Neal Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Kilgallon has been very hit and miss Bound to be considering the lack of games he's given by Bowyer. He'd be a better option than Dann if played week in week out in my opinion.

patrickvalery Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Is this French lad definately a defensive midfielder? Has anyone seen him play at all? I only ask because i'm not sure where this tag has come from. Has it sprung up on some website description or are people putting 2 + 2 together becuase he's a big unit? No agenda, i'm just curious.
dingles staying down 4ever Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 sorry Parson I do not agree Kilgallon has been very hit and miss yes I agree sometimes he can be very good but other times he falls asleep like there goal today when the ball was hoofed straight down the middle Kilgallon should really have been there to put it into row z yet was caught napping and they score it also highlights the glaring fact that in central defence we have no strength in depth if as we have seen Dann is injured our back up options are nowhere near good enough and I would be very much against selling dann I agree he has his limitations but no-one can argue he has formed a very solid CB partnership with Hanley without him we are much weaker. And Dann hasn't been caught napping? Don't remember the ball being hoofed down the middle for their goal either. The ball came from their left back area and went through Williamson's legs didn't it? I may have dreamt that though. The ball from Kilgallon to Rhodes for Rovers goal was different class to the usual lump it forward from Dann. I agree though that another CB is needed before Dann is allowed to leave,

Sorry, i just checked his stats and it seems he's only played about an hours worth of first team football. So i doubt anyone has seen him play. Apologies.

arbitro Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 What happens if one of Kilgallon or Hanley gets injured or suspended? We are yet again plugging round holes with square pegs Dann should only leave WITH a replacement lined up imo Absolutely correct. It would be lunacy to let Dann go without an adequate replacement.
patrickvalery Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 So he is match fit then! He'll be blowing out of his arse collecting his bags from the carrousel.
Gav Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Why not? Because he's the captain of the side and our most consistent defender Neil. If you sell your better players you usually get nowhere. Maybe Bowyers already planning for next season though.

If you sell your better players you usually get nowhere. Maybe Bowyers already planning for next season though. Disagree about the most consistant defender but I see your point. Man U supporters used to say the same when they sold Beckham and the like but Fergie was usually right. Selling players is a lot about timing. It is one of the things managers live and die by. IMO Kilgallon can adequately replace Dann if he moves at this time. Another Centre Half is needed though.
Ricky Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 O'Connell could be seen as the other CB. Bowyer has put his faith in the youth and would have been monitoring how he's been getting on at Rochdale where he has been one of their best players.
chaddyrovers Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Rovers have been linked with Palace centre back Paddy McCarthy whether on loan or as part of the Dann deal if he goes to Palace. in Today's Sunday People. Pulis is rumour to be very unhappy with Palace owners for not be allowed to sign players with experience and is set to quit at end of the season. 3 or 4 national newspapers have reported this today. I can see Palace owners letting Pulis sign Dann and couple more players to keep him happy. I can see us trying to sign him on loan if he goes to Norwich. McCarthy is 30 years old and would give us a lot of experience there. would be a good replacement for Dann.

Ricky, I would have thought if that was the case Rovers wouldn't have extended his loan for the remainder of the season.
47er Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 I thought I'd read that the embargo doesn't come in until Jan 2015, but I could be wrong ! Thought I'd read Shelfie say we would be faced with an embargo at the start of next season?
Neal Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Because he's the captain of the side and our most consistent defender Neil. If you sell your better players you usually get nowhere. Maybe Bowyers already planning for next season though. There's only 2 reasons why Dann is captain & that's because he's got more experience than the others and the fact he cost us a bomb... Does that make him any good? No. Hanley is streets ahead of him and personally I think Dann is holding back Hanleys' development. I'll agree that he's consistent though... Just not in the same way. Dann could be adequately replaced with half the money we get from his sale I recon. It's all a matter of opinion of course but sell, sell, sell for me. It's Neal by the way fella.
Leonard Venkhater Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Could one of the youngsters with the Irish names be the back up, or are they not ready yet? You make us sound like Dear Old Donnegal! Meet Branigan, Fannigan, Milligan, Gilligan, Duffy, McCuffy, Malachy, Mahone, Rafferty, Lafferty, Donnelly, Connelly, Dooley, O'Hooley, Muldowney, Malone, Madigan, Cadigan, Lanihan, Flanihan, Fagan, O'Hagan, O'Hoolihan, Flynn, Shanihan, Manihan, Fogarty, Hogarty, Kelly, O'Kelly, McGuinness, McGuinn.

Kilgallon has not put a foot wrong whenever i have seen him, including yesterday, was MOTM for me. And their goal was not a hoof down the middle either, built up down the left and Williamsom messed up with a fresh air kick that caught everyone out of position.
chaddyrovers Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Thought I'd read Shelfie say we would be faced with an embargo at the start of next season?the transfer embargo would NOT come in till January 2015.I think Rovers will challenge the FFP rules through the courts. Expect 4 or 5 clubs to join us in the legal challenge if they is one.
John Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Few Palace fans suggesting Dann initially asked for £50k a week, surely not!
broadsword Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Feels amazing to have Bradley Orr out of the club, possibly for good. Operation Scumcleanse continues.

Expect 4 or 5 clubs to join us in the legal challenge if they is one. Rovers don't have a great success rate in the courts of late. I wonder what they'll come up with this time. "Deggsie told us FFP stood for Fritter Finances Periodically. Its not our fault. He's gone rogue. Like Jason Bourne. But with shelving and general office paraphernalia"
Backroom Tom Posted January 26, 2014 Backroom Posted January 26, 2014 McCarthy is 30 years old and would give us a lot of experience there. would be a good replacement for Dann. Would he? Are you saying that with any real knowledge of him or saying it because we are linked?

For a 30 year old who has been around for about 12 years, he doesn't seem to be that experienced when I looked him up. Only about 270 appearances, and I don't know how many of those are as a sub.

Expect 4 or 5 clubs to join us in the legal challenge if they is one. Well then, if that's the case why have you used FFP to justify every signing on the cheap, every cut-back in expenditure for months? Shelfie was quoted as saying we were certain to face a transfer embargo next season so perhaps he's got it wrong and Venkys should have spent big at the start of the season to get us promotion? You have consistently argued they couldn't cos of FFP coming in.
