Not exactly the first incident of its kind is it? Seems a 'no-go' area these days.

Bunkum.

I used to visit the park at least twice a month when I was living in the area, never had an issue, ever!

At the bottom of the article you'll see a scumbag thats been jailed for a disgusting attack on a woman, do we avoid Infirmary Street also?

Bit of perspective required K-Hod.

To be fair, GAV, you've never had an issue, because I assume you've never been a 15-year old girl.

But I agree that it's bunkum to avoid areas because of one crime, primarily because I like the word bunkum and wanted to use it in a sentence of my own. Bunkum.

The only reason I mentioned a potential 'no-go area' as I've seen a few attacks reported in there in the last few months!! I wasn't being literal....

As for Infirmary Street, I won't be avoiding it, I usually park up there for home games! :tu:

Corporation park has always been a place thats attracted the scummiest elements of blackburn(of all skin colours) in my lifetime, dealers, junkies, alcys, perverts, general knobheads just looking for trouble, etc... The place atracts them all.

Absolute bunkum.

Its no better or worse than any other park in the region.

When did you last go to Corporation park? because for you and TJ to come to that conclusion you must be regulars?

I drove past last Tuesday as it happens, looking at the people standing at the entrance on West Park Road was enough to put me off going in.

Queens park used to be the best park in Blackburn, especially when the boating lake was used.

I also used to go in Corporation Park a lot when I lived near by, it has gone downhill considerably and if you are white expect hassle !

and for once i agree with everything yoda says above!

I have very fond memories of spending my summer days in queens park in the 80s, catching sticklebacks and even swimming in that filthy lake whilst 100s of other people and families sun bathed around the banks of the lake when it was especially hot.

As I thought you've both never been in the park for years, it's often a prerequisite of this site to talk with great authority about something you know nowt about.

I've been going for 40yrs, it's a great park, as is Queens Park and Roe Lee Park, been many times over the years and never had an issue.

Was in Preston last week, I love Avenham Park, great setting next to the river but we digress.

Sunnyhurst, Bold Venture, park geek obviously me LoL

roe lee park is a nice little park(due to the excellent work done by the local councillors and residents working to keep it that way) queens park is pretty dead, yes it has been a while since i ventured around corporation park but i do drive around its perimeter and main gates very regularly and only ever see dead beats hanging around, add to that the weekly new stories of violent and other criminal incidents in the park and that's enough to put me off bothering to visit, witton park and pleasington are great, you do still get some idiots there also but they are far outnumbered by good folk.

Not been corporation park for a couple years now, took the little boy and half the playground stuff was missing and there were rats scuttling around the bins.

In contrast Witton Park is still nice, the wooden play area is great for the kids.

We favour Worden Park at Leyland or purely for a playground the one next to the swimming baths at Bamber Bridge, Withy Grove I think it's called.

Being a Rishtoner Cut Wood was always my haunt as a boy and it still holds up well these days.

Do you want the exact date ?

Unknown to you with your blinkers on, I actually come to Blackburn every Tuesday and visit different areas in the town.

Now that you no longer live in Blackburn it will be interesting how you look at the place when you have been away for a while,

Travel is a great educational experience, hope it works for you too

Going to Bburn is one thing, going to the park is another, and we both know you can count on one hand the amount of times you've been in the park in recent times. So you can't qualify your comments that 'if you're white expect trouble' and 'It's gone downhill considerably'

I've travelled plenty by the way.

I'm not going to argue with you further, I fancy a complementary T'singtoa when I visit, don't want to compromise that!

It's Tsing Tao, pronounced chin dow,

Try two hands and you would be nearer the mark.

seriously how many green eyed asian men matching that description can there be in the area, surely somebody has read the LT article recognises this scummy nonce, but we all know how the asian community likes to protect their own even when the person is suspected of such serious crimes as this.

How impressive is the new cathedral quarter or boulevard development?

Walked through today from the train station and must say it's mighty impressive and moving the bus station seems to have worked aswell even though it's still under development. Just hope it's all going to be maintained to the same high standard from now on.

The hotel is busy as well, just what Blackburn centre should have had years ago.

The new bus station has a chance of being finished now the same company as the rest of the development has taken it over

Not seen it yet tbh. Just need some night time entertainment to necessitate an overnight stay then we're golden!

(Disclaimer, not talking about the night time entertainment up Bank Top, nice restaurants/pubs/bars etc)
