Jack Wilshere while is some what correct the one who agree with him are slightly fickle in the sense that Zaha is from the Ivory Coast, born to Ivorian Parents so in others is a version of Adnan, we also had John Barnes from Jamaica to Jamaican Parents, so Adnan representing England would make no difference to what we have done in the past. So Wilshere comments are redundant.

Actually I did see the article that nationality should be applied to all aspects, management, staff and backroom too. I could go along with that too.

Foreign managers seem to have always been in the mix, though there may have been a lot fewer.

1930, Chile had a Hungarian, Peru a Spaniard.

1966, Switzerland, Italian manager. Bulgaria a Czech, Portugal a Brazilian and by the way, the great Eusebio hailed from Mozambique I believe, one of the all time World Cup greats.

Jumping forward to 1982, World Cup in Spain, Cameroon, French manager, Spain itself, a Uruguayan/Spanish dual citizen, Peru and Kuwait, Brazilians. So we get the picture.

Insisting managers come from the native countries could set some countries back but at the same time, does have a sporting aspect to it.

My personal view is that Southgate is being groomed to take over as England manager.

I hope I'm wrong but he has put in place his vision for grassroots football (a nice theoretical but ultimately unworkable idea) and has now been made U21 manager. With the talk of bringing through a team together for the 2020 Euros and 2022 World Cup, I can see it being Southgate's team.

Like I said, I hope I'm wrong.

Are you Scottish Salgado? :D

And I think you are right about Southgate. Despite being pretty sh_t as a manager at Boro, and because he is another spineless, polite, bland, nobody who happens to be good friends with Trevor Brooking, he will eventually get the job. Pearce was seen as that man briefly, but now it is a man made for ITV's great football coverage.

I wouldn't let age bother me in this case, Aragones, Spanish manager for the 2008 Euro was no spring chicken, neither has been Lippi, Scolari or Del Bosque, Aragones's fill in. Germany's Lowe has been youthful but probably similar in age to Klinsmann. Trap did okay with Ireland. Not sure if it was his fault at that.

I know, but Harry does not look too healthy if I m honest. Still, that said, I'd rather a 70 year old Redknapp than Southgate. At least he'd not be able to bankrupt England like he has with a few clubs.
