I received the same offer and I'm not a season ticket holder. Perhaps they sent it to everyone who has attended a match in the past and for whom they have an email address?

Not this year. My wife has a thing about paying the bills. Completely irrational, if you ask me.

But the club has my email from 2010 when I bought tickets over the phone, and my periodic purchases online at OneRovers. As I got the same email you did (I also have an October birthday), I suspect they sent the email offer to everyone in their system.

Ordered my free ticket today. It is a good incentive for fans on the database. Has the email just been sent to current and past season ticket holders? If so, it could add good numbers to the crowd on match days.
