Amo Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Yeovil are a very poor team for this league so you cant take anything from this game except ask why didnt Rovers win by more. In the spirit of the season, kindly stfu and enjoy something Rovers-related for once.
JAL Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 In the spirit of the season, kindly stfu and enjoy something Rovers-related for once. Trying to keep that sense of balance before one or two get carried away, which they do, when, or if, Rovers might happen to lose a game in the near future and wonder how or why this might happen after beating someone like Yeovil Town.
Backroom Tom Posted December 22, 2013 Backroom Posted December 22, 2013 JAL it sounds as though if Dunny had his shooting boots or some of the 7 million chances fell to Rhodes we would have walked it It also sounds that apart from a shaky few minutes we performed well throughout
JAL Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 JAL it sounds as though if Dunny had his shooting boots or some of the 7 million chances fell to Rhodes we would have walked it It also sounds that apart from a shaky few minutes we performed well throughout It was only Yeovil Tom ! yet the stark fact remains that other than Jordan Rhodes we have no one else to support Jordan in putting the ball into the back of the net on a regular basis.
Gav Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Result is all that matters, most on here thought Donny would be a push over but I wish we'd beaten them 1-0! If we win people want more goals, if we lose its Rhodes fault as he's not a team player, this site is a fooking joke at times.
Brfcrule1 Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 I'm going to email the BBC. Poor journalism. dub you should not really bother with the BBC bias gimps the lot of them and as for that Manish Bhasin he's the biggest tool of them all never replies to any tweets you should do what the rest of us do subscribe to rovers player and you get to watch the whole 90 minutes of every game and for £5.49 per mth is a fantastic deal well worth every penny.
Neal Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Do you reckon? Sheff Wed December 13 P4 W2 L2. Sheff Wed 1-2 Bournemouth Watford 0-1 Sheff Wed Sheff Wed 0-1 Nottm Forest Sheff Wed 2-1 Leicester Some decent results there. Underestimate anyone in this Division at your peril Neal. Of course, but having no manager and looking at their dreadful performance yesterday... We should be looking to tear them to bits.

West Yorks Rover Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Harsh.... or uninformed. In the past 2 months Yeovil have beaten Forest, Watford and Blackpool. Decent form recently, no doubt down to taking 3 Prem squad players on loan. So, pretty good result !
USABlue Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Lowe wasn't the only option, though. Somebody was out on the wing, seriously?
thenodrog Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Somebody was out on the wing, seriously?RW. Taylor was in space on the back post.
Stuart Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Got to love the fact that Rochina provides a moment of sublime quality, something to marvel at, in a game we won, and a complete plodder like Lowe shakes his head in disgust, and people rush to defend... Lowe! It seems to have become a sport in itself.

Lowe! It seems to have become a sport in itself. It was more of a training ground trick Stuart and best left there really. Very clever trick mind you, but most managers wouldn't want it - being only one goal up in an away game. Put the game to bed first.

Put the game to bed first. This is exactly the reason why managers put out weakened sides in the FA Cup. All of the romance in football is dead. The fact is he very nearly scored and, the law of averages says that Lowe would have hit row Z. By the corner flag. Rochina fancied it and had a crack. If he had hit it with his other foot - normal fashion - we wouldn't even be discussing it. Don't we want to admire in footballers stuff we CANNOT do ourselves, and at least make them (try to) earn their ridiculous wages? Maybe it's just because it's Christmas and I'm getting a bit misty-eyed.

Very clever trick mind you, but most managers wouldn't want it - being only one goal up in an away game. Put the game to bed first. I understand what you're saying but the game should have been put to bed in the first half by all accounts. Dunn should have scored one or two and yet the focus is on a sub who played one third of the match. We do need to get better as a team at capitalising on our better periods during matches and scoring when we're in control. We don't seem to be able to get that 2nd goal at present to give us some breathing space and relax GB and give him an opportunity to play others for longer.

Lowe! It seems to have become a sport in itself. You don't think Rochina did what he did because he is one- footed? It was sublime alright but cracking it in with his right foot would have been more impressive.

Very clever trick mind you, but most managers wouldn't want it - being only one goal up in an away game. Put the game to bed first. Stu and Den, it was a sublime piece of skill, how he did it lord knows and for those that think it was a 'looper' and a comfortable save you weren't at the game. I was in line and it was hit with unbelievable venom. I agree that Rochina frustrates and is over elaborate at times but he excites. The game should have been out of sight, Dunny and Rochina could have had a hat trick each. Why the focus is on this god knows. I think the stats say we had 25 attempts on goal of which 12 were on target It was a thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining match and could easily have finished up 8-3. We're all doom mongers on here generally but enjoy it while we can, I certainly did on Saturday. Get down to Ewood on Boxing Day!!

Maybe it's just because it's Christmas and I'm getting a bit misty-eyed. I absolutely know what you mean Stuart. However, you know deep down that the odds of him scoring were remote. He didn't "nearly" score. You wouldn't want him to do that every time would you, and the manager who had been working all his footballing life towards getting the players to perform unselfishly and for the good of the team, wouldn't have wanted it either- unless of course the game was won. The game wasn't out of sight and it was the wrong decision to play tricks. As 47er said, just hit it with his right foot. We would have been talking more about him if he'd actually done the easier thing and scored.
Riverside67 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Strange reading the Yeovil match reports how much they thought Rovers we average by comparison with the other teams down there this season. They hit the woodwork twice and could have had a penalty. Two sides to every story I know but with 5 in midfield we should really be less vunerable than what we are. Someone in the reports on the game who went said above that Lowe had to cover for a lack of effort from others in that area. Still much for Bowyer to work on by the sounds of it.

This is exactly why we cannot take anybody out of midfield to try and support Rhodes - we'd get destroyed. We're vulnerable enough with 5 in there.

Where do you get the five in midfield from? Dunn played off Jordan Rhodes. Of course as the home team they will get chances but I guarantee that the ratio was 2:1 in our favour for chances. That's not bad for any away side. At half time a Yeovil fan sat close to me put up three fingers and said that we should have been three up. That was a fair assessment of the first half.
Amo Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 I don't know what everyone's whining about. I bet Rochina's right-footed effort would've been less accurate than his Rabona (heh...boner).
