Stuart Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Not for much longer. FFP will cause a massive drop in the wages of all but the Premier League clubs. Precisely my original point.Clubs dropping out of (or even trying to stay in) the PL have a massive dilemma because the £ gap is now so large. Do they spend the money to buy players who might keep them up but whom we can't afford (and could cripple our club, Pompey-style) if they go down. If they don't then it's akin to giving in and just being there to make up the number, take the money and go down gracefully. By making the parachute payments instead be only drawn down on to pay playing contracts signed in the PL, it takes away the 'unaffordable contract' issue. Of course there are cons, and career Championship chairmen will cry foul on competitiveness grounds, but this seems a much better way to spend the money than the current way, in line with FFP. If the while point it to ensure clubs survive.

FGS5635 Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Not for much longer. FFP will cause a massive drop in the wages of all but the Premier League clubs. Teams/owners/accountants will find ways to pay the players. If you want to bend the rules, there will be countless ways of doing it To be honest the more they impose FFP the more I can see the goverment getting involved. Football is a huge source of tax for the goverment. The less everyone is paid, the less tax. You can see owners etc paying players in other ways into foreign bank accounts, again costing the goverment tax in some cases.
