thenodrog Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Imo Bothroyd is a better striker than Leon Best by a fair way, as said same crap attitude and often lazy on the pitch but he could finish. Proved himself at Championship level but didn't have the injuries of Best of course..... or the girth.

LDRover Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 .... or the girth. Blimey, I didn't realise you knew the pair of them that well...
patrickvalery Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Blimey, I didn't realise you knew the pair of them that well... Well, he did allegedly whip it out in the center circle at Brockhall.
chaddyrovers Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 According to Alan Nixon and Today's Sunday People that Bowyer WONT be offering Lucas Neill a contract for us.
chaddyrovers Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Pleased that Bowyer wont be signing Neill. I just dont feel that Neill would be good enough. if he cant get a team in the A-League then doubt he would be good enough. nothing wrong with having a look at Neill but right decision if the story is correct.

It's more likely that Lucash won't play for less than ££££ a week so off he'll probably trot to some far flung climate for a big contract. Despite his love of Rovers and the area Maybe coco will be on the phone !

ABBEY Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Pleased that Bowyer wont be signing Neill. . Why do you hang on everything Nixon ?What happens if we sign him ? I know the chaddy spin will say what a good signing .

Abbey, Firstly All Ive done it posted something that was in the national Press. That is all. Secondly, I wasnt in favour of Neill signing. was NEVER a fan of Neill during his first spell here. I was very Happy when we got rid of him. Hughes did great business selling Neill and Buying Warnock from Liverpool.

Despite his love of Rovers and the area Maybe coco will be on the phone !I'd be looking at signing him if I was Sean Dyche. Age and his experience will be invaluable psychologically if they are not to falter when the pressure mounts. Secondly, I wasnt in favour of Neill signing. was NEVER a fan of Neill during his first spell here. I was very Happy when we got rid of him. The Rover of Finland Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Fair enough. Bowyer had a look and wasn't impressed.
Bucksrover Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Best out, Lucas not signing. Another good lot of transfer business
SoldierMo Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Following on GB transfer policy he likes to sign players from teams that have been promoted....looking at teams getting promoted this season most of them will have to invest and I wonder which leftovers GB will attempt to sign from them by all means i dont think its the worst transfer policy hes following
Baz Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 So, any centre half due in for Saturdays game, or we winging it on Lowe /Corry Evans doing a job?
chaddyrovers Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 So, any centre half due in for Saturdays game, or we winging it on Lowe /Corry Evans doing a job? no need unless Hanley or Kilgallon got an injury tbh it seems be. Spurr can play there.
Baz Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 no need unless Hanley or Kilgallon got an injury tbh it seems be. Spurr can play there. Personally Id have thought its a pretty big priority. Defences need to train together to work as a unit. I see a centre-half as a specialist position, not one where some-one can "do a job" (other than for a few minutes). Got Varney in as soon as we could, had Neill on trial for weeks, other centre halves out on loan. Its not as though Kilgannon has never had an injury or Hanley had a suspension is it? We seem to have some daft priorities at times.
Backroom Tom Posted February 20, 2014 Author Backroom Posted February 20, 2014 It's daft not bringing in someone that can play there we currently have 2 senior centre halves and one of them is injury prone and the other one only ever a brainfart away from a red card
arbitro Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 no need unless Hanley or Kilgallon got an injury tbh it seems be. Spurr can play there. The centre half issue angers and frustrates me. We have had three weeks to bring somebody in or bring one of the loanees back. Instead it looks like Bowyer will use Lowe again should the need arise. If Spurr can play there why has Bowyer used Lowe twice this season ahead of him? Once again it brings Bowyer's capabilities into question.
Parsonblue Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Personally, I don't see the point of bringing people in at this stage. We are safe from relegation and unlikely to reach the play-offs. With the main aim of this season being to reduce the wage bill and stabilise in the Championship then it seems silly to waste another wage for someone to sit on the bench. If Kilgallon or Hanley were injured or suspended then simply bring O'Songo back to play out the remaining games. In any event we are only likely to attract a youngster who is playing reserve football to come and sit on the bench and play for our own reserves. Under those circumstances you might as well have Edwards, as poor as he is, sitting on the bench.
den Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Stabilise into the championship Parson? We should be doing everything we can to get out of it. Whatever's gone on in the past is gone. Dyche didn't want Burnley to stabilise, did he. Can't we be a bit more ambitious than that? This is now two seasons in this poor league, how many more before we start trying to get out of it? Next season then - maybe?

Next season then - maybe? Imo any ambition the club has at present is simply to survive. The financial maelstrom that is about to hit will make the clubs position in any Div a secondary issue. Common sense tells us that we must be in a sh1t or bust situation. We aren't out of the play off race yet but we must go all out for wins from here on in. A single season in the Prem under parsimonious management and only then when we get relegated can we talk sensibly about stabilising in the Championship.

Winning tomorrow and we are in a fight for sixth place. Every decisions should be done after the Reading match.
