Backroom Tom Posted April 16, 2015 Backroom Posted April 16, 2015 He has been shocking at Brighton and Derby this season. How many goals has Best got this season? The same as BrownI'm not saying he hasn't been bad but saying he shouldn't be near is a pointless statement when we have to pay him anyway

Backroom DE. Posted April 16, 2015 Backroom Posted April 16, 2015 Best is absolutely awful. Will negatively impact the team through his lazy work rate, causing other players to become frustrated. I'd rather pay him not to play.
Andyblue2 Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Best has it in him to score a few at this level and whilst we are paying him, might asŵell try and get a tune out of him. Ok it's not worked out at Brighton, but Chris Hughton is no plonker and he's worked with him at Newcastle before I think, so he muse see sumfink in him. We all know he's a bit of a toss pot, but who hasn't worked with a toss pot over the years.....bowyer needs to man up and get his squad United
AdamRochina Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 im sorry but i would rarther have us play in the confence then this guy getting another game for us, even after a bad knee break and back back injury and only just recovering properly at the gym i would offer more on the pitch then he ever could and im unfit as @#/?, he offers nothing, hes lazy unmotivated and has no passion or care in the world for any club he has played for if you gave me the choice of swallowing a pack of razor blades or having him upfront for us , then Its a no brainer il swallow them one by one!

The only time he as scored double digits in one season was in League 1 in 2006-07 when he scored 10 goals in 15 games. Other than that, average at best. 54 goals in 241 games so far... According to Champinonship Stats on Twitter so far for Brighton he as scored 0 goals in 12 games and managed 2 shots on goals in those games...

And what would Rudys stats be under similar circumstances? 200 games, less than 40 goals....similar? And no premier league experience...in fact LB form has come in the Prem
mhead Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Saw him at Watford away some 2 years ago. We were terrible and got trounced. Best got sent off in strange circumstances -and it stank to high heaven.
Blue blood Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Bad character and been pretty rank now at 3 clubs - including one with a manager he actually gets on with! Disaster doesn't sum the guy up enough. Not too sure what to do with him - we can't be doing with characters like him around the dressing room, he doesn't look like he'll add anything (at least Brown is cheap and useless) and I'd be loath to pay him off, both ethically and as it's a waste of resources. Best bet would be to get him out on loan again, with someone taking a fraction of his wages. Far from ideal but there's no win in this situation. That we've got him out on loan twice before suggests we might have a chance of it.
tomphil Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 He's the next Bentley and looks ready to jack it all in. He's made that much money out of his Rovers contract he just can't be assed with the graft. Plonk him in a decent team where he might get hero worshipped just for being there and he might make a bit of effort otherwise forget it. He has the demeanour of one who needs to be put out of his misery. I'm glad we haven't paid him off but shunted him around to try and at least make him earn a bit of his corn when it's obvious he doesn't want to. Send him to an outpost somewhere for the remainder of his contract, if he refuses it's a pity they can't find a way to tear it up !
tomphil Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Maybe he could be sent to brunei? lol Yes, to pay homage to the one who made it all possible !
1864roverite Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Considering Rovers position FFP wise, I think we are stuck with him and may be the only alternative when we sell Rudy and Rhodes in the close season. I dread to imagine, Best and Brown up front. BAB !!! Says it all really
Backroom Tom Posted April 17, 2015 Backroom Posted April 17, 2015 Honestly think football is just a means to support his Sneaker business A payoff would be dreamworld for him
West Yorks Rover Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 I'm guessing they'll do a deal when his contract reaches the final 12 months, maybe 75-80% pay-off.
roverthetopp Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Probably the best striker at the club, shame he has never bee given a fair chance
frosty Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Probably the best striker at the club, shame he has never bee given a fair chance
Andyblue2 Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Probably the best striker at the club, shame he has never bee given a fair chance I agree with you.
Amo Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 I agree with you. He has ability but he's chosen to waste it, not just at Rovers, but at the clubs he's been on loan at. He hasn't exactly been sticking it to us for letting him go, has he? I agree with what tomphil said, the guy has a serious ego-complex. If he thinks he's the club's star striker maybe he'll keep his head down and get on with his football, but he couldn't handle playing second fiddle to Rhodes.
Backroom DE. Posted April 18, 2015 Backroom Posted April 18, 2015 Best has played 14 times for us and scored twice. On loan he's played 28 times and scored 4. Ridiculous to suggest he's a better option than Rhodes or Gestede. Best striker at the club? Not until next season when we've got Browny and another freebie journeyman of some sort leading the line.

Dreyski Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Ship him off to Pune for a year, have him as PA to the Raos and hope they sack him.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted April 23, 2015 Moderation Lead Posted April 23, 2015 Don't do that, his wife might get on with Mrs Desai and he could end up the new manager.....
rickard Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Don't do that, his wife might get on with Mrs Desai and he could end up the new manager..... I would laugh at that if it wasn't a scenario that might actually happen...

According to ' Soccerbase' he's made 33 appearances for Derby and Brighton this season and scored zero goals. I appreciate the majority of his Derby appearances were from the bench, but even so, those stats are shockingly bad for a £3m striker at this level.
