Feel sorry for Bowyer, must be in a hard spot

Not really. Bowyers job is to do the right thing for Blackburn Rovers. If Best is needed on the park, then have a word with him and get him in the squad. If he becomes completely unmanageable, or is deemed just not good enough, then he has to go. Bowyers job here is simple really.

I keep coming back to the same thought. Why was this transfer (along with Murphy and Etuhu) ever signed off? Between the Raos, Agnew, Deggsy and even Kean, you might have expected someone to pipe up and say "is this really worth it? Why are we having to pay top dollar for sub standard premier league players when we are promotion favourites?". Lets be honest here, had they done what they were supposed to do and got us promoted, they would still be poor value. To a man none of them are good enough for premier league football and they'd still be sat on 30k + per week or more with a promotion bonus. Surely someone must've had reservations about these deals?

C'mon Patrick, it surely isn't even in doubt........ Obviously cos it damned well was worth it for some of those named and others!

i've got to say that I am seriously struggling particularly to interpret your meaning of "even Kean".

Let's face the facts, if we are sitting bottom half after Christmas Rhodes will be sold..

Who cares? Brad you are guilty of fiddling whilst Rome burns. If my info is correct they'll all be away one way or another inside the next few months.

I couldn't care less what Leon writes on Twitter, as long as he's training well and fit for selection, he's got ability and a good manager would be getting 20 goals a year out of him in this league regardless of his attitude/personality)

Has he ever scored 10 in this league? Never mind 20.

C'mon Stuart, whilst most of us share your opinions of footballers that is knee jerkstuff. We paid big money for this bloke's sig on a contract. if we tear it up then it's been completely wasted, we've lost a fortune and with no transfer fee involved and him a free agent his agent will easily find him another club with no doubt a fat severence wedge in his pocket from us and a large signing on fee from another club to boot. All the bugggers would all be at it.

The way forward for clubs like ours is to be in front of the game when we sign them.

a. Short term (possibly evergreen) contracts. Apart from Phil Jones and Chris Samba I can hardly rem when a long contract actually stood us in good stead. In fact we've been stiffed time and again by them. Long contracts only seem to work one way and imo are for losers in this game.

and

b. To include severe financial penalty clauses for specific breaches.

c. To get Karl Oyston in as consultant. ;)

We should have the option to terminate.

Do you really think we are going to make any money out of Best? On his wages, the best we can hope for is that we loan him out and pay about 70% of his wages for the privilege.

Failing that a good man manager could probably get his head right. What's Alllardyce doing these days?

given he's had a number of clubs and different managers and still hasn't performed to date in his career, I would suggest that no one other than best himself could motivate him to be better. and I reckon I know the chances of that happening.

You've got to laugh at how deluded he is thinking that something else is keeping him out the team, other than him being useless since he arrived with a terrible attitude as well.

He's a bench warmer whilst Rhodes is fit.

As has been said above, the boy is a 5-10 goal a season striker at best.

He's a poor forward, as I said when we bought him.

Unfortunately for us, the only thing he's proved good at so far at Rovers, is being a big-headed, injury prone, arrogant waste of space.

Well theno, I am not entirely sold on the conspiracy theories. I am convinced that Kean robbed us blind but more in terms if how he engineered himself into the position. I am also convinced he is a grade A Imbecile and that was what I meant. Even an imbecile such as Kean must have realised the risk we took with Best et al. Not that I would expect him to have done anything about it.

Only scored 10 goals in a league campaign once (2006-7 season on loan at Yeovil Town in League One), stats would indicate 20 goals from him would be a pipe dream.

I didn't want him at the club in the first place, said so at the time that I was concerned with his injury history and his lack of goals. Don't really care about the off the field stuff, purely looking at football ability and contribution IMO we should look to offload.

Nobody is going to pick up the ridiculous wages we have him on, therefore offload effectively means pay off his contract...

Why does ANYONE use Twitter?

Still not found any practical use for random people posting random thoughts throughout the day...

Can be good for various journalistic enterprises and for companies to interact with consumers. Outside of this Twitter is mostly narcissistic nonsense, a fairly sad reflection of society as a whole.

One positive is that he's displayed a fighting spirit?

Why on earth do footballers even use twitter? It's full of gobshites trying to get a 'bite' and if/when they do it just causes outrage like this. He's an idiot for responding how he did though regardless.

Ego's need feeding just like trolls.

Best's latest misdemeanour is not quite on a par in terms of lack of self awareness with Pedersen proudly displaying pictures of his latest Ferrari on social media just after we were relegated but still, what effect must this utter moron be having on the attitude and morale of the rest of the squad?

Best sounds like some blingy wannabee gangster who either doesn't realise or care or both that he is expected to perform to a decent standard to justify his extortionate wage. You'd also think that having recently been fined for his recent contributions on Twitter even someone with very low iq would have the sense and good grace, not to get drawn into a war of words on social networking sites again.

The irony is that he could have turned the incident into a PR coup if he'd had an ounce of common sense and he'd replied something along the lines "I'm sorry you feel that way about my wage, I realise I'm tremendously fortunate to earn the money I do, and I'll do my best to justify that and repay the Club and the fans during the rest of my time here." But like Tom says, he probably doesn't even care.

How do you punish him? By the sounds of it you wouldn't exactly want him training with the kids and poisoning their outlook as well. Trouble is you cant see snyone else being remotely interested in him given the way he's performed here and his wage.

I've always thought this, Bowyer now needs to ban his players from using social media sites like twitter.
