[Archived] Beware of Jack the treacle eater! Away day at Yeovil - December 21st

Just a heads-up that Parsonblue couldn't make it down to Yeovil for the match this weekend, so there won't be a Parsonblue match report this weekend.

If anyone who went along to the match wants to give it a go and write a report, please send it to me via PM. Don't worry about team sheets and the like, by the way - that's covered.

I could do it and I wasn't even there! I bet it would be more accurate than the Football League Show

I think Rochina did actually make a better effort at goal than Jason would have done.... and I'm one who rates Lowe's contributions to the team efforts.

That pretty much goes without saying, if the only option was pass to Lowe then a shot is fine. Looked like there was somebody on the wing (I assume Taylor) in a lot of space though, which could have opened up a better opportunity. It matters not in this instance but it may do in future.

It had absolutely no power on it whatsoever and was an easy save.

Are you talking about something else? Of course it had some power on it. Which is incredibly hard to get with that skill from that distance. Wasn't particularly easy save either, and with a bit of luck it would have been flying either side of the goalie. In essence, you're just talking knackers.

It floated in the air and the keeper easily tipped it over. He should have passed it wide or hit it with his right foot, or even the outside of his left.

With a bit of luck ie accuracy? I know it wasn't an easy skill, which perhaps means that he should have tried something else.

He is a very talented player who I like but he certainly doesn't deserve to stroll back into the team, especially instead of Dunn who is much more productive.

I think you need to watch it again. There's a clip. Maybe you watched it live and time seemed to slow down for you or something. As to luck/accuracy, with a skill like that the most minor deviation in his footing could have put it either side of the keeper. He struck it well. I'd say he was a little unlucky with it, which is remarkable. Whether he should have done something else is a different matter, you said it was weakly hit and it absolutely wasn't.

And the goal of the season comp could have been wrapped up right there and then.

Not after 60 mins he isn't!

btw if it had 'floated in the air' smack bang into your nutsack at that speed I think you might have decided that it had more pace than you are willing to give credit for. You seem to have forgotten that we have all seen it on the link.

Does Jason Lowe shake his head afterwards?[/quote

Some people will say anytging to support their opinions. I don't know how anyone can say that is anything but a great piece of skill. If he'd missed by miles fair enough but he forced the keeper into a save so fair does great effort.

I don't think anyone would say it isn't a hard skill. My criticism would be that he might have had a better chance scoring if he hadn't been showing off.

Had we been 3 up I would have liked it. But we could well have conceded late on. Rochina has great skill, but really needs to work on some end product

If if if. Well done Rochina I say

It's fine lines between being considered a donkey and a tremendous talent. A bit like those penalties that get chipped in over the diving keeper if goes in great if keeper just stands up straight and catches it you look a buffoon.

In this case as he forced a save from the keeper and he got away with it unlike dunny in the midlands derby. I'd have liked him to just be able to smash it in with his right foot as don't remember too many rabona's in shearers 112 goals for us.

That said I'd rather pay my money to watch a creative player like rochina than a nondescript up and down player like Lowe.

For the entire league, too, not just for us. If a goal like that was scored in the Prem, it would probably win theirs too.

Rochina is certainly inconsistent, at times a liability, and the most technically gifted player in our squad. How many bums on seats do you think he would bring back if he could get his head straight and find some consistency?

That's outrageously brilliant! As was Rochinas effort yesterday, a half a yard lower and wider - then goal of the season. As it turned out though I can't help but think - where's his right foot ffs?

And those are the margins we work in. Genius or failure? Flash git or wrong un? Asset or liability?

Anyway, he scores when he wants. Bloody brilliant, old school, terracing, away trip. Loved it. BRFC.

The difference between Pirlo V England in the Euros and Jann Kermorgant in the play off semis a few years ago!

Your prejudice is showing. Rochina is the most skilful player we have. He should be nurtured not driven out. Watch him succeed with another club when he leaves and then you will realise what we almost had.

Prejudice against people trying tricks they can't pull off, instead of passing to someone in space to score. Not prejudice as much as common sense.

Gutted we didn't make it......even woke up at 7am and tried to get the troops going but no joy.

We ended up at Booths in Clitheroe being ‘Trolley assaulted’ by agressive pensioners panicking over Christmas, I swear a day out at Millwall would have been less agro!
