i would of preferred fryatt from hull tbh and they want rid plus we have done business with hull for cairney so might have a good relationship with them.

I bought dabo for my Scunthorpe fifa team today to see what his stats are, he is 65 overall and he is 23 right now so not looking good is it (jokes obvs but some people slating him before he has even kicked a ball for us)

and Conway I feel is just a direct replacement for marshall and one we would not of gone for if marshall didn't get injured

Varney, Conway and Dabo coming in apparently and a replacement for Dann if he goes. My view:

Conway - good

Varney - ok/poor

Dabo - unknown

That trio doesnt inspire would have expected players like these to sign for Preston north end instead of Rovers sad times.

Rovers need a leader in that centre of the pitch.

dabo is very vocal and apparently very very competitive, could be the leader you want in the middle maybe, but I do agree we need a midfielder that would grab the game by the scruff of its neck and also demand more from the players around him.

Is Luke Varney definate or just a link?

link as of now I think mate, we have been linked to a few people on twitter though and nothing has come of them so keep your eye out if this develops, oh and you might have to change your name :P

Looking at how Fryatt played at the weekend, I'd much rather see him coming in. Good player.

agree with you mate I think he would be a perfect little player for rovers, we was linked with him and I think we should really try for him, brill championship player

Bringing Varney in as a third choice 'back up' to Rhodes and Gestede to replace DJ Campbell is certainly no disappointment to me. If we were bringing him in as a first choice striker I would be worried, but as a loan to be used as and when needed between now and the end of the season we could do worse. He knows this level inside out and shouldn't take time to adjust or adapt. I would have preferred Fryatt or Waghorn, but it seems Fryatt is a man in demand and would probably want a permanent move to a team where he will get to start every week, which I don't think Rovers will be offering. Fair enough. It makes sense to only bring in loans now given the number of players we have currently out on loan who will be returning to us at the end of the season.

I know nothing about Dabo, never heard of him, and it seems like a strange signing in the one area that we don't seem to be short on numbers, but again, a young, by all accounts promising player on loan until the end of the season, what's the worst that could happen.

Craig Conway is one I would be very happy with as a replacement for Marshall. A proven performer at this level with Cardiff and Brighton and might have something of a relationship with Gestede from their time at Cardiff.

The Dann situation concerns me a little. We've already announced he isn't in the squad again tomorrow, which is explained as an injury but with Norwich and Palace hovering it can't be a coincidence. After Kilgallon's performance on Saturday I think it's clear that Dann going wouldn't damage us too much (if at all), but we HAVE to get someone else in as cover for Hanley and Kilgallon. I always think Hanley is on the brink of getting himself sent off again, and Kilgallon's career injury record is disastrous. We CANNOT go into these last 19 'make or break' games with only two recognised centre halves. Lets hope some of the Dann money gets spent on an adequate replacement. Craig Dawson for me, or failing that Mark Hudson from Cardiff.

I agree about Varney. I can just about accept him signing as a 3rd choice back up. From what I've seen on tv, he looks like he runs around a lot and gives 100% but is very low on quality. Could be a decent impact sub who will run around and unsettle defenders. Lets face it, can't be any worse than DJ who didn't score a single league goal or ever get out of walking pace!

Dabo seems lost risk with a decent pedigree. Could do well or could quite easily flop.

Conway will do well here and is a very good replacement for Marshall. Crossing ability is very good.

Get rid of Best on loan, sell dann and bring in Dawson and that's a very good window.

Nail on head JAL.

When it was getting late in the Derby game I wanted just one of them to give it the fist pump to their team mates and make a solid tackle or lung bursting run out of defence to lift the crowd and their colleagues.

Unfortunately they both physically retreated and metaphorically shrunk.

What's betting he's "The Next Vieira"?

Talking of that I thought N'Zonzi played very well against Chelsea yesterday.

Yet Dunny was left on the bench.

We've shifted DJ on loan, have got rid of a couple of the portugeezers permanently, and there is interest in Best. Plus, we've snapped up Cairney for a bargain price and Gestede looks a bargain as well. We've also (so far) kept hold of Rhodes. I think those things alone make it a pretty decent window.

easy isnt it

I know, I don't know what they're waiting for! In all seriousness, if we could shift Best then that alone makes it a successful window.
