According to Alan Nixon in today Sunday People says that Rovers are looking pay off Leon Best. would cost 3 mil but IMO worth it to get rid of him. He has a massive attitude problems and big ego.

But it is clear that Best isn't in Bowyer plans and that why we bought in Gestede on loan with a view of signing him permanent.

he is on 34k a week according to Alan Nixon Article. still cant believe that Rovers give him a 4 year contract and the wages we are paying him.

The only good thing about this is that it shows some planning for the future BUT only if the pay off is funded by Venkys and not added to Rovers' India bank tab.

I just really wish that as part of this 'planning' that they would engage with the Trust and get them on board.

I had high hopes for Best when we signed him. Newcastle fans like him and he did well for them in the Championship and Premier League. Sadly for us he seems to be one of the increasing number of players whose ego and attitude eclipse their ability.

Even though I was pleased we signed him I was a bit alarmed at the reported wages and length of contract. Another instance of our esteemed owners having their pants pulled down in public I'm afraid.

I'd have a massive attitude prob if I could become a free agent AND have 3m in my back sack to boot. Just make life as unpleasant for him as possible within the terms of his contract until he comes up with a solution. Then bin all long term contracts, they really are unecessary in this day and age.

I didn't share your optimism chris, best to look for players on an upward curve rather than those on a downward one. In many cases settling for 2nd best is defeatist mentality and is in their heads.

If nixon thinks we are paying him off for 3 million then in all likelihood we are either not paying him off, or paying him off for less.

I can't remember a nixon story about rovers which wasn't bull or overly negative about rovers.

Would be glad to see best go.

You would hope the club could negotiate his exit with another club rather than just paying him straight off. I'm not 100% sure how the rolling of a contract over to another club works but if another club was to pay him say £10k p.w, we would pay off the excess £24k p.w for the remainder of his contract (shudder!!!!!)

I might be wide of the mark (fitting considering the thread) but I dont recall many other clubs ever paying off contracts the way we are. There must be many other examples of clubs being stuck with over paid dross they can't shift. But they seem to be able to shift them on without these monumental pay offs.

I really don't know what the FFP rules are or what the level of fines are, but if it's cheaper to pay Best off than get fined for going over the wage budget then it makes a bit of sense.

I am informed that he is finished at BRFC. He is training with the reserves and is not allowed near the 1st team. Even more shocking is that he stood in the centre circle, declared 'this is what I think of Blackburn' and p1ssed on the centre spot.

My mate who told me felt this act of pissing on Jack Walkers legacy was like pissing on his grave.

By recent actions our "bro's' are hardly covering themselves in much glory are they? Almost 100 grand a week between 3 of them and none of em ever likely to walk out on the pitch again is shameful.
