Really looking forward to Tuesday now it's not often we have options like we seem to at the moment

4-4-2 looks like a shoe in after the strikers both scoring and I imagine Lowe, Evans and King will all start leaving right wing, Marshall and Taylor haven't shone when starting but Cairney would be out of position so its a tough one. Personally I'd like Evans and Cairney as a midfield two myself but can't see Lowe being dropped.

Its nice to see Best quick to congratulate Rhodes, often he's seemed the type to sulk when someone else has scored

I also think 5 points as things stand ain't a bad return from Burnley, Leicester, Bournemouth away and Huddersfield at home.

I'm looking forward to the next couple of games, 3 wins on the spin would put a different perspective on matters. Certainly keep the clown at bay!

How did Cairney do at right wing? Doesn't sound like the ideal position for him, but maybe we just can't afford playing him in central midfield with his suspect attitude towards tackling.

I thought he played well. Like a beckham-type right midfielder he didn't dribble round players or do too much tackling, but he has good quality and intelligence on the ball and has a good range of passing.

King down the left stayed wide to attack their fullback with his pace, cairney often cut inside so he could play a pass on his left foot.

Not many bournemouth players would have got into our side. Watford will be a tougher test.

Judging by the general opinion of some on here re our squad, Bournemouth must be poor!

very good win today by Rovers. we were the ONLY away team in the league to win today.

thought Bowyer got his tactics and formation spot on. according to Radio sounds like Evans and Lowe were very good today in centre midfield.

Best and Rhodes sounded like a good partnership and plenty to work on and get it better. I'm not the biggest fan of Best but if he keeps doing what he did today then my view will change.

Judge and Marshall wasn't involved today due to family reasons

Paul Wheelock @PaulWheelock now

Alan Judge and Ben Marshall not involved today for 'family reasons', said Gary Bowyer. Back for Watford Tuesday.

I hope Sparky Marky apologise for his very sad and pathetic comments about them now. they was no need to said them.

Also Sparky Marky, looks like your prediction was totally wrong and looks like Bowyer will be staying as manager. :D bet you are very disappoint by it. what a bloody shame :D

I think you may have missed one as we weren't the only team to win in this division. Try Sheffield Wednesday 0 Doncaster 1.Only their second win of the season and they have pushed Wednesday into the relegation places.

Not just them two, there was plenty on here claiming we had missed a gem. Funny don't hear them much now

Good point, and a reminder to all to only that the red tops are only any good for wrapping fish and chips in.

I'm really pleased with the reports about Evans. I think he could be a very very important player for us this season.

Really good win today and it was just the tonic ahead of a match against a good Watford side.

Our lot can surprise a few this season. I just hope Venkys let it take its course.

I missed the Huddersfield game but I really rated Evans effort and application after he came on as sub against Bolton.

Twelve points from nine games seems familiar.

Can GB and his team make it fifteen from ten come this tuesday evening

One would assume that Watford will not give King the room that the cherries afforded him.

King's talent is his blistering pace yet Bowyer is the first manager to utilise it by instructing players to play balls in front of him rather than to his feet so that he can beat the first defender with his pace. Why it's taken so long is difficult to fathom, it's hardly rocket science is it?

Why the hell are people picking holes in the performance by looking for culprits in the goal we conceeded?

I'm sure Bowyer and the rest of the management team will be concentrating more on the goal we let in against 10 men than the three goals we scored Gav. It's basic professionalism.

FFS enjoy the win, switch of the PC and have a face to face conversation with someone, it'll do you the world of good!

All credit to the fans that made the trip, I hear the turnout was impressive, you deserved the win and I hope you all enjoyed it :tu:

How many did we take?

I remember the last trip to Bournemouth. 3 sheets to the wind on a Friday night in the Jubilee. A shout went out that there was a seat left on the coach to Bournemouth and I took up the offer. Still in shirt and tie ready for the Cav! So a northern horde of uncouth garb and strange oaths arrived in Bournemouth at 7 O'clock on a Sat morning with no where to drink.

The funny thing is a few of us went to get our hair cut to pass the time and it turned out that the barber was from Blackburn and he broke out some cans and we had a good bevvie and a natter LOL.

I loved those kind of away days.

Great win today, vital we follow it up with 3 points on Tuesday.

This League can turn on it's head in a week if you can string three wins together back to back.

8 in 9 for Rhodes. Wish he'd stop scoring then we could bring someone in to hold up the ball. Lol.

If we are to achieve anything this season there will be games when he will need to do just that for the team effort. We wont play 4-4-2 and score 3 first half goals every time we turn out will we Simon? There will be plenty of occasions when we will be under the cosh. Rhodes is what we used to call a tart liner..... he's a good one thats for sure but that is what he is and the kicker is that is why we have him.

Q. Tell me if we are 1-0 up and under severe pressure with 30 mins to go and can't get out of our own half, would you take him off and replace him with Best or similar?

I'm with you there Gav then again I had a nice night with the wife and son now led on my setee with a can of Budweiser watching the highlights - its not all bad :P

What are you drinking?

Even when Dunny and Rochina are available? Nice problem for Bowyer to have mind.

? I'm disagree darren. (5/4)*46 = 57 OR less points than we ended last season with! Hardly play off form is it?

a bit harsh seeing as most of the team are still relatively young and it will take time for the team to gel. i think our form will improve as the season goes on and come season end Bowyers appointment will be a proven one.

Points make prizes jonv. We'd have been three places higher in the table if we could have saved Rhodes' stroke of luck against Burnley for the Huddersfield game ..... but I doubt I'd find anyone to agree with that. :rover:

I said at the start of the month that 5 points and avoiding defeat at Burnley was the minimum requirement and we have hit that just. 7 points from October now the min target.

Great much needed result.

Well for me biggest positive long term is Bowyer seems to learn. Wasn't quite working with Cairney playing advanced cm attacking role. So changes things with Best up top. It worked very well. Signs of a good manager. The thing is in my view we didn't see that trait in our previous three managers. Just as you hope to see signs of a team developing and learning you also hope to see that in a inexperienced manager.

Best - did well, if he can play that role as effectively in the games to come we don't need to loan a target man. Looks like I'm going to possibly have to eat humble pie in previously saying on paper we look like having three strikers who wont be effective together for the team.

Rhodes - scored as always, its so good to actually see someone score penalties so confidently as well.

Evans - great game. Seems to be improving with each game as fitness and sharpness returns to his game. Now looking a very good signing.

Lowe - again solid alongside Evans. Good news that they seem capable of forming a good partnership. Dare I say it but passing seems to be improving a little.

King - again when wide excellent game seems to be improving as well.

Cairney - surprisingly very good in a different position. Could be comparable to how Bentley played for us in terms of style of play. Not going to skin a player but very capable of delivering a good pass or ball in.

All the back 4 looked solid as well.

No need to get too carried away, but at least we see very good glimpses of a good balanced team developing. The two key things are all the players worked hard for Bowyer but importantly we see good quality from them at times as well. Which is what you want to see from younger players to give hope they can improve with time and games.

Those three places are pretty meaningless though when it's September and only one point in it.

The second line means, the sad keans that want to analyse the goal we conceeded should get a keaning life, social interaction is a wonderful thing, life does exist outside the bedroom/PC :tu:

The again its Saturday night and I'm on here :lol:

Spoken like a true old man, hah!

1 point is worth exactly the same in September as it is in May. Maybe you should ask a Bolton fan how much one point was worth oveer a season Stuart.

If you miss out by one point you may as well miss out by 10.

The point is, saying that we would be tangibly better off on 28th September in 8th with 13 points, than 11th with 12, is a pretty pointless debate.
