[Archived] Post when a word or phrase becomes in vogue on this board

Recommended Posts

Every so often somebody uses a term which you then don't see the back of for at least a month. Like the first time we played Burnley with the dreaded travel arrangements and all you could hear about was Draconian measures. A valid point perhaps, but it was the only term people seemed to be capable of using. This week it's all been about losing money 'hand over fist'. Another genuine point perhaps, but it's just so annoying to keep reading the same thing over and over again and I can't help but feel that the posters who are using the oft repeated terms are the ones who have less to actually contribute to the discussion.

Post when such a phrase gets used far too much and it starts to grate on you.

It's the equivalent of slapping someone in the face with a glove and demanding satisfaction.

Unfortunately it doesn't have the same class and romance as the phrase , "you sir are a cad, I challenge you to pistols at dawn"

Personally think the world would be a better place if Duels still existed, obviously with both participants dressed like fops. Sure Sky or setanta would pick it up

Calling people out in a thread like seems a bit draconian, have to be careful such criticisms don't lead to the board losing members hand over fist.

What's your agenda?

Venkylove is one I hate. The image alone....ugh *shudder*

Better than Venkyscum as I'm never sure if the break in the word is meant to come after the y or after the s :s

Venkyscum is a great term space or not but really comes into it's own in capitals, Chicken Dippers is a good one to

Do miss the terms tremblers and happyclappers would have made two great foes for Doctor Who

Think after the performance on Monday and the adulation that followed Shelfies or Shelvites might be making an appearance

I intend to establish a shadowy organisation known as the "Kingdom of Souls" whose primary goal will be to conceal themselves close to meetings, gatherings and arguments of the various Rovers organisations such as BRAG, the Rovers Trust, the club, BRFCS, the Fans Forum and Shebby Singh. Upon achieving such concealment, we will strike by means of the pea shooter at the top brass in each organisation, subtly timing our attacks to make it look like someone from another organisation did it. After waging this war of confusion and chaos until no man is left standing, we will suddenly emerge into the public eye and take over the club..

You were posting heavily in the Wigan match thread despite previously crying about match threads being filled with posts from people not at the games.

We have a fanbase that isn't concentrated in East Lancashire, deal with it. As opposed to harping on about it everyday.

Some of the more knowledgeable posters don't go to games, or don't go that often. Their opinions far outweigh those of JAL and Mr E, to name but a few.
