We've got grafters. Need quality to unlock tough defences, and a good goalie. Don't need anything else.

But where is all this talk of Waghorn coming from? Lots of people talking like we have bought him for certain, yet I've seen nothing anywhere source-wise.

Oh I see there's an LT article on it now...but people seem to have been talking with certainty for a couple of days about it and this is only from today?

I was hoping the rumour that we were after young winger Jordan Ibe on loan from Liverpool was true, he'd open up a few defences,

might still happen who knows, they're all only rumours !

waghorn is a player I really like to be honest, ive seen him play a few times and all though his goal scoring record has not been up to scratch his bloody work rate is second to none, he will not give defenders time on the ball and he will hassle any player on the pitch, he has a brilliant engine and runs and runs,

I think he would do well here, if Rhodes stays then he is our goalscorer waghorn can be the battering ram, even though gestede is meant to be playing that role.

waghorn is a brilliant player on his day and still pretty young, he Is so hard working and determined he will do very well here I can see fans loving him just for his persistent pressure and work rate.

Sounds like we have replaced Savage at last!

You having a laugh K-hod ! hes only just started to get going recently and he's certainly not at the level required just yet.

How do you define 'recent'? Since about mid-November (I think) he's been playing very well for us. That's 2 months of consistently good form.

He came back in the side on the 7th of Decemeber vs QPR. Since then he's been MOM (in my opinion) in almost every game he's played. He's certainly done enough in that month to convince me he's good enough to start every week. Down to him to keep doing it consistently from now on.

After a lucrative break Fabio Nunes to go back to being a footballer?

@JamesNursey: Fábio Nunes going from Blackburn to Latina in Italy. #brfc

Footballers, particularly Blackburn Rovers footballers, are you paid exorbitant amounts of money to sit around with pretend injuries, nursing your massive egos and bank balances, with only the occasional social media outburst to remind the world of your relevance (careful there bob)? Do you too have the inability to hand in a transfer request to further your career and actually do what the one word job description "footballer" suggests you should be doing? Tell us your pride, your motivation, your rationale of being part of the beautiful game and contact us at BRFCS today with your story.

Good news about Nunes though, like others, he'd have been alright if he was any good - which he wasn't. Another player departs to some other team I've never heard of. How many more to go?

Does anybody remember Rostyn Griffiths? was at Rovers from 2003 until 2009, just signed for Perth Glory, (was playing with Yakubu last year in China) Defensive midfielder (think Bowyers missed out there ex youth player and we could do with more of those defensive midfielders :) for our promotion or bust 4-3-3-0 formation)

Hope this is true but presume it's a loan as this clubs loans almost all it's players and he won't want to drop his £30K a week to sign for a Serie B team will he? Twin town with Birkenhead don't you know.

Bowyer is picking up all the best young players that his youth teams played against or players that our backroom staff have previously worked with.

So from being a PL side which should look towards Championship players because there was plenty of talent down there, through to young Portugese U21 players with great credentials, onto League 1 player of the year who could definitely make the step up, we're now looking at the best Academy lads?

There is a clear strategy of signing cheap, young, british players. They are low risk, will prob hold their value even if they dont do well, but the ceiling is high if they blossum into good players for us. If we can drop in the occasional bit of experience its our best way forward with little cash. We will probably have to sell some on if they really do well, but thats how we clear the debt and move forward unfortunatley

Think that's harsh on Nunes, personally.

Clear the debt?

But yeah, that approach has done well so far.

Nope never said anything about academy lads. The players we have signed Bowyer knows about having played against them numerous times when he was academy manager.

The only one that doesn't fit that mould is Gestede.

He is? Let me know when he starts

Not seen Tom Cairney play? Seen Marshall improve over the last few months? Did you see Corey Evans start very well for us before injury?

It was the scenario you thought up that was ridiculous. If he is signing players based on a handful of youth games from a few years ago then he needs beating with a stocking full of wet shi.t as it would be up there with Souness and Ali Dai

Maybe Moyes is signing Mata based on seeing him in a youth game lol

Its also the best way to generate a good team spirit. Sign players of similar ages and nationalitys who will hopefully have similar interests and the guys can get on well on and off the pitch. Doesnt guarantee anything but it certainly increases the chances of a happy bunch. Despite what we think about selections/tactics/formations etc the spirit in the side does appear from the outside to be pretty damm good.

So how are Arsenal, Chelsea or Man City at the top of their league with the disharmony and poor team spirit generated by the many nationalities in their squads?

One thing having a majority of British players is they'll know when to give up ;)

  • Moderation Lead

I used to think there was some semblance of hope for Jal, but that view of Marshall he holds is just baffling

He's a winger, he works hard, he can cross with either foot, he supports his full back in defence, fair enough, his free-kicks and corners haven't always been bang on, but he was short of fitness when he signed, and looked devoid of confidence (he has had psychological difficulties in the past apparently). Funnily enough, confidence can be gained by SUPPORTING a player, when you can see he's running himself into the ground for the shirt.

Well thats the buy all the best players in the world method. Not a plan that will be concerning rovers, but Im guessing you know that

If you are referring to Marshall then you are bang on. Only the most skew eyed blue tinted spectacled fan would disagree.

He's doing OK but like a hell of a lot of our inconsistant team he's miles to go before he can be declared as money well spent.

Personally I do disagree - if he can maintain his current level of form I would be happy. However - I think there is far more to come from him - especially goal scoring (as he showed last week).

Hence I added the caveat to account for you ;)
