Better support the Bay then or you'll be joining me for the cheaper beer in the Village Club. ^_^

I don't think the Bay needs any support mate, it's absolutely heaving all the time! (Though I do nip in from time to time). I saw on the Village Club's Facebook they were doing drinks offers for the Euros, I suspect I can be tempted over the road!

Have you been in recently. It's all been refurbished, particularly the upstairs and the cellar expertly by one of the members. My son and especially his wife help to run it for free and it deserves patronage. Where else can you get two pints and change from a fiver. The Bay is just too noisy for me. I like to hear the conversation thank you very much.

Yeah, I've always liked it as a boozer tbh, it's just difficult to convince my pals to go in there as they know a lot of folk that regularly drink in the Bay Horse so that always wins out! My folks like it, but they live closer to the Alma and the Vic (which my Dad has always liked a lot).

you can get 6 pints(of reasonable quality lager) for a fiver in most supermarkets, which is one of the reasons local pubs just don't have much general appeal anymore

If you want to sit at home and drink. The whole pub and club scene is about socialising.

I concur! It's about getting out, I'd much rather drink out than at home. (Unless it's an occasion i.e. a BBQ).

i think social media has largely taken over that aspect

Do You? I find that a strange opinion. I feel no compunction to get a beer and my laptop out at the same time.

Sorry i didnt realise that alcohol had to be included on evety social communication you male in life.

Apologies but I was under the impression we were discussing beer prices in Pubs and Clubs. Please let me know when you change the subject.

I assume "male" is a Freudian slip. :glare:

Meeting an old mate and having a ruby and a night in Blackburn town centre next Sat for the first time in about ten years. Not expecting much but what is the pub circuit these days, is there even one ? Anywhere open late or is it a night sat in the Postal Order ?

I honestly think you'd be better off going to Darwen mate, there's hardly anything open at all!

I would but this lad lives in Darwen and he wants to go to Blackburn lol, he doesn't get out much ! Besides Bburn is the easiest meeting point for some others.

The last time I had a drink in Blackburn (besides near to Ewood), I went to see The Courteeners at KGH and went to the Blackburn Times (FJ Nicholls), there didn't seem to be too much else open tbh. Barzooka possibly still is though...

Is Blakeys still going in the KGH ?

Yes, if you like blue rinse

I think we better start in there then, don't want to be ending up there with beer goggles on

I thought Blakey's only opened at dinnertimes now?

I suppose if you go to Molloy's and then Blackburn Times (FJs) you have a pub crawl of sorts

But like K-Hod says you'd be best going elsewhere.

To think back say a dozen years to now, tragic what's happened to the Blackburn nightlife.

Yet by and large the locals sit back and let it happen, no one does anything about it. Reminds me of something else ......... :(
