MP claiming expenses for work on his SECOND home. Pay for it yourself or don't have it at all like the rest of us.

It's repulsive that we should be paying for any MPs kitchen whether it's their first or second home. I Can only guess at the reaction if i asked my employer to buy me a new oven.

It's an observation based on watching our US cousins gorge at the dining table. How is that "racist" ?

Oh oh - the O word again. I just can't see how someone can extrapolate their personal experience of certain nationalities to say that's what the entire population does. I didn't see what Jim said, but it sounds daft to me. Not racist, as America is not a race, but certainly wrong. It's a pretty harmless comment, but if you didn't like it, tell him. All the Americans I work with on a daily basis use chopsticks- one lad comically badly.

I did call what thenodrog said about the Tory candidate racist because that is precisely what it was. A British citizen, born in England, who did tours in both Afghanistan and Iraq lets himself down badly and tries to deceive the electorate. The "Wise Observer" says it's not surprising he would try to cheat as he is from "that side of the planet" referring to his race, and that's what "they" tend to do. Dismissing all the myriad influences on someones character and concentrating solely on his racial ancestry - that's racist.

I've just read back through the last few pages and some people seem to think I would defend or ignore the actions of ISIS and other radical Islamic groups. I've never and would never defend them. They are more bigoted, more degenerate and certainly more dangerous than any other group out there today. What I have said many times is that killing them is not a long term solution.

Finally just because I don't feel the need to chant "SCUM SCUM SCUM SCUM SCUM" on a messageboard every 5 minutes and then sneer at those who don't join in doesn't mean I'm not horrified by the barrage of gut-wrenching stories coming out of the Middle-East.

You said

Not racist, as America is not a race.......

..........The "Wise Observer" says it's not surprising he would try to cheat as he is from "that side of the planet" referring to his race,

Then "that side of the planet" by definition is not a race either is it? :wstu:

You are a troublemaking, heavily agenda'd, odious individual. We don't need your kind on here...... Oh and to deflect your next metaphorical finger pointing, face contorted with rage accusation of 'RACIST" I said that without even knowing what breed you are.

Let's just put this "Race" "Racist" thing to bed once and for all shall we! There is only ONE Race and that's the Human Race. This term that the left wing PC brigade constantly throw about is in fact a total misnomer. Xenophobe would be more appropriate and I see nothing Xenophobic in people pointing out character traits in other nationalities. All nationalities differ and that is an indisputable fact and I really do feel it's time that certain individuals resigned their positions as "The professionally offended" and accept that those that highlight these differences are not being bigoted or prejudiced. As Trevor Phillips quite rightly pointed out, public concerns and debate about those concerns is being stifled through fear, fear of being labelled as the very things some are maliciously accused of being on these boards.

I agree with most of what your saying otto,

The difference I see though is that some people make xenophobic comments out of ignorance or just a bit of banter and then you have those that knowingly make xenophobic comments with the sole intention of belittling, deliberately trying to offend and just beong a plane old nasty cok.

Interesting post Otto - I agree that fear is stifling decent debate. But I think the problem is the fear ginned up by the insular and insecure, both from those in the majority and the minority. Fear of the foreign is precisely what xenophobia means.

I don't agree at all with that highlighted bit. Pointing out differences and especially ascribing negative character traits to entire nationalities is always going to be divisive and counter-productive. Individual behaviour and individual responsibility is where people should be held accountable.

I can't see how someone can interpret a remark based on personal observation of a number of people to mean a populace of more than 300 million. Anyone would be daft to do so.

French prosecutors say the co-pilot deliberately locked the captain out of the cockpit, manually input commands to descend and then sat there in silence for ten minutes until it crashed into the alps. The captain was trying to break into the cockpit but couldn't get in.

Horrific.

An argument for a return to open-door cockpits?

I don't know Toppers. I'm stunned that the cockpit can be completely locked out by a single person though - that's a huge security flaw. I always assumed there were ways for, at the very least, both pilots to get in even if the door was locked and they were outside.

Apparently there is an emergency code that can be input from outside the cockpit, but if the door is deadlocked from inside that's useless too.

Unbelievably tragic. It's one thing to be suicidal, it's an entirely different level to take more than 100 people with you. And for what? Sheer madness. How often do pilots have psych-evaluations?

Abbey - I have no idea what you are on about. Trying to settle some score you have with me using a story like this is pretty pathetic though.

News channels saying the alps plane crashed deliberately ! Are they racist to ultra ?

Wtf are you talking about! Your using an incident where people have lost theor lives just so you can vindictively get one up on another forum member, Your not happy unless your givong somebody on here stick for some imaginary bs youve invented in your hate filled mind or other.

From what ive heard on the news the pilot was german, most likely he just went loopy and decided crashing the plane would be a good idea, not all disasters have to be terrorist related.
