I was mainly basing my opinion on the match i was at versus Carlisle, in which he looked like, at best, a league two GK, which is where he came from. His all round game was poor, pretty much everything except close range shots. Obviously it's a bit unfaor to judge a player on one game, but his mistake for the 2nd goal in the Milwall game didn't help. Hopefully he improves with a run in the side and confidence gained but his origins and weak initial performance leave me less than optimistic.

Regarding his mistake for the second goal - after the Milwall match I couldn't have my umbrella up when leaving the ground because the wind was breaking it. The second goal came from a ball lofted into the box - it was possible for him to catch it, but I wouldn't class not catching it as a mistake in those conditions.

As I said - I am not saying he is the new Friedel, but I think he deserves his chance. And by chance I mean at least 5 or 6 games with fans supporting him.

We have time to give Eastwood because Kean needed a break and Robbo has Christmas dinners to see away before he starts slimming down from his darts-player physique.

Would Robinson have caught that corner from which Eastwood failed to do so ?

If so, its a no brainer regarding who's Rovers number one.

Let's not forget that wgile Robbo is a better keeper in many areas than Eastwood, he was always a Flappy Flapperson at corners and crosses.

Ability-wise I have to agree with this. Rovers fans are the best for selective memory when a player gets injured. Steven Reid. Ruben Rochina (who has been pretty terrible in the cameo appearances he's made since his "comeback"). Robbo...

But maybe his comeback is a positive boost that we need. Maybe he will be able to command the defence and the defenders can have confidence in their keeper once again. I think it's fair to say that his comeback is more about the fact that he seems to care more about the club than most have over the last few years. Having that back in the dressing room can only be a good things.

More importantly, though, it's good to see him fully recovered from a pretty traumatic 12 months for him.

pretty terrible?? He had about ten minutes at the end of one game...

Robinson has never been that bad (if bad at all), at Championship standard, fully fit, he should be quite good... We will see, but his experience and leadership skills should be a big boost to the team.

I agree with this Mike. Often a big aspect of a sides fortune can come from having a decent keeper. We'd been spoiled for years with Brad, and when Ince decided to spew him then Robinson (whilst never ever as good) did a half decent job coming in, particularly under Allardyce who used his kicking effectively.

Now we need an experienced head to talk to Dann/Hanley, maybe the full backs too. We have a very young squad and an old head might just help them to relax and concentrate a little more.

One thing I would say is that he isn't always dominant aerially, but I'm pretty sure he's better than Kean/Eastwood. Let's just hope we can get him fit to play.

I don't think the centre backs, in particular Dann, trust Kean or Eastwood to make decisions, you can tell at games by their body language.

Also the weakness of our centre backs for me is concentration and complacency, Robinson isn't afraid of shouting at his defenders, you can often hear him.

He's had two sub appearances, both of which he kept slipping (no other players had problems) and fannied around with the ball, giving it away. He reminds me of one of those football showboaters who have bags of skill but can't play football (the ones where they walk around with the ball on their head and so on). He should maybe ply his trade at that.

Not that it really matters...but for the sake of accuracy Ruben had 8 mins as sub vs reading in his 'comeback' game at home. He has been an unused sub in every game since

Delighted to see Robbo back.

He loves the club and genuinely cares.

Clearly he'll be an unsustainable wage, but unless we pay him off he'll be going nowhere.

He's streets ahead of Kean and Easty. I'd love to have him back between the sticks.

A fit Robbo with Spurr, Dann, Hanley, Kane and Lowe / Williamson as a defensive unit as six is extremely solid at this level.

Having watched him on Question of Sport, I think he's already lost a lot of the excess weight he was carrying, bearing in mind that tv makes you look bigger than you are. Just don't let him take a pen.

I walked past him and his wife outside the blues bar before the game and have to admit he did look like he'd shifted some timber since he last played in the first team!

Hopefullly his injury is only a minor setback and he's fit again for Saturday. If not, I'd bring back Kean. Eastwood looks absolutely lost and clearly has no authority when he lets people push him around.

None of our keepers fill me with confidence. But, to be honest, I think I probably still judge keepers on the Friedel scale. There won't be many who match his level of consistency. I think everyone knows that Robinson is our best option. But its kind of like choosing between tooth ache, ear ache or a head ache. None seem too appealing.

The team seemed to visibly shrink last night after Robbo was taken off.

Didn't notice him struggling with any injury last night before he was substituted, Was it apparent from TV he injured himself at some point in the first half?

You'd like to think that it was precautionary as we've heard bugger all about it since. Fingers crossed as Robbo makes a big positive difference to us as a team.

Bowyer said it was just precautionary as it tightened up. He said he was hopefull that they caught it in time and they will assess it today
