Stuart Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Read this Ewood Spark? Just in case you missed the message: someone wants to buy us! Let's just hope it's not someone like those nefarious types who wanted to buy Pompey...

thenodrog Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Been busy today so just got round to checking the MB! I talked to a very good Venky's source early this morning. Source said that there had been a couple of approaches over the last couple of months and they had been totally ignored by the owners like the other approaches. Source did not know how serious these approaches were. Sources also admitted that FFP was a big concern for the owners and they are getting specialist advice on this. But the biggest thing that I took away from the chat this morning was that for the first time ever my source suggested that owners could have a serious rethink RE selling the club at the end of the season. Given their track record I'm dreading to think where they got that from. However lest we forget it's the World Cup next summer so it might be their intention to flog us around Brazil whilst interest in all things football is at a peak and a few other clubs might have been sold to effectively 'set the price'.
47er Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Let's just hope it's not someone like those nefarious types who wanted to buy Pompey... So stick with risk-free Venkys then?
thenodrog Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 "Sports and health goes hand in hand and Venky’s has taken one step further by owning one of the most popular English Premiere League Club – Blackburn Rovers. By fructifying this deal Venky’s has become the first Indian Company to achieve this fete. This club has a proud history as that of its owners and has won English Premiere League for three times and FA Cup six times in total. As a part of its future strategy, the VH Group is determined to establish Blackburn Rovers as a truly global brand and take all efforts to ensure retaining and further upgrading its status of being one of the best run clubs within the premier League." http://www.venkys.com/group-profile/london-venkys/ So there you have it, Venky's have fructified us. New one on me. 'Fructifying' It's not a verb in my dictionary so I can only assume it's an anagram.
only2garners Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 You need a better dictionary drog....... fructify Pronunciation: /ˈfrʌktɪfʌɪ/ verb (fructifies, fructifying, fructified) [with object] formal make (something) fruitful or productive: The problem has not been that no one wants to buy us - there appear to have been plenty of approaches. It's that a) the owners have not to date wanted to sell and what sort of people want to buy us and why.
AndyNeil Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Let's just hope it's not someone like those nefarious types who wanted to buy Pompey... This has always been my biggest worry - the FA seemed to turn a blind eye to what was happening at Portsmouth and am sure wouldn't treat Rovers any differently.
Stuart Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 So stick with risk-free Venkys then?Of course. That's exactly what I meant.:@#/? rolleyes: You need a better dictionary drog....... fructify Pronunciation: /ˈfrʌktɪfʌɪ/ verb (fructifies, fructifying, fructified) [with object] formal make (something) fruitful or productive: The problem has not been that no one wants to buy us - there appear to have been plenty of approaches. McClarky Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I think we're fructified if we stay with Venkys and fructified if we don't.
Blue blood Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Has your source ever shone any light on what is in it for the Venky's? ....beyond the desire to avoid of reputation damage from being seen by the world to have totally screwed up and run.. This is the key question for me, and as far as my understanding goes the answer is nothing. There's nothing in it for Venkeys. In fact selling seems the only thing that makes sense. Which makes their refusal to do so even more mystifying/suspicious...
broadsword Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Oh but we want the fans to love us, oh yes please. So confusing, sir.
tomphil Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I think balagi was the one who refused to agree to any consideration of a sale but hopefully hes interest is running out His line of credit may run out first !

New one on me. Well. Where shall we start? 'Fructify' is used clumsily. 'Fete' is wrong. It should be 'feat'... School kids would have been pulled for this. And this is a multi-million pound business. The lack of attention to detail on this website implies much about how the company is run on the ground. Frightening. More happily. I'm not inclined to underestimate them in every respect. This is appears to be a managed leak. Know your enemy. Now where's that Dilbert quote, again...Oh here it is.
AJW Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Kamy, The "couple of approaches" , do we know if they were from the same people ?
JAL Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Kamy, The "couple of approaches" , do we know if they were from the same people ? HMRC could be the main one allegedly !
Guest Norbert Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Sounds like when we don't go up, we'll get a hospital pass from Venky's and be sold to SEM or some fake Sheikh right when FFP comes into force, with no measures drawn up in order to comply with the new rules. May will be rubber pants time.
tomphil Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Im pretty sure they'd cash in a few players on the advice of their sycophants well before they considered selling (and not to pay the debt down).
Guest Norbert Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 True, I didn't think of that. I can only really think of Rhodes that would get a top fee.
tomphil Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 The thing also is whenever they've sold a player they've held usually held out for decent coin. Remember when they wanted 12 mill for Kalinic lol so what would the crackpots try and value our squad at IF they did think about selling ? I dread to think.
den Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 They can value it at whatever they want, but no one will give them anything for it.
Proudtobeblue&white Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 For what I believe might be my 1000th post, they can take some specialist advice from me....you're not loved, least of all wanted, please bugger off as we say in East Lancs!
RibbleValleyRover Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 It certainly wouldn't surprise me if they did decide to walk away after this season. They have spent a lot of money on the club when you factor all the transfers, wages and paying off the numerous bad appointments. But the question needs to be asked that if this is indeed their last season in charge, did they really give it one last best shot? From the managerial appointment to the players brought in, perhaps they actually gave up at the end of last season? If this is their last attempt at getting it right then it looks like it was a weak attempt really, but was that always to be expected considering who advises them and the lack of a proper management structure at the club?
Waggy76 Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 I think , they gave up a few weeks after their tenure started .. Just wish they would go now , the club is going to 'hell in a hand cart ' whilst they remain ... Blackburn Rovers only hope is for the Venkys to go and soon !
dave birch Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Perhaps, if the Venky's were thinking about reconsidering their position, someone could send them a copy of "The Karma Sutra" to help them. ps, I hope I don't need to explain.
