Lets reword your argument Gordon.

Can you provide links to disprove your theory that she wasnt extreme?

I'm no expert, but aren't you asking him to prove a negative? It's the equivalent of the judge telling a defendant, "Prove your innocence."

Very interesting article in todays Guardian comparing the way the Norwegian government used their North Sea Oil windfall with the way the British government used ours. Ours has been completely squandered in tax cuts mainly benefitting the rich. This consequently forced house prices up to a level were young people can't afford to buy. Norway wisely invested the windfall in the national infrastructure.

Did it mention the key fact behind this that Norway are NOT in the eu and in turn not having to pay through the nose for the priviledge ?

And what has this to do with Thatcher closing down manufacturing industry in the North of England?

err.... because up here is a Labour stronghold and her heartland support was always in the South? Do you really need the obvious spelling out Al?

Yep, the first rule of politics - " Reward your friends and punish your enemies ". Shame that the Labour Party never put that into practice. Maybe they never knew the difference ?

Exactly what I was saying Gordon. I won't argue with you on that point.

France, Ireland and Italy are in the EU and have "sovereign wealth" funds (as they are known) albeit much smaller than Norway's. So bang goes another myth about the EU.

We had the chance to build a SWF in the 1980s but as been pointed out the Tories p!ssed it up the wall on tax cuts for their friends in high places.

Ditto Gordon Brown with the 3G licences.

Tony Blair did a tour of the country after the 1997 election victory looking at schools, hospitals and other public institutions. He was appalled at what he saw - basically crumbling buildings and infrastructure and generally substandard facilities as a result of 19 years of Conservatives neglect. It took Labour years and billions of pounds to repair the damage and bring everything up to modern standards. It looks like they'll have a similar rebuilding job in 2015 after this present lot have wreaked further destruction.

And in the process, Labour @#/? up the economy!

Both parties are to blame for the state of Britain, but unfortunately none of them have the foresight to take pieces of what works from both parties!

Nearest I'd get to voting atmo would be for Labour tbh, but I refuse because they're all complete arses imo.

Thank you mister Ellison for pointing that out. The PFI contracts Blair and Brown happily saddled the NHS with hugely expensive contracts for catering, cleaning and other such things. The private companies that won those contracts initially offered a good deal to build the hospital, but then made a fortune for doing the odd jobs and other running costs. Thanks to 'New' Labour (or Nice Tories), subsequent generations are going to have to shoulder the massive costs of this as well as retiring when they're 70, claw their way back to a living wage etc.
