thenodrog Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Pointing out the obvious but it's proving to be GB's Achilles heel. You just know that next weekend at home to Derby it will be Williamson and Lowe in CM once more. Lowe is some way in front of Williamson and playing Williamson means that we are leaving better midfielders on the bench.
den Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 In all seriousness it seems a shocking move to bring Gestede off for Rhodes when chasing the game, I can only imagine Rhodes came on and was isolated he should have been brought on with Gestede there to help him Another game we start in a defensive style and concede a lot yet when we attack we concede less It seems the obvious is being missed for some bizarre reason He doesn't seem able to change a game for the better.
matt83 Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 We never win 3 league games in a row. I'd love to know when we've last done it. Must be absolute yonks. We were talking about that the other day and @#/? knows how he knew but mate reckoned it was 2007/08 beating Bolton in 3rd. Cup loss in between though
bluefred Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 what a load of @#/? forrest aint that good we are just @#/?
thenodrog Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Other way round Gordon. Lowe should be a valuable squad member to fill in if needed but not an automatic starter imo. Surely you dont rate Williamson above Lowe?
McClarky Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Only saw the 2nd half but seemed to me we played well but the final ball was poor, we never really created anything while they had 3 or 4 chances. the 2 goals both came from giving Reid, the most creative player on the pitch, far too much room in our half. With all those midfielders out there you would think someone would pick him up but there you go, that's why we are where we are I suppose.
rhodie Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Poor poor play from the off, the players just didn`t look up for it, no closing down, no energy they looked half arsed to be there. mind you the ref was crap as well, the first pen was ridiculous.
Majiball Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Williamson was injured. His hand was forced. The other was on 60, Rhodes, which is earlier than his norm, just a pity he didn't change it. He even made three with Dunn getting 15. You've got to take the positives!!!!
Backroom DE. Posted January 18, 2014 Backroom Posted January 18, 2014 On the positive side with our loss in mind, results could hardly have gone better for us today. Still only 4 points off 6th.
West Yorks Rover Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Forest's biggest league win of the season. Ah well we move on to Derby at home - the best away team in the division. 3 DM'S anyone ?
RevidgeBlue Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 I'd be astounded if anyone didn't Gordon. Former Premiership player, albeit lacking a bit of pace now against a converted full back without the faintest idea of how to play in midfield.
adsfortheblues Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Sorry but bowyers inconsistent formations and selections are horrendous and costing us points. What the hell is up with him. Players out of position, better players on the bench than in the starting 11 etc @#/? etc. Inconsistent formation and selection gets you nowhere. RUBBISH. Bowyer needs to take some blame for defeats like this, anyone who is a bowyer lover then get a grip. I by no means dislike him or think he's a disaster but some of his decisions baffle me.
darrenrover Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 The simple fact is that playing 2 DM doesn't work, we sit far too deep and invite the opposition onto us. I cannot understand Bowyer's logic of persevering with it as neither player can pick a forward pass either. So frustrating.
Shabani Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Bowyer can't be blamed for a lot of today's perfomance The brainless defending of Henley and Hanley left us with a lot to do today.
LDRover Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Lowe is some way in front of Williamson and playing Williamson means that we are leaving better midfielders on the bench. In your opinion drog. IMO the only attribute Lowe is better than LW at is workrate. In fact it's the only fundamental attribute he is above mediocre at. We can't afford to carry players whose only positive contribution is that they can run.
adsfortheblues Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 On the positive side with our loss in mind, results could hardly have gone better for us today. Still only 4 points off 6th. However 7 off 5th, with derby next, meaning a strong possibility of being 10 of 5th next week and seven off 6th, and that 6th team being reading, who have really picked up recently. It's to big an ask now, we can't compete with the top 6, haven't been able to all season or last.
Amo Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 The simple fact is that playing 2 DM doesn't work, we sit far too deep and invite the opposition onto us. I cannot understand Bowyer's logic of persevering with it as neither player can pick a forward pass either. So frustrating. I'm sure Parson or DMTP will be on hand to remind us this is Bowyer's brainchild, he works with the players everday, and therefore is infallible.
Husky Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Come on keano's let's cheer ourselves up. All the teams from 6th-14th place aren't exactly consistenly brilliant and at this stage of the season I reckon all of them still have a chance and wouldn't like to guess which one (or more) might make the play-offs.
G Somerset Rover Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 The other was on 60, Rhodes, which is earlier than his norm, just a pity he didn't change it. He even made three with Dunn getting 15. You've got to take the positives!!!! I admire your optimism Maj but the 60th minute change was still a striker for a striker - when we needed a goal.GB really doesn't help himself sometimes. You'd have to say that some of his selections and substitutions are bizarre.
bluefred Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 I think everyones getting carried away LEEDS AWAY was the peek of our season get real we are going to finnish mid table tops. to much to fix for this season.
Majiball Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Can't blame Eastwoord for any of the goals though. He did okay, apart from that he possibly should have saved both penalties I'd didn't see the first goal. But on the second Eastwood moves on the lads 2nd step, he's gone and down. The last one, he goes down but doesn't extend his arms, he may or may not get it but he goes down poorly. Eastwood is pants, shouldn't have played Robbo midweek, too much to soon if it happened after 20, same old @#/? as this is far from the first time we've rushed a player back too much.
adsfortheblues Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Bowyer can't be blamed for a lot of today's perfomance The brainless defending of Henley and Hanley left us with a lot to do today. You are right in that aspect of the game, however that was pressure, leading to goals, was brought on by playing them 2 idiots in the centre of midfield and our attacking threat being significantly reduced due to selection and formation.
Mike Graham Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 I worry to think where our Club will be (financially) at the end of this season.....well and truly in the mire. This was the season when promotion was essential for a hope of survival.
