[Archived] Rovers away day on the South coast - Brighton, Sat 9th November

Recommended Posts

Etuhu, Kean, Morris should be nowhere near the squad. That's what we would have said 18 months ago, however this is where we are now, it's unfortunate, well more than that, but, that's where we are.

You can throw a few more in, though you have to ask, what have the supporters of Blackburn Rovers got in return for this near £60m worth of debt.

Oh yes, you can more than chuck in a few more. It's sad, it's frustrating, it's unfair, but we are what we are now. We've had great times, more than most other clubs in the country, however it's still unacceptable what had happened. And a firm reason why I refuse to attend Ewood park.

It's a fair shout that DMTP. Especially as earlier in the thread you said that we've been the best side according to the radio.

If you can make that summation based on a commentary, it's reasonable to accept others can on what they hear about the players.

Yes - but I did say I based it on the radio commentary (indeed our own Simon Garner) - it was also remarked on by Sky (hardly one of our biggest fans). What I didn't do is lay into individual players, team tactics, Bowyer etc. etc.

A somewhat schizophrenic reading of events at HT from my mate who was present:

"Steady stream of boneheads being ejected looking slightly surprised amused and mostly proud of themselves. Winkers*. Stewards and police very sweet actually. Not like the "twit"* on the car park who provoked me beyond the point where any less reasonable person would just have nutted him. At least it warmed me up for the game."

*word slightly altered

If you are on Twitter you sometimes come across our embarrassing youths that class themselves as 'casuals' and seem to revel in acting it up

The away crowd has put me off before but I know plenty of fantastic people that follow the club away so its a shame if a small minority do far the rest of them at times

On the train home now, that was the worst performance that I have seen all season. Evans is hugely missed in midfield, he Evans wins tackles, pick ups second balls and drives the team forward like a midfield general. Instead now we have Jason Lowe as our main man in midfield whose idea of driving the team on is getting the ball take what seems an eternity deciding what to do with it and then passing either backwards or sideways. We need to get something in on loan to replace Evans. Etuhu was poor but what do you really expect when the man hasn't played a game of that intensity for nearly a year Bowyer threw him in at the deep end instead of easing him back in with 20 or 25 minutes, personally I'd have brought on Taylor or even Marshall (as Taylor doesn't seem to come on until we are losing) and have moved Cairney in side.

Kean is now getting to be a big worry, I'd give Eastwood a game otherwise I don't really see the point in having him on the wage if Bowyer doesn't have the confidence to give him a game when Kean is making atleast one mistake a match. Kane needs dropping as well his defending and positioning is terrible, but with Henley not near being fully ready we don't really have another choice.

Was Best injured ? I'd guess not otherwise Bowyer would have said about it in his press conference. So really I don't know why he wasn't even on the bench. Although Best isn't popular on here I think he's a decent player and our best performance away from home was against Bournemouth when we played 2 up front and Best scored one and made one and Rhodes scored 2. Since that after about half an hour during the following away game at Wigan went Best went of after Hanley sent off we haven't played 2 up front away and we were one up then and playing very well. We haven't wona game all season playing the one upfront away from home the one game we did for 90 minutes play two up top we won, one up away from home just gives the home team the ball and invites pressure on.

A sensible post from someone actually at the match. Interesting how plenty on here who couldn't be there called things similar. Something to do with LIVE radio and knowing a bit about our team and it's strenghts and failings.

Same here time to be dropped though Eastwood is not the answer either.

Wonder were our super duper Jason Lowe is our so called midfield general.

I don't know much of Eastwood but surely opportunities like this are made for your reserve keeper to stake a claim?

I was one of Lowe's biggest critics & given a few displays I openly gave him his due on here but slowly but surely the Jason Lowe I know only too well is back. Match winning goal aside, I thought he was garbage last week. Perhaps that's down to Bowyer playing Cairney out wide as he needs Cairney alongside him to show him in better light, win it...give it. Put Cairney out wide and the creativity falls at Lowe's feet... We all know Jason Lowe and creativity doesn't go together.

My lad went and he phoned as he came away from the ground and somerset rover has echoed his opinion virtually word for word. Awful performance from an awful team that in his opinion has not got a cat in hell's chance of promotion.

As for my opinion........ it's just another BRFC South Coast performance. I've seen em do it for 50+ years now.

Oh btw apparently it's a very nice stadium.

Bowyer might be naive but we are a club with deep financial problems and cannot afford to replace him.

I doubt our financial problems matter to the ones signing off the cheques. Sounds daft but that's what they are.

Thought we were awful today. Defensively we were absolutely dire, individual errors galore. The turning was Williamson going off and etuhu coming on; etuhu was woeful. He was completely off the pace. Bowyer got that decision badly wrong as he clearly wasn't fit/isn't very good. If he had brought Taylor on and moved Cairney inside I think we have fared much better today.

It wasn't a 3-0 game but they defended far better and have a better GK. Kean needs to be dropped, too many clangers now.

We can be good one week and poor the next. That is true of many teams in this league. 5 points off the playoffs. Outside chance I'd say.

I was at the match. Poor first half from both sides - nobody really on top, until they got a penalty.

Brighton keeper was on form today. It was a case of Brighton took the few chances they had - where Rovers didn't.

Ethutu, terrible. Rovers could possible have had a penalty. Some refs would have given it, others wouldn't.

Or perhaps and I hope after today it is the naïve Bowyer that is done with.

Rovers are enough in debt, yet you want to get rid of Bowyer. I probable had a better view than most Rovers supporters today. Apart from Ethutu (sp) the difference was Brighton took their chances and Rovers didn't.

Brighton have a shocking injury list, should have got something here IMO.

although a bad injury list. They do have some good young players who are being given their chance.

Nothing scored but since Dunn came on he had three chances assisted by Rhodes, maybe Rhodes need someone to play with for us to really hit off. I cant blame Bowyer to much without Dunn and Ruben and Leon Best being Leon Best. The scary thing though is not being able to trust the keeper, my god do i miss Friedel

Rovers had the chances. But their keeper made some good saves to be honest.
