Baz Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 no need unless Hanley or Kilgallon got an injury tbh it seems be. Spurr can play there. We'll be ok though eh Chaddy ? ;-)
chaddyrovers Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Baz, Hopefully we can get Keane in. very good centre back at this level. Spurr can play there but I would prefer Keane in. keep Spurr at left back. my point was I didn't expect us to bring a new defender unless either Dann or Kilgallon got an injury

Oh and by the way if Hanley is out for several weeks, even with a CH on loan, it gives us exactly zero cover. Personally i wonder if Hanleys injury is related in anyway to the upcoming internationals.
Backroom Tom Posted February 27, 2014 Author Backroom Posted February 27, 2014 Good job we didn't bring someone in just in case! Oh wait Bowyer may bring someone in, that is also great! Ah its only a vital position they don't need to know their teammates anyway Ps putting being flippant aside it may be false rumours and he may be just fine but I still feel we should have brought an option in
adsfortheblues Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Really don't think it matters who replaces Hanley, as nobody we replace him with, will be of the same quality. Don't get the hype around players such as Michael keane, another one loaned out left, right and centre and isn't really all that good.
tomphil Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 So now as predicted the lack of decent back up in that position becomes an issue Please god not Lowe. Hope GB can indeed work some magic in the loan dept, not to hopefull though.
Kamy100 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 If rumour is true then GB only has himself to blame, a cover CB should have been bought in weeks ago. Keane is good option, personally I'd bring O'Connell back.
chaddyrovers Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Kamy, surely Bowyer would have wanted.a cover centre back in but maybe we could get who we want or finances didnt allow it unless one got injured. is there a recall option in the O'Connell loan deal? maybe get Keane in and recall O'Connell back aswell
Baz Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Kamy, surely Bowyer would have wanted.a cover centre back in but maybe we could get who we want or finances didnt allow it unless one got injured. Brought in Varney, wheres the priority?
adsfortheblues Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Cryer saying its bull. More Nixon @#/?, Chaddy you need to stop following that nob @#/?
tomphil Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Cryer saying it's poss BS now. That keaning Nixon needs a slap if it's him again.
chaddyrovers Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Brought in Varney, wheres the priority? both positions tbh. we need Varney in and cover centre back in before now. but we didnt. lets get Keane in for Saturday and for next Sunday game aswell.
den Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Just highlights the amateurism we've seen running through the club since Allardyce was sacked and Williams walked. Endless numbers of useless midfielders and only two central defenders. Beggars belief.
Backroom Tom Posted February 27, 2014 Author Backroom Posted February 27, 2014 If it is all rubbish that's good news but it does highlight that we are just one injury or suspension from being out of options
Kamy100 Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 No idea if it is true, will try and find out this morning. Not just Alan reporting this story, it is in a number of national papers.
Ricky Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Keane has just come back from an 8 match loan spell at Derby. Obviously a decent player to help derby in the run they have been on. However we may not need him if the Hanley rumour is just that, a rumour.
den Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 FFP rules unfair says Shaw. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/11044028.Rovers_chief_Shaw__FFP_rules_are__complete_nonsense_/
JBiz Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 If rumour is true then GB only has himself to blame, a cover CB should have been bought in weeks ago. Keane is good option, personally I'd bring O'Connell back. AGENDA!?

However we may not need him if the Hanley rumour is just that, a rumour. Are you serious? We need him alright, what team striving to get into the playoffs can take a risk that neither of their only 2 centre-backs won't get injured? Its amateurish AND insane.
arbitro Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Are you serious? We need him alright, what team striving to get into the playoffs can take a risk that neither of their only 2 centre-backs won't get injured? Its amateurish AND insane. We are in a ridicuolous situation where the day before a big game we are looking to bring a player in on loan (if the rumours are true). That alone is fraught with danger. Serious questions need to be asked of Bowyer on this one. Why did Dabo sign when we have a glut of players who can play in that position and the real problem area in the squad wasn't addressed?

BUT - would the quality of player needed have come to Rovers to sit on the bench ? IF Hanley is injured - Bowyer has moved quickly to replace him with Keane - which makes you wonder whether Keane has always been a possibility.
