We're a club that's been through terrible self-inflicted trauma, de-nuded of its best players who've been replaced by young players looking for a second- or third-chance, free transfers complemented with existing staff nobody else wants.

Our inconsistency doesn't surprise me. Mid-table beckons, I'd wager. It does feel very sad, as if an era of 2nd-/3rd tier mediocrity is being ushered in. As well as, of course, finances that are as watertight as the Titanic.

The previous wins were very welcome, but I'd be astonished if we could sustain a run like that for long enough to get a play-off berth.

Depressing days.

Disappointing result and performance. There is no such thing as a home banker in the championship and everyone can beat everyone else so I don't buy that this should have been an easy win.

Charlton got an early goal, sat back, defended well and we didn't have enough quality to break them down.

Bad day at the office. 7/8 points of the play off teams. Not brilliant but not bad either. I'd take that at this stage, particularly after last season.

Worst home display under Bowyer imo, very strange, we seemed completely flat today unlike in recent home displays and before Hanley got sent off v Wigan.

Best is really starting to annoy me - he complains about being left out of the side then when he does come into the side he puts no effort in whatsoever, he has no movement in him and is completely static when he doesn't have the ball. I also thought Marshall and Kilgannon had very poor games and only Dann played well throughout imo.

Cairney was excellent first half but faded out of it second and KIng showed some decent flashes in the second without ever really rediscovering his recent red hot form.

Abysmal

The line up was correct IMO but that's about it

Kean made no major mistakes but still managed to come for two deep balls he had no reason to and nearly lost it each time

Kane was just rubbish and Spurr not much cop today

Apart from being slack on one costly occasion the back 2 had nothing much to do

The wingers were crap first half but King was much better in the second

The central midfielders were both decent at least

In the first half I thought Rhodes and Best were fouled a lot but given nothing by the ref but make no mistake both of them were shocking, I lost count of the times Rhodes tried to lay it off to someone but put it 10 yards behind them and Best was equally wasteful with both of them missing our best 'chances'

The ref was a shocker but nothing to change the outcome of the game

I can't for the life of me work out why we are reluctant to pump a free kick into the box rather than going sideways then backwards

All in all that was close to as bad as anything under Kean or Appleton

For me it was a similar performance to the Huddersfield match as the build up play was far too slow. When we have played well this season we have done so by playing a high tempo game. We played straight into their hands today and allowed them to get players behind the ball. The fitness guys really need to build up Josh Kings fitness. Today was the third time in the last four games he has gone off with cramp.

Lots to work on for the management this week on the training ground.
