and bearing in mind the numbers comment, Austin's record was much better than Rhodes when you signed him!

Sorry to call you out again longsiders, but can you justify that statement? As far as I can see, by the time you signed Austin, Rhodes had a remarkably similar record at League One level (I think it's fair to discount Austin's non-league stuff, given that he was moonlighting as a bricklayer) and then battered League One. Austin's a comparable player on record but he doesn't have a much better record than Rhodes at any stage and since they've both been playing at the same level, it's arguable that Rhodes has eclipse him.

Did they? I think the 'joke' was if Rhodes is worth 8 million .... and bearing in mind the numbers comment, Austin's record was much better than Rhodes when you signed him!

They aren't 'happy' to cash in but they do seem to be sensibly pragmatic. The guy wanted to go, we desperately needed cash and but for 'whatever Hull found' we'd have made close to 4 million on him.

I heard 2 bizarre rumours today - and let me say up front I don't believe either - but always funny to share. I heard that Rhodes is going to Everton and that a deal is on the table for Ings, genuine silly money - more than you paid for Rhodes, a lot more!

Jelavic is leaving for Hull. Might be some truth in it if they put that money aside for the transfer.

Trying to think of anyone in the Everton squad that might be used in a swap deal. That Barkley might do ^_^

For the Burnley fans on here, I have seen a lot of Ashley Barnes over the past few years as Brighton are my local team. He is a very poor player, no idea how he is playing in the championship. He works hard but has no technical ability whatsoever. He is absolutely hated by the Brighton fans and was often the target of the boo boys. He does have a habit of scoring some crucial goals though.

Totally agree. Strange signing by the dingles.

  • Moderation Lead

If Barnes has a scoring ratio of circa 1 in 3, and he's a back up striker then it seems like a solid signing.

Saying that, I've never actually seen him play!!

Marrow gone to Fleetwood.

Well there aren't many players who get given a second chance. Both Marrow and Judge got their opportunities and clearly weren't up to the task (although I am surprised in Judges case). I hope he gets plenty of game time at Fleetwood because he seems a decent lad. No shame in carving out a career in the lower leagues. And that is probably his level.

People are talking about Rhodes going to Forest (absolute bollards). Perhaps we should do a deal that involves Simon Cox. Then we can pair him with Goodwillie up front.

That would have been cocos (&friends) dream strike pair ! Jesus it really could have got worse if we hadn't got the messiah Jordan in :)

Marrow gone to Fleetwood.

Has to be a positive, but I can't imagine they are paying much (if anything) towards his wage?!

Hopefully he plays and generates some interest in a permanent move away

Fleetwood quite well off last I heard. For their level at least.
