre.
Mani Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 IMO GB is doing a very good job in what was a difficult situation. For the first time ever last season I stopped going to the games. I was sick to the back teeth of players with big egos who didn't care about the club. Murphy et al losing the ball and watching on as their player ran through on goal. As a working northern bloke I couldn't relate to these lazy fat cats....I could accept us not being good enough but I could not accept them not caring like I did. GB's greatest achievement is how he's managed to get the team grafting and playing for each other. They look organised and they CARE! That is the overwhelming new ethos. Not of caution - GB also has one of the best budgets in the league in terms of wages etc, a state of the art training facility and a squad which is the envy of most of the league! Our "nosedrive" towards relegation last season was a team under-performing. GB is not working miracles, just simply doing his job very well.

Our "nosedrive" towards relegation last season was a team under-performing. GB is not working miracles, just simply doing his job very well. Dunno about that. Sure we have a massive squad but the players performing the best are the ones that he has brought in .... and for relatively little money too.
Majiball Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 José Mourinho would have had them top of the league Indeed he would have but thank god SAF gave football fans one last present! Keep up the good work Moyes!
thenodrog Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Indeed he would have but thank god SAF gave football fans one last present!I tend to disagree. It would have meant a massive change in squad mentality and personnel for the MU squad to adapt to Mourhino's negative style.
Mani Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Dunno about that. Sure we have a massive squad but the players performing the best are the ones that he has brought in .... and for relatively little money too. Rovers best players so far this season are Dann, Hanley, Spurr, Cairney, Lowe, King (early on) and Rhodes...this proves that GB inherited a very strong squad! Like I say I'm not down on GB he has done a great job but there are lots of positives for him at that club and whether you like it or not Venkys have supported him.

Along with Cairney, Evans, Marshall and Taylor and he's just brought in Gestede. All those players gave top performances on Saturday.
