Willie Eckerslike Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Anything can happen in windy and wet conditions like today, so I'll take the three points and move on without too much over-analysis on the style of play First game for a while that I can't remember even one Tommy Spurr long throw

Hasta Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Good 3 points today with everyone putting a shift in through atrocious conditions. Blackpool were poor. I felt we needed 7 points from the last 3 games. We are unbeaten and got 5. Unfortunately the results/performances sum up this season exactly - decent but just fell short. We may only be 5 points off the play offs but there's too many teams in contention, including 2 below us with 2 games in hand, for me to have much hope we can be consistent enough.
rovers11 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Bit of a nothing day for Rovers today. Blackpool are so bad that it is difficult to take too much out of a convincing victory. We just had to be professional to win and that's what we were. We didn't make up any ground on the top 6 and Blackpool rolled over to make it an easy win so can't really take too much from today.
Jock Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Just been on the Blackpool forum ' Back Henry Street '. Their hatred of the Oystons is growing by the day and I don't blame them. But we didn't get much support from other teams supporters when we had Kean all over our club. I do want to see Homesick Boy mess up his first go at management though.
JAL Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Absolutely nothing to take from today except Rovers or a better team would have have won by far more than just the two goals.... simple as that. Positives were Robinson in goal and Dunn in midfield. Negatives were :- Kanes first half crossing very poor. Jordan Rhodes anticipation of Gestedes flick on's very poor. Taylor and Cairney in the middle just not as smart as Dunny. Gary Bowyer failing to bring on Mahoney instead of Olsson for King.
FGS5635 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 One other negative - The stupid thing with the mobile phone lights. Not sure what thats all about but its embarrassing
perthblue02 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Someone told me ketchup was thrown all over the stairs in JW – a disappointed tangerine? Or a happy nob-ender seeing their rivals defeated? Was he wearing a bad Jumper and handing out leaflets for shelfing?
JAL Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 One other negative - The stupid thing with the mobile phone lights. Not sure what thats all about but its embarrassing Yes whats all that about ?
gumboots Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 I thought it was cos it looked pretty cool on the televised match when the lights went. It's harmless unlike those blooming dangerous flares among the away fans
JAL Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 I thought it was cos it looked pretty cool on the televised match when the lights went. It's harmless unlike those blooming dangerous flares among the away fans Suppose those seaside supporters needed to entertain themselves as their team definitely wasnt doing it today. What a long way to come in such poor weather on a donkey for the seasiders. Lets hope they are all back safely now!
Guest Norbert Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 We won 2-0. Good enough result. Move on and stop whining.
bazza Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Poor game of football today. At least we got three points from a very poor Blackpool side. My MOM was Jason Lowe. I thought he played far better than I have ever seen. Someone said it was because he didn't have Dann shouting at him all the time. Maybe; maybe not. Kane was an improvement on a hesitant Henley. Kilgallon is such a cool customer. I like him. Dunny was his usual creative self. We seem to have the basics of a good team but don't seem to co-ordinate properly yet. It will come.
Bucksrover Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 I thought it was cos it looked pretty cool on the televised match when the lights went. It's harmless unlike those blooming dangerous flares among the away fans It is quite novel at first - I don't think anyone would mind if it went on for just a minute. It goes on for a while.
Backroom Mike E Posted February 1, 2014 Backroom Posted February 1, 2014 Major thing for me with Killa is that he doesn't lump it like Dann. His long balls look like they're actually aimed up the pitch to one of the strikers (usually Rudy) and I suspect it's a big reason Rudy can flick-on so well. Certainly today he won every ball that he could imo! Killa's passing also highlighted in that goal last week vs Derby. Tremendous pass to Rhodes.
Butty Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Good win today in poor conditions! Thought blackpool played worse than any team that has come to Ewood. Things really not good for them at the moment. Heard Chants of "We want Oyston out" from them today. Also, what is with the flashing lights in the stands at the moment, looks stupid if you ask me especially when there's not enough people that do it too make it look any good. Is there a reason for it I'm unaware of?.... Just seen earlier comments and agree it's a lot more harmless than letting off bloody flares!
Backroom Tom Posted February 1, 2014 Backroom Posted February 1, 2014 Jordan Rhodes anticipation of Gestedes flick on's very poor. . This is an annoyance to me, Gestedes flick ons are a dream for a goal scorer yet Rhodes isn't getting on the end of them However lets be fair and say Rhodes hasn't had any help at all up front for 18 months now so it will take time to gel into a different system, there's signs of a real partnership there let's hope they kick on and really gel
tomphil Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 What an absolute sh!te game of football. Thank goodness for the 3 points, but the level of decent entertaining football must be approaching 2/10. If we carry on like this we will be lucky to average 10,000 next season. Agreed, Lowe was my MOTM today. Awful rank conditions to be fair. Don't know how many you get to but today was pretty standard stuff for this season.
Bucksrover Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Rhodes wasn't quite on it today. But Dunny stepped up - Dunn really is the only player who loves the ball at his feet. If only he could coach josh king to do the same with his pace! Anyone know how bad henley and king's injuries are?
brfcs5359 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Thought Blackpool were poorish. Brum and Millwall worse. Surprised at attacking line up. As said, narrow formation with fullbacks overlapping. We had plenty of forward options. Kane MOM. Tho Kilgallon was excellent. JayLo had his best game I've seen in blue shirt. Dunn excellent and most of the good stuff went through Cairney. Spurr got caught couple of times, Rhodes wasnt firing. Gestede was average, Taylor a poorish game. All in all a lot of positives. For such an attacking line up a clean sheet! Bowyer has been fantastic in the transfer market. His weakness is his negativity which wasnt there today.
jim mk2 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Lowe had a fine game today which must be a disappointment to a lot of people. He is improving all the time and the criticism he gets is unjustified. Blackpool were possibly the worst team to visit Ewood but we beat them and you cannot ask for more. We're 5 points off 6th place which is a big gap and will take alot of effort and luck to make up. The odds are against us doing it but there are still plenty of points to play for. Looking forward to the next game.

Looking forward to the next game. He was doin ok v Derby till Willo came on then he just stood deep in line with him. Also he's a battler and in rough conditions against a turgid team he did quite well today.
Bucksrover Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 I hope with today's result, Dabo coming in and evans coming back we have seen the last of the lowe / Williamson partnership. But 'hope' is the word rather than expect.
SoldierMo Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Its funny because whenever one plays without the other they seem to have a good game...when lowe was suspended willo had a brill game against leeds because he had cairney to pass to today it was lowe who had a brilliant game...makes you wonder
Brfcrule1 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 One other negative - The stupid thing with the mobile phone lights. Not sure what thats all about but its embarrassing I believe it is what other fans do when the floodlights have failed but seeing as though the floodlights at ewood never failed it seems rather pointless. I thought it was cos it looked pretty cool on the televised match when the lights went. It's harmless unlike those blooming dangerous flares among the away fans Completely agree gumboots hooligans those lot lighting flares the bloke sat next to me in the BBE couldn't believe their stupidity disgraceful behaviour from the donkey lashers. I thought today we did very well it was a shame I did not manage to catch up with my good friends Mike & Tom M.
Steve Kean's Hypnotoad Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Not at all convincing but you can only beat whats in front of you as the old saying goes. And Dunn proved again that when fit he's head and shoulders above the rest of our squad. The flares made me laugh. Can imagine what was going through their minds: "We'll set them off when we know we've won." "We'll set them off when we equalise" "We'll set them off when we score a goal" "Oh sod it, we're rubbish, lets just set them off"
