Rover_Shaun Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 £55m+ plus debt for a club that earns a pittance. A squad stripped of and now bereft of much quality. An executive structure that would struggle to run a sweet shop and a manager who's a complete unknown. The likely path is downward and standing still is an ambition Does it really need elaborating on? When will the penny drop?

Roverall Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Doom-mongering doesn't help, but neither does false positivity. The club has been decimated and will likely never recover. That is a statement of fact.
beatrix Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 There are two aspects to consider about BRFC looking forward, ie on the pitch and off the pitch. I think there are positives on the pitch at the moment, the team in general is trying harder, we have some good young players being given a chance. Grant hanley, Tom cairney, Taylor, Henley, Eastwood, Lowe etc with more experienced decent players at this level mixed in. A manager who cares about the club with the right background. However off the pitch is a nightmare, £55 mill loss losing £2.5 m per month ? Owners 5000 miles away and apparently disinterested, top management with massive question marks against them and probably not up to the job. A real nightmare we will be lucky to survive from. Difficult to see how anybody can be positive about off the field issues.
Bucksrover Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 All of the negative points made in this thread are true. Things on the whole at Rovers aren't great and I don't think any sane person would say that they are. But I am still looking forward to going to the match on Saturday, I am hopeful that we have a chance of winning, and I think at Championship level we don't have too bad a squad. We are in the process of signing a young local player who is tipped to be good. So, those of us who rely on football for a bit of an escape from the day to day are going to try and focus on the positives (however few and small they are.) I don't think there is anything wrong with having this one thread where fans can discuss positives about the club. There are plenty of threads for those addicted to being miserable to sing the blues.

T.J.Newton Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Should change the name to "the @#/? deja vue thread"
Rover_Shaun Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 for those that cannot read the question was When The club may plod along unremarkably and unconsistently on the pitch, and we all know we are a midtable team now, but until the debt is tackled it's akin to putting a dress on a pig imo It's the big elephant in the room
TBTF Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 £55m+ plus debt for a club that earns a pittance. A squad stripped of and now bereft of much quality. An executive structure that would struggle to run a sweet shop and a manager who's a complete unknown. The likely path is downward and standing still is an ambition Does it really need elaborating on? When will the penny drop? Couldnt agree more B&WA. In any other walk of life where there is such a massive problem and particulalry a public one, there is usually some kind of statement bordering on a plan of how it will be tackled and hopefully resolved. There hasnt been a murmur out of Pune (for which we perhaps ought to be grateful based on past ramblings) and those in Blackburn are somewhere between powerless and clueless as to what to do.You rightly state that we are never standing still with that massive millstone round our necks. You can't hope to move forward on the field whilst off the field is so rancid. Its nigh on impossible. So, we have a club that nobody can or would buy and owners who nobody wants but of whom we are fearful of the consequences should they down tools and go. So unless you actually don't really care about things that much you cannot possibly get to a mindset of anything positive going on at Rovers anytime in the forseeable future. By definition therefore it slowly withers away as fans gradually and increasingly start to give up the ghost. Personally i am not at that point-yet-but what is it we are supporting here?? A wretched regime of nothingness and should we start to slip off the pace to a point where play offs genuinely do get out of sight then 2014 could be a real struggle on any number of levels imaginable. That is my opiniion and i am there to be shot at so feel free.I dont consider myself a doom merchant but it is extremely hard to think in positive terms about the Club.I am sure many others who might feel the same have either departed the scene or will contemplate doing so in the near future and the downward spiral therfore continues. And no i am not PhilipL under another name nor is anything i have said based on any kind of ITK !!

For some reason I think the club won't go into administration. However the downside of that is that the loons will still be around, the club will still be a hollowed out mess and anything good that happens can only be a temporary feeling before reality re-emerges that this is a Venkys owned Rovers. More a "the sun sometimes shines on a dogs arse" feeling.

I'm a positive person in life generally but my love and passion for the club is being drained away however hard I try. I have not enjoyed the football much, if at all, since the Venkys arrived and I have hated everything else about the club. What else is left? I have been embarrassed, saddened and disgusted in equal measure many times over recent events. Sometimes however much you love something, there comes a time you have to let it go, especially if it's not making you happy. Good post by the way. I feel a belonging on here I've lost at the ground.

Guest Norbert Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Even the cricket is failing to provide a distraction! Sport is utter w_nk at the moment (unless you are an Aussie on here). I have to wait another 6 months to the Tour De France. And I bet Andy Murray will win Sports Personality of the Year.

And so he should win it, he was magnificent at Wimbledon and deserves it for uping his game in the manner he has.
Amo Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 And so he should win it, he was magnificent at Wimbledon and deserves it for uping his game in the manner he has. Just missing the Personality part.
Majiball Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Just missing the Personality part. I wouldn't expect an ill educated english person to be able to appreciate the sophisticated nuances of his Scottish personality.
