My thorough condolences, reading up, Dengue Fever seems to be a real problem over there.

I would feel devastated.

This article is in regards to Myanmar but that is still in South East Asia.

Dengue fever ravages cities - ASEAN

----------

This is science which I don't know but I am familiar with a few lyme fever cases, anywhere from someone who slowed down but seemed to recover to more severe cases.

The 1980s and much of the 1990s were appalling decades. Manufacturing was sacrificed in order to teach the unions a lesson while vast swathes of the north were left to decline and decay. Meanwhile the Big Bang in the City let the financial services industry off the leash and led ultimately to the fiscal crisis of 2007 onwards and unbalanced southern dominated economy we have today.

Ever thought that the work was taken to lower fixed cost countries with cheaper employment and far less regulation were you can do basically what you want.

Which is probably why our pay masters want out of Europe today as Europe adds more and more regulation with each passing year.

Interesting fact about mosquitoes: it's only the females who bite.

B*tches.

Exactly what happened to a lot of companies in the Blackburn area, as you know JAL.

Read the comments, Listen to the clip and yet again we are hearing the standard mealy mouthed comments from any number of hand wringing apologists.... 'he was a good boy' / 'a good student' / 'from a devout family' / 'its somebody else's fault' blah blah blah to infinity.

Brainwashing any religion, but islam in particular, from the cradle and especially one that majors on difference and intolerance is the cause of the radicalisation of young muslims not some fervent internet Jack Raki in the middle east tapping away on a computer keyboard. Religious instruction at such an impressionable age is like packing a bomb full of high explosive material. All ISIS have done is uncover the bomb before lighting the blue touchpaper and retiring to a safe distance. If fingers are to be pointed then lets not look away from our own society as the main contributors to the current state of affairs are not some backward religious cranks but rather any number of agenda'd islamic organisations, various education authorities and councils who actively encourage secular education in return for political favour, and any number of politicians too frightened for their own careers to stand up for right and wrong.

Just as an aside can any mohammedans on here explain how when homo sapiens have been on this planet for circa 1,000,000 years and Islam has been in existence for just 1300 years what happened before? Who looked after us then? Christians can join in too. Please explain why either (or any) religion is actually necessary when the human race was developing quite nicely for around 998500 years without any requirement for invisible friends that somebody felt the need to invent them and especially now that most civilisations already have their own set of man made laws to adhere to? As far as I can see there is not a shred of logic which can possibly be applied to justify any of this.

It was to impart a code of ethics Gord. Before religion there were laws but the only incentive to keep to the law was a fear of punishment. Religion was invented to make people have a conscience and keep to the law. First you invent a myth and then get the population to believe in it.

It worked for a while but now that all the myths have got together it causes rifts and is outdated. Not just the Muslim religion but all of them. Most of the world is now basically civilised and religion no longer necessary, in fact the biggest threat to peace existing. It would be great if it could be eliminated.

Quite the opposite these days. Religious zealots and fanatics tend to feel that they are above the law and answer to a higher authority.

There have always been religions of sorts. It seems mankind feels the need for them. Christianity and Islam are johnny cum lately's really. High time Zeus or Odin returned to intervene and give em all a proper paggering.

Okay, I think this is the correct decision probably for this level of the military which is not full-on military service, more of something you do a few times a month at the school level.

In Canada, there was a case of a football player. I'm trying to remember, I think that was a Sikh too but they didn't want to allow the player to wear his turban during matches because it was not part of the dress code and could interfere when one is making a header for example.

They'll probably find some 'interpretation' in their silly book to explain it all.

Hitchens nailed it, I'll look for the clip

Just to be clear though - religion, or at least the belief in invisible friends as thenodrog puts it, existed for thousands, probably tens of thousands of years before the major religions of today. We have the enlightenment to thank for kicking our bottoms into gear.

Edit: just saw thenodrog mentioned Zeus et al. in a second post.

Religion developed imo as a means of explaining the inexplicable e.g what else could cause thunder and lightning but an angry god? What else could cause the eternal struggle between day and night but celestial combat of some sort? Now we have advanced knowledge there is very little that cannot be explained through our understanding of science and technology. Hence my incredulity that hallal and kosher is still demanded by their subjects and even worse permitted by civilised societies anywhere but particularly in the west.

1500 years ago slicing through the carotid artery and jugular vein was the quickest and most humane way to slaughter an animal in the best interests of both human and animal welfare. Well done to the old prophets for that BUT this was many centuries before gunpowder and electricity were even invented never mind harnessed by man to provide quicker and more humane methods. If the various prophets back then were so keen on animal welfare then their followers are now spitting in their eye. ......... and (beginning to sound like old Hitchens here) if they were truly prophets then why tf didn't they see all this crap coming?

Here is an article worth noting on the passing of Christopher Lee;

Christopher Lee Warned of the Occult: ‘You’ll Lose Your Soul’

http://cnsnews.com/blog/eric-scheiner/christopher-lee-warned-occult-youll-lose-your-soul

In spite of the movies he made, he knew to stay away from the Occult, I even tossed a few rock and roll cds, it's nothing to fool around with. Keep it out of the house.

Topical I know but worrying.

Like many of us I've listened to the reports of thousands of migrants paying traffickers to venture across the Med, and not really thought a lot of it if I'm being honest.

Took me a little by surprise the numbers involved, do you know the number for Italy alone has passed 50,000 ?! How many f*&^%in' dinghies is that ?

Italy are now desperate for other countries to share the burden, they should be told to get stuffed. Australia had the right idea from day one. Come as close as you like but do NOT land, and the French are busy pushing migrants toward Calais hoping they'll get to Blighty.

This is a real problem folks, it won't be long before Italy starts to fold and issues them all with travel documents. They'll all be banging on the door thanks to the free movement nonsense within the poxy EU.

And God knows how many are linked to Isis.

Unbelievable. Donald Trump is running for President. He has already said he plans to build a giant wall along the Mexican border that Mexico will pay for. He also said he has a plan that is guaranteed to defeat ISIS, but it's a secret.

The Daily Show will be a must watch from today until Jon Stewart leaves in August.

My heart goes out to the people of Charleston it really does, but on all the news bulletins can we please stop saying "African-American". For f*^'s sake none of the people purporting to be the above have never been anywhere near Africa. They're about as African as my Dad, and he was born in Darwen.
