Couldn't agree more. Their obsession with the singles chart gets on my nerves. The only people stupid enough to fork out for singles these days are teenage girls, what on earth makes Radio 1 think any other young people want to listen to utter garbage like Lady Gaga and One Direction. They should go off the album charts, at least then there'd be a small amount of variety in their playlist. The other thing that winds me up about that station is this quasi-english black London accent that every single presenter insists on adopting. I swear the reason Moyles got canned is because he wouldn't use words like sick and safe and prounounce words with the accuracy of an 8 year old cause apparently it sounds cool.

Mind you, most of the local stations round here (the Bee, Rock FM, Real Radio etc) are no better at all in terms of music, completely identical to each other, and overun with constant, repetitive, phenomenally annoying adverts.

I don't see the problem. Radio 1 is aimed at a specific market. If you don't like it listen to Radio 2 3 or 4. Each offers something different.

Radio 2 seems to be middle-aged and above, 3 is very specialised types of music and 4 doesn't have any music. So in my opinion 1 should be a lot more diverse than it is. As I said, its playlist goes off the economical dominance of the highschool girl demographic who will make their parents shell out £3 or whatever everytime One Direction, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj etc bring something out. Does anyone honestly think men in their 20s want to listen to that ****?

Don't have much choice myself unfortunately, my office radio being dominated by a moronic group of managers with the cultural sophistication of a pile of vomit.

Controversial but I agree, she somehow made the recent crime watch appeal more about herself again and had to end it with a bit saying what happened wasn't their fault

Not keen on some of their actions either, I can't ever imagine a parent washing their child's favourite teddy after the child went missing that just seems bizarre never mind the globetrotting adventures leaving the other children at home.

As I said, Radio 1 knows it market and is aimed squarely at it. I would imagine men in the 20s would want something more sophisticated.

As a man in my early 20s, I quite like radio2. Yes it's aimed at the middle-aged but that means you get much under-rated music from the 70s and 80s. Much prefer that to 'generic pop group no# 24' on radio 1.
