that's a nice sentiment.

While we are on the nice thing, I suppose you voted for a nice councillor that was one of the people responsible for approving the buildings that you now consider to be an eyesore.

Nice payback by them, how do you feel about,

nice or indifferent ?

If only you and your horrible little clique would put me on ignore and stopped using my name evertime you want to make a snidy post.

I should be getting paid as a psychiatrist by the nhs for giving you few somewhere to project your own insecurities and anger onto, god knows what would happen if you didnt have an outlet.

Iraq was an international effort led by the US and Britain to combat the rise of al-Qaeda and terrorism in the wake of 9/11. Pretending it was an attempt to recreate the "Falklands Factor" (whatever that is) is laughable. Unlike the old witch, Blair didn't need an old colonial war to boost his popularity because of failed policies at home. Iraq was Britain at its best - taking a lead in world events, just the sort of venture that the author of the piece regrets we no longer participate in.

Now back to the article and our diminished role in the world....

''Iraq was Britain at its best'' Surely the piece that condemns this contributor to history.

A foreign offensive without a UN mandate (note that the UN was conceived after WWII to stop further global war).

Blair's foreign policy led to the instability that gave to the rise of IS.

  • Moderation Lead

The thing is though, as we need the USA onside as an ally, I've got massive doubts that any British political leader would have done differently to Blair.

Even if the whole thing was ultimately wrong......

The invasion happened in 2003; Saddam was convicted of genocide. The problem was withdrawing troops around 2011.

Might as well say the Russian sponsoured regime of Assad also is the guilty party for bombing the daylights out of his own people, something that happens still.

I have to say that as bad as Saddam, Assad and Gaddafi were/are, they kept the threat of radicalism at bay very well.

When American tanks smashed into Baghdad, Saddam had already completed construction of an anthrax production facility, which was a week away from going live. If it had been permitted to go into production, this one facility could have produced ten tons of weaponized anthrax a year. Experts estimate that anthrax spores that infect the skin will kill 50 percent of untreated victims. Inhaled anthrax will kill 100 percent of untreated victims and 50 percent of those receiving immediate treatment. That means that a mere 1 percent of Saddam’s annual production (200 pounds) sprayed by crop-duster over New York City would have killed upwards of three million people.

He had anthrax, CIA had to buy WMDs

All of the WMD information comes from the Duelfer Commission Report — particularly the second and third volumes. The report can be found here. The Left said this document proved there were no WMDs — of course, they only read the executive summary. The commission was put together to look into what went wrong with prewar intelligence, and that is what they reported out on. However, in the two volumes no one bothered to read, the commission members detail all of the stuff that was actually present. You have to read almost to the end of volume three to learn about the real bio-warfare labs.

Duelfer Report Commission, http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/GPO-DUELFERREPORT/content-detail.html 3 volumes, I will have to read this later on. Especially volume 3 which seems to report on these items.

Christopher Lee dies.

Loved all the Dracula films as a kid and the Wicker Man shocked me as a youngster.

The original Wicker Man is still a bit disturbing watching it now!

Great British actor - RIP
