I am not surprised that people having a pop at Williamson - I thought he was awful today. However - IMO Lowe largely did a good job of his defensive midfield role - indeed it was often Lowe tracking back that stopped Derby attacks.

It is amazing the difference that moving Cairney into a more central position made to the team going forward. At some point Bowyer must realise that we have to start going for it - todays draw is acceptable as Derby are on such a good run - but we have to beat teams like Barnsley and Blackpool with far more positive performances.

Having said all that - and a draw was overall a fair result - IF Cairney had have struck the ball (rather than thin air) & IF the referee hadn't played the most baffling of advantages when Kane was through - we would now be talking about a hard fought win,

This season was always about consolidation, anything better than that will be seen as a bonus.

We're a mid table championship side that will be looking to possibly push on next season and make the playoffs.

The sooner people get used to that the better.

And they wonder why the attendances are so poor at Ewood, well, plenty will have seen enough of the negative

tactics already this season.

Before you get carried away with negative tactics just rem the positive ones that Steve Kean convinced the venkymob they needed.

That's the thing though, Hasta, we are not a top 6 side so a draw against Derby is a decent result. We are a few players short of being top 6. Are Lowe, Taylor and Willaimson top 6? No. They are good squad players but not regular starters.

If we had our full team out I'd say we are top 6: Evans, Cairney, Marshall, King, Dabo (?) are top 6 midfield calibre.

We will never make the top 6 with negative tactics, especially at home

I'm afraid that you're bang on there Stuart. An acquaintance of mine spoke to Bowyer recently and Bowyer actually told him that Lowe is the first name on his team sheet.

Well if he said that, maybe we need a new manager, because anyone who would have ' Lowey ' as first name on the sheet

needs his ' bumps felt ' !

Derby were no great shakes admittedly better than we were in the 2nd half ....

attack in this league and you will be rewarded , this negative crap that is served up at Ewood will end up with us being in mid table ....

Can someone explain why both teams were greeted with youngsters wearing claret & blue tops?

Just read GB happy with point against "fantasic" team. Sorry GB but I'm not.

Hull got automatic promotion last season by being solid and by winning a lot of games by 1 goal.

One word to sum up the game; Acceptable.

Could have got away with a 1 niller and everything would have been hunky dory. Reminded me of the Doncaster game really - but Derby had much more class and so managed to get their equaliser and then were trying to push on for a win, which they could easily have got. A draw was probably a fair result.

Seemed to all go tits up after Gestede was subbed. He wins a lot in the air - some good flicks - most of them seemd to be wasted though. I can't help thinking he'd be better playing with a striker with some pace - Rhodes is a finisher - not really one to latch on to flick on with pace. Or perhaps an attacking midfielder playing in the hole. Rochinaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, lol.

I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but (goal aside) the first 10 mnutes of the second half just seemed like a Paul Robinson kicking exercise.

Our set pieces are awful too - extra training ground practice needed.

What else can i say, it was just the "usual" home performace I guess (far from great). Nothing much in it and an aceptable result against a team above us in the league. Need to win the next 2 games though (don't we always, lol). I think most of us would probably have accepted 7 points from 9.

It's hard to see how things can change unless we make a magic signing in the transfer window. Any news on Ben Marshall; he was down for a while.

.Yes. There is a definite pattern now in home games. I actually thought we tired in the 2nd half. Derby seemed better all over the pitch, although some of our defending in and around the box was excellent. How I wish we could mind the ball like they did. All too often, we give it straight back to teams. Soooo frustrated!!

........ but it's plain to see, Bowyer bottles it and threw away 3 points. He should have taken off Taylor and either brought on Dunn, or brought on Kane and moved Cairney inside. Bringing off the bloke who was winning the headers and holding the ball up for a poor defender was always going to invite pressure, I just didn't expect it to be after 1 minute.

Nope he should have stuck Taylor on the right to help stop Henley getting skinned, Cairney on the left and Dunn in the middle to put his foot on the ball. The man to give way should have been your favourite Jordan Rhodes. Sure he set Gestede up magificently as he did against Donny but apart from that he's currently bringing nothing else to the party.

Derby are a good solid team but we made em look better than they actually are.

its not consoladation tho pal ,if rumours are true its @#/? or bust and the negative tactics means bust, Imagine the venkys letting us have 75 quid tickets . Never gonna happen. That ref today was diabolicle. The refs are brought form the postal order i think

We took Gestede off (a forward) and lost 2 points

It couldn't be more frustrating to see Bowyer keep making the same selection, substitution and tactical errors, knowing they cost, and keep costing us points.

Don't remember Evans being all that attacking. Why not Evans and Cairney?

Probably too much of the game left for Dunn. I'm not sure you should ever plan to sub a sub in advance.

Evans likes to get forward whereas I think GB wants one CM to just sit and screen the back four. Dabo could well be that player and must be decent if he's a France u21 international. In saying that, Lowe was England u21 captain!

Jesus.

When he was scoring goals he wasn't doing enough

Now he is setting up goals he still isn't doing enough

How about you blame some of the dross we are currently sending out in this first XI instead of Rhodes?

And you really think Bowyer is going to drop Lowe, for any of these ?

Lowe and Williamson wouldn't get into Barnsley's team ! that is the reason we struggle in almost every game

even when we win.

3/4th division players at best.

I thought Lowe did pretty well today, didn't you WYR?

Thats what was needed somebody to put their foot on the ball !

But we conceded when we went 4-5-1?

Wre you at the game?

Didn't you once reckon to be an expert in the LT? If so you've yet to convince me LT.

Very strange that Bowyer's tactics are so negative, yet he sounds more and more like Kean after each game.

Goals and assists just aren't enough, eh.
