Or another question. Have we improved at all? Bowyers results last season were against the poorer teams in the league, exactly, 13 players later, like they are this season.

Should have been in the Bowyer thread really.

You seem to be a very black and white kind of person den. Either we must be abysmal and deserving of condemnation or we must be top of the league and the fans can be in a state of high jinx. Either Jordan Rhodes is firing us to promotion or he's an abject failure and should be tossed in the gutter.

Do you not believe in shades of grey? Now I appreciate the fact this season it is probably a case of $h#t or bust and I know we look like achieving the latter. But surely to god you must have a noticed a slight improvement in some areas of the football and the club as a whole? Its not an admission of forgiveness or acceptance of mediocrity. But, and even allowing for the fact it wont halt our rapid decline, this season, this bunch of players and this manager is a step up from last seasons shambles.

You didn't understand the question Patrick. I asked whether the team performances under Bowyer this season, are better than the performances were under Bowyer last season? Results might suggest they're not?

You're right den. I did!

Well in terms of results I guess you're correct. Results are marginally better if at all. Maybe I'm more forgiving than most, but in my eyes he's doing just fine. To see improvements in our on field fortunes half way into his first full season in charge is a steep learning curve. Especially when you consider the state of the club. But we are where I expected us to be.

I'm certain Bowyer would agree with this. We're a work in progress. In my humble opinion Bowyer has gone some way to laying the foundations for success. We have ditched some bad apples and assembled a young squad who, on their day, are a match for any in this division. The key now is getting those days more often and culling the last of the leeches. I appreciate our financial predicament and need for promotion as much as the next man. But our impending failure in this regard is down to inept owners and inept decision making. Bowyers appointment being one of them. But I won't blame a young, honest manager who is interested in some big lad from Boro who's name I cant spell (just to keep it on topic).
