West Yorks Rover Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 He's also got a 2022 World Cup winners medal. Sounds decent. He definitely did however, score a 'wonder goal' 3/4 weeks ago in the youth cup against Blackpool apparently.

SoldierMo Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 If he ws to sign he would play on the right so where would cairney play?hmmm
West Yorks Rover Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 If he ws to sign he would play on the right so where would cairney play?hmmm Maybe L/pool will want Jason Lowe to team-up with his old mate from the u21s Jordan Henderson.
West Yorks Rover Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 BBC reporting that we have taken Will Vaulks, 20yr old defender from Falkirk on trial. Apparently a cultured full-back or centre back.
blue_n_white99 Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 People are talking about Rhodes going to Forest (absolute bollards). Perhaps we should do a deal that involves Simon Cox. Then we can pair him with Goodwillie up front. He wants to come back and prove himself, so don't say it out loud, it might never happen: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9114558/? Some people are adamant we are in talks to sign Luke young..this coming from the same lads that said hitzelberger would sign for us lol so i call lies but i thought i would post it Adam Ant hasn't had a hit in ages, why are some people still impersonating him?
hawkiiz Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Apparently odds are slashed on Rhodes to QPR for £8m. http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2014/01/14/qprs-8m-blackburn-rovers-target-has-odds-cut-on-qpr-move/? They argue Rovers need the money because of FFP, which sounds really strange to me as QPR surely must be at least (if not worse) as bad as Rovers… And £8m sounds like a joke.

The media can't get beyond the £8 million figure. If he was linked with a £10 million plus move I would start getting nervous. If QPR make it £20 million and chuck in Hoillett I would think about it
Backroom Mike E Posted January 14, 2014 Backroom Posted January 14, 2014 Childish reply. Twas only a joke!

I'm sick of seeing all these championship clubs linked with Rhodes for between 6-8 million. Bolton, Wigan, Forest, QPR etc etc.. and the reasons given are that we need to sell. Under FFP how the hell can ANY championship club afford Rhodes ? Its not just the fee its his wages as well. The only way I can see Rhodes leaving is if a PL club make a 10 million plus bid for him and that isn't going to happen in this window. IF we are that desperate to sell we would have sold him by now for a lot less than what we paid and we wouldn't have paid any money for the likes of Gestede and Cairney.
neophox Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 The owners put their money in the club as they really want promotion this season. Its bust or dust. Can't see our best players leave.
moerpho Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Must say I'm a bit surprised by the lack of activity this far into the transferwindow. I expected: - Dann gone by now - that there would be a plethora of rumors surrounding PL bids for Rhodes (10m+) and not just tales of fantasy (Forest, QPR etc) - one surprise departure - perhaps Lowe? - yet even more rumors concerning Rhodes and our impending DOOM - at least one more player to be paid to leave (Best, Etuhu etc - take your pick). - rumors of Bowyer looking at a replacment for Dann or defenders in general I'm by no means complaining as no news is good news when it comes to Rovers these days. Only thing I'd hope for is that Bowyer could sign an older (and commanding!) defender to help prevent those lapses in concetration from the back four. Stop conceding stupid goals and we have a real shot at the playoffs. As it stands I would actually be quite pleased if it is status quo come february 1st except getting rid of the Gruesome Threesome (Orr, Best, Etuhu).

What terrible journalism, you wonder how people actually make a living writing such ill informed nonsense.

Well, I've never heard of the website before, so I'm not sure if they are making any money or if it's simply a hobby, but it rubbish nonetheless.
rog of the rovers Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 I'm surely not the only one...but I'm not worried about Jordan Rhodes leaving at all. I just can't see it happening. We overpaid for Rhodes. He has been fantastic in a Rovers shirt, but for £8m he really should be. He has not scored a career goal against a Premier League team (at the time of the fixture) either at Ipswich, Huddersfield or Rovers. Any Premier Leaguer team that wants him will have to stump up c£10m. The teams that have this kind of money to throw on a gamble (and it would be a gamble) have better players in their squads already. I can't see the management/owners sanctioning a move to a division rival, particularly as the season is coming to the ''promotion push'' stage. The teams who would likely buy Rhodes are your Hull/Crystal Palace/Norwich types. All of whom are in a fight to avoid the drop, therefore hardly looking or willing to throw a massive chunk of money on a Championship player with a handful of PL games remaining. For me, Rhodes is a Rover until the summer at the earliest. If a QPR/Leicester/Forest/Wigan get promoted and come in during the summer then I think he may go, but until then I just can't see it happening.

He scores loads of goals in the premier league on FM, so I have no doubt he will do it for real!
oreilly Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 I wouldn't be surprised to see the likes of Sunderland, Cardiff, WBA (if Long leaves) tabling a 10 Million pound bid for Rhodes by the end of the month, i hope to God they wont but this lad is a class finisher and has improved year on year, lets not forget he is only 23. good article about him: http://backpagefootball.com/cross-rhodes-time-premier-league-teams-took-a-gamble/68880/

The fact we overpaid for Rhodes seems to be our ace card in keeping him. We'd now probably want around £15m for him which I dont think prem clubs will pay. If we'd have bought him for, say, £5m then 8-10m would be enough to sign him now.

pick32 Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Everyone keeps saying we overpayed for him, maybe at first people were mistaken and thought we did but his goal return since joining speaks for itself and personally I think he was worth every single penny.

I think at the time we did overpay for him. £8m for someone that was prolific in lge 1 but had never really played at a higher level on a consistent basis. Just think if he had been a dud and we were stuck with an £8m player on 40k per week! However, £8m for a striker that guarantees 25+ goals each season is a bargain. He kept us up last season and could potentially fire us to promotion this season. He'll also be sold for a big profit when he's sold. There's no way anyone could say he hasn't been value for money.
Guest Norbert Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 And to think Kean wanted Cox or someone else instead, and was dead against Rhodes' signing.
